I freaking love them, especially any with blue-green colors (they may be lab-created, but the barbells in my second earlobe piercings have blue opal tops on them :3). Thank you for going into the origins of the "bad luck" superstition; I remember my mom mentioning that when I was little (something about giving my aunt a piece of her jewelry that had opal because she was born in October and my mom wasn't). My mom may not put stock in that anymore (if she did at all previously), but I'm looking forward to setting the record straight about the origins :)
I have been wearing a clear white opal heart since the beginning of this month 11/2023. My birthday is in January and I don't have luck. I have blessings. Not because of the stone around my neck. I'm blessed because I am loved by God and so I will wear any opal of any kind no matter what day or month. If it matches what I am wearing cool, I will wear it and be blessed. GO OPAL, WOOHOO 🎉
I'm a huge fan of BOD. I know where the pretty teardrop came from. In fact I won a parcel from Lightning Ridge in a essay contest. I love learning how to cut from Justin Thomas. I infact have Opal Fever 😊. I'm glad to learn and save all I can about Opal. With that said, on with the show and thank you for the info. 💚😍
I've never seen opals in anything outside a cabochon, the ring example was fascinating, as was the varied stories about how opals were considered historically (and so much eye candy at the end 😮)
13:20 I am astounded by this one. I have an Australian opal triplet which is similar, but not quite as bold, and it's the darkest/flashiest I think I've ever seen, but it pales in comparison to that image. Wow
I love opals. When I worked in the jewelry business, I came across faceted opals. They were not pretty. Looked like molded plastic. They had zero color play and no luster at all.
Faceted opals are for very, very specific stones. It doesn't work for most. I have a 3 ct Welo that looks awesome as a facet. But agreed, most need to be cabs.
What happened with episodes 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 ?... Cause I sure can't find them anywhere on RUclips 👀 Everything I've seen was very interesting btw. And very true/correct 👌
I have a few videos on that, just type my name and moldavite. One is a short specifically on spotting fakes. If you need more help shoot me an email and I'll hop to it ASAP.
Let's talk about opals!

Superstitions are an interesting thing! Yeah I didn't touch on lab created opals but I should. They do look good!

I have black and crystal opals from Justin and Ruth. Bought a few parcels from BOD and am fascinated with the treasure hunt at my fingertips.
Thanks for this vid. I love opals! And your Pliny voice😅
🤣🤣🤣
I for one would rather have a truly dazzling, colorful opal than most diamonds.
Because you're classy!

Opal can be a bit delicate for every day wear but more power to you! Down with the diamond supremacy!!!
@@mooneyfinemineral I will have a grove ring for daily wear I work in a concrete plant so to many things to snag on a solid ring
Smart!!! Still, love the opal idea. @@dougsmart3678
