Oh man, I remember when the first one came out. Mid 20s when it dropped. Was (and still is) one of the coolest and most important RUclips videos ever. It was an idea so ridiculously simple and yet charged with so much meaning. Doesn't matter where we're from, we're all really the same. Of all of the dancing you did, my favorite moment is in India when you switch from your dance to dancing with the women in their traditional dance. That was a beautiful moment. They all are, but that one still stands out to me. And some of the incredible places you got to visit on our ridiculously beautiful planet. I love how no matter where you go, people are just people. We all want the same basic things... a job, good food, family and friends. We tell jokes, dance, sing. Thank you Matt for unwittingly become a thing.

In 2009 a friend and I watched your video for the first time.
In 2010, almost exactly a year later, we packed our bags and went into the great beyond.
We would have never done it if not for you. This video pushed us out our front door, and into the world.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

I first watched your videos when I was around 13 years old (I'm 24 now) and you were one of the big reasons why one of my biggest goals in life is to travel around the world! In 2019 I was in a student exchange program that let me study in Spain for 6 months, I visited 14 countries during my stay, it was like a dream come true!
The song from your 2012's video was my background music for some of it and it was a magic experience. And as I grow older I want to keep traveling to as many countries as I can. So thank you for helping me discover this is what I truly want to work for! You truly made me eager to fight to reach that goal!

I have no idea if you will ever see my comment but in 2009 my dad passed away from Cancer. My brother couldn't handle doing a eulogy but instead felt your video in 2008 was perfect for playing at his funeral. My dad was an amazing person and had a deep faith. The song is so beautiful and was perfect and showing you dancing around the world was so much my dad. If he couldn't done that he would've for sure. I'm so grateful my brother knew of that video because it was very appropriate. Ended up there was not a dry eye in the house. Your video will forever have tremendous meaning for me. Thank you so much!!!!! God Bless

It was his idea and a little side note my dad was a writer producer and director of commercials he wrote the lyrics to the Oscar Mayer Weiner song and he also in the early 90's did the voice of Wario. :)

Years later, you eventually came but unfortunately I had moved away.

I show all your videos to all of my classes every single year.

I got screwed with my DMZ trip as they informed me two days before that they had to cancel because there was military training that day and the next tour they could get me on, was the day I was leaving. I wanted to make a comment just saying how funny you are, but decided to say more.
Your 2010 video is one of my favorites. This is a big title. RUclips has a like and favorite functions that I think people overuse. I like videos I actually like, not just videos I want to support with *engagement*. I like videos for no one but myself. If I go on the "liked videos" playlist, I get a playlist of carefully selected videos I could sit down with and enjoy watching, years after originally seeing them. I favorite extraordinary videos I don't want to lose or forget. My favorites are like bookmarks I could access from anywhere. I currently have 25 favorites after 15 years of having an account here, some of which are no longer available to watch.
I liked your video and favorited it. The heartfelt music and activity were stellar, and it fills me with such strong emotions every time the crowds close in on you to dance along. And yes, the humor you portrayed in these recent videos is great.

Matt, your eyes will probably never meet up with this comment that is in the shuffle of other awesome comments, but I was certainly drowning in a lowly point of my life, and keeping my eyes peering just above the surface of the persistently crashing waves to my face, as all my hopes bobbed through life's twisted games, seemed unlikely. When I first beheld your dancing and traveling video (The song Praan beautifully complemented that life-changing video, by the way), those many fleeting years ago, I instantaneously felt a change stiring inside me and swell for some reason. As of today, I am a world traveler and I am marrying my filipino fiance this September. My life has greatly improved, and it is difficult to wrap my head around how one video can have such a possitive impact. Now, I have watched a myriad of videos over the years, and your video is number one to me. So, whether or not you see this, Matt, your videos were pleasantly contagious and finally gave me the aspiration that I undoubtedly needed. You changed my life. Now that the world has become so full of hate and division (more so than I've seen in my 60+ years of life), it's even more wonderful seeing these beautiful people coming together to dance and be happy. Back in the days I absolutely adored your videos, especially the 2008 one. Praan is just a gorgeous song. Being its just me being an edgy teenager back then but I found that video conveying a profound truth about humanity as a whole, intended or not. People aren't born racist, some may become that way over time, and as you kinda said in this video traveling and meeting different people can prevent or at least mitigates racism. A lesson now more important than ever.
I think for all the crap the algorithm suggests to me, I have to thank it for this one. And I wanna thank you, Matt, for your wholesome videos that deeply influenced me back then and still today. I don't know if that's kinda weird but I will cherrish their impact on me forever.

I have watched Where the Hell is Matt? so many times, starting with lockdown, which is when I discovered it. Every time I needed a lift or a happy distraction, I would watch it. I love that your favorite moment is the one with the Bollywood Dance troupe because that's when the video slows down and becomes something special. Thank you so much for this vid!!!

I'm glad I happened on this after showing my son your 2012 video. I knew a bit of it - I read your blog back in those days - but hearing you talk about it brought a smile.
I miss the happy, innocent days of the early internet.

Would be great to see something for the 15th or 20th anniversary. 20th... give the man some time. :D But yeah, this was a massively influential video before that was even a thing. And it was done in such a genuine way without any guile.

Thanks for your modesty and transparency; sometimes a bit hard to find in the vanity that's called social media. Please more behind-the-scenes bits, this is the really fascinating stuff imho. Good luck and all the best from Germany.

I remember watching your video 2005, then waiting for the next years, then the next and 2006 was probably the last one I remember catching. Great to see the back story of these all this time later.
