He lives,he's not dead. This is music. This is Original music not the nonsense music musicians of today are playing. Tunde Nightingale lives,he is not dead. As long as his music is played he lives.
It's a pity that I knew more of this man and his music after his demise than when he was alive even though I passed through his beautiful house named " The nest of Nightingale" in Agbogbon area of Ibadan while commuting to and fro my old Primary School between 1965 and 1967. I learnt he died at age of 59 in 1981. Yoruba adage says ' Igi to too kii ipe ni igbo" meaning a straight and tall tree useful for constructing house do not last long in the forest. Adieu Papa.
It reminds me of trouble-free Lagos. There's nothing like armed robbery, kidnapping etc. You trekked from Isale-Eko to Lafiaji without fear. From Idunmota you trekked to JK Randle's Hall for festival dances like the Easter etc. If Lagos could go back to those days, then it is a great MIRACLE!
When music is music, " Se Owanbe?" Yes! Owanbe, Yoruba Open them other tribes In Nigeria Musically,Socially, from South West to South East, South South, North Central,North east to North north ...... etc, etc, Yes!! I said it.
