It is a great short and to-the-point review; I bought one in 1983, and the shutter got stuck a few years ago. I found a reputable camera shop online and planned to send my 124 for a completely refurbished one. You just earned my subscription. Thank you, Sir.🙏
One thing I wanted to mention and I didn't was the fact that this camera does have a built-in light meter but usually when buying this camera used, the light meter is almost never working! Any questions at all feel free to ask !
Thanks for the video. I own that beauty too and love it and the results. My only question: What position the inside plate (in your video at about 1:14) is correct when I use (as you) 120 film (12 shots)?
Jay! Did you know Davy Crockett Used one of these Yashica cameras during the siege of the Alamo in 1836!? Using just one roll of Kodak Eastman 5222 black and white 35mm motion picture film he shot enough sprocket holes to stave off General Santa Anna and his army of 2000 men for THIRTEEN DAYS! Thank you so much for sharing! More people need to learn about the Yashica and its rich AMERICAN history of nearly 200 years. Learn more in my new youtube short "the untold history of the Yashica Mat 124G" Great shots Subbed! I bet Mr Crockett would have been great at street photography!
It’s always interesting to see young photographers use film, not that I am knocking it as it’s good to see the interest in film. I had my first 124 G back in early 1981. I have had several of of them over the years. They are great cameras.
Appreciate that man! But yeah the camera itself takes CR2032 LITHIUM BATTERIES. And the cameras themselves, majority of the time the light meter almost never works. Mines don't so I don't so I've never was able to use it for the camera lol
Really dig your content my man..I have the MAT 124 myself. Well, Landed on your Lomography 400 review, found your Yashica right here, and with this you convinced me to subscribe. Keep up the great work!
Means a lot bro, I try to be as informative as I possibly can dealing with these videos so I just hope you get something out of them that’s new everytime! But yeah man thanks again!
Great video!! Thanks for sharing!!!! The YashicaMat 124G is a awesome camera. I think the secret is out, it’s now harder to find them and the prices are going up!
Nice job on the video. The Yashica is one of my favorites to shoot with in medium format. I actually had it serviced to factory specs a few months ago. Looked like it came off the factory floor when I got it back.
So, why would you accept the recommendation of a guy who paid $400, more or less, for a camera made out of plastic and recycled tuna fish cans which sold new in the box for $80?
It is always interesting how excited all the young people get so excited shooting this camera. After shooting film for most of my career and changed when digital first came out. Your photos are not really that interesting though from what you showed.

I love my Yashica Mat EM! It has a trusted piece of gear for many years.

I have several Yashica TLRs and use them regularly. You did a great job with the square format.
