HISHE is usually pretty funny, but I take issue with this particular episode because how Steve returned the stones isn't important--the past is fixed and cannot be changed.
To be clear, the MCU's timeline is set in stone, which is why all their time traveling didn't change the present. The alternate realities the Avengers traveled to, and caused havoc in--yes, they f'ed some things up, is a shadow of reality and, at the present, unimportant to the MCU as they aren't the Prime timeline.
Steve only had to return the stones to the specific points in time, not in their exact locations in the exact way they were received. Injecting Jane Foster with the red sludge that was the reality stone would have been no different than leaving the stone in her room--actually, it likely would have Saved Frigga's life, as she wouldn't have had to save Jane from the Dark Elves when they come to Asgard in a few hours time. Also putting the Power Stone in Star Lord's hand or just outside of the barrier, likely could have saved him an encounter with Korath and Ronan.
In short, Steve didn't have to return the stones in the same way they were taken. He only needed to return them to their respective points in time from which they were taken to prevent the timeline splintering off into alternate realities, which is weird given that the current timeline doesn't have any Infinity stones to protect it from the very thing Steve is preventing by returning the stones they took from the past.
We didn't see the Multiverse in Spider-Man Homecoming, as we were led to believe given his commercials, but it may still happen for reasons explained above. Moreover, closing the Multiverse sounds like a job for Reed Richards, and this could give Marvel a new origin story for him and his family that isn't space based, and something that we haven't seen before. Wouldn't it be interesting if the Fantastic Four got their powers from cosmic energies flowing from the multiverse instead of an accident in space?
