Thank you for this video, especially the part about moving paint to a different well! I got some new paints, wasn't happy about the overall arrangement in my palette and thought that I first had to use up all the paint before I would be able to change the set up! Scooping with a palette knive is brilliant!

I have to say that I deeply enjoyed watching you clean your palette. I have a 'thing' about me, you see, before I start to paint, my painting equipment has to be clean, and after I'm finished painting, everything must be clean. I just can't relax otherwise. Weird I know! Watching you take the time to clean out every crusty drop of paint, and revive it was simply bliss for me, weird huh? And I have to say that using your palette knife to move paint from cell to call was very clever. I found myself sighing with satisfaction at the end when you topped up the colours with fresh paint. Thank you for sharing this job with us. By the way, did you know that toothpaste is a mild abrasive for hard to clean spaces on silicon seals. I have the same palette and that's how I get mine clean when paint gets in the grooves. God bless you and all those you love. Have a great day!

This was so useful to look at in the detail you offered here. I have just watched your 2hr video about everything I need to know about Gouache....and was a little concerned about the water element. I got the message from there that minimal water is required and to avoid wetting the colours in the pot, as this dilutes them and basically changes them to watercolour, as the pigment was diluted. I thought that this means with a container such as yours, I am in danger over either over watering or underwatering and letting them dry out. Im still not confident I will get the right balance, but thank you this has helped me see how much is required to keep it moist and clean, which I guess is an essential part.....

It’s a great option if you don’t paint every day. I have gone 2 weeks without opening mine and it was fine (but i only recommend that if you know your gouache is clean and moist). If you know you’ll go a long while without using it, do a little maintenance, opening it once every week or every other week, you can spritz it with water and stir it and it will be fine.

When mixing, I always start with the gd intention of only using a clean brush to take from my palette... but then I get lost in the painting and just want the colour on the page. The results are pretty much like your palette, original paint colour with a bit of 'x'. Because of my bad habit I was worried about using a palette like this. So good to see that it is recoverable. You could add a tiny amount of clove bud oil to the ones that have issues.

The palette itself is cheap, and you can use Shinhan (£3.50 per tube) or similar, and get really great results!

@@SarahBurnsStudio it's going to the top of my extra list! What is my extra list? It is my list of things I desire for my art that is above and beyond the maintenance of my body and my van. Most months I barely achieve even that however every once in awhile a contributor sends me money with specific instructions to do something just for me! This palette is going to be just that for me!!!

That is an option but i dont find it necessary and prefer my gouache to dry fast

My palettes will forever be a mess, I'm too lazy to clean them lol (no matter how easy 😝)

I really wish I had watched this before completely emptying my gouache palette because it seemed hopelessly dried and unreconstitutable. 🤦‍♀️😵‍💫 Oh well, next time I'll know better.
