  • @leaguesmanoframsgate
    @leaguesmanoframsgate Год назад +30

    Proper comment now: The DR Congo has been a serious hotbed of violence for years, and it's one of many problems that I don't think federation with the other six countries in the EAF would really solve. However, the Congolese LINAFOOT top flight is one of the strongest in Africa despite these massive problems; while AS Dauphins Noirs haven't had a particularly illustrious history within the competition, the league itself routinely produces decent sides. Who can forget the time TP Mazembe made it to the final of the Club World Cup and managed to play Inter Milan reasonably close, for instance? The CAF Champions League has been won by multiple DR Congolese sides in its history and they routinely make deep runs in the tournament. There's a lot of talent and a lot of hope in the nation's football; I just hope that there's more that can be done through sport, and indeed any other means, to bring peace and unity to a nation riven with strife and violence.

      I was about to say, that's funny, I've seen a guy posting about the DRC (and other nations) trying to get a video on it. Making it funny that you also mentioned it. Then I saw your name and your comment above 😂😂

    • @leaguesmanoframsgate
      @leaguesmanoframsgate Год назад +2

      @@slayingroosters4355 Yeah, I try to add a proper comment on the video as well as one for the usual request, especially when the video deals with subject matter relevant to my request. Just seems churlish to only leave a copypasta comment on every video, y'know? =]

  • @leaguesmanoframsgate
    @leaguesmanoframsgate Год назад +88

    I'm gonna put in another request for a hypothetical starting XI for the East African Federation, a proposed federation (big surprise there) of Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. None of them are exactly what you'd call powerhouse footballing nations, with the exception of the DRC, but with plenty of players from those nationalities in the French and German leagues there's bound to be some diamonds in the rough. I did actually send Alfie a Twitter DM detailing my own attempt at an EAF first team, complete with a kit design and a subs bench, but since that didn't get a response I can only assume it got lost in the post. It's not like he'd ignore an unsolicited private message about putting together a national football team for a country that doesn't exist, right? Right?
    This is request number 17; calling it a streak feels a little disingenuous considering I miss days a lot of the time due to my health. I intend to go for as long as I can until Alfie either makes the video or tells me to bugger off. I'm sure you have your own opinions about which is more likely. =]

    • @SantomPh
      @SantomPh Год назад +1

      plenty of French and Belgian players can be plucked for the DRC- Lokonga, Lukaku, Benteke, Steve Mandanda, Axel Disasi , Kimpembe etc could literally carry the whole EAF region

    • @leaguesmanoframsgate
      @leaguesmanoframsgate Год назад +1

      @@SantomPh This is indeed the case, and they're all good picks. For my part, I tried to put together a team that wasn't just a DR Congo What If XI, because that's... kind of not in the spirit of things. The other six nations do have the odd very strong player - Youssouf Ndayishimiye just won the SuperLig with Besiktas and is currently doing reasonably well as a centre-back for Nice in Ligue 1, while Mike Trésor has been having the season of his life for KRC Genk and is currently on the highest number of assists for the Belgian Pro League this season - and while the latter has played in the Belgian youth setup, they've both got Burundian heritage. They both deserve to be in the side as more than bench players, IMO. You're right though - there's so many excellent players in the Congolese diaspora that an EAF team could rapidly become DRC With Full Supporting Cast.

    You could say Violette AC from Haiti, a team thats only playing the Concacaf Champions league since their league is basically shut down due to the conditions in Haiti. The team even has to play in the Dominican Republic because is not safe for them or teams from other countries to play in Haiti. With all these things Violette managed to beat MLS team Austin FC and went through the next round which they’ll play against Leon from Mexico.

The majority of content creators would've taken the easy option and made this a Ukrainian-only video and simply jumped off the popularity of the conflict and milked it for the views and revenue. P.S. Desna has been a club riddled with problems for the last 6-7 years at least. They were once controlled by a mafia criminal who fled from Ukrainian prosecution to (how unexpected) r*ssia, but still ruled the club. There are also rumours that they might not have survived long enough, even in normal conditions. They were just too troubled with finances and management.
    P.S.2 I'd say out of all Ukrainian clubs Mariupol should have been more talked about. Because we don't even know the extent of the city's destruction at this point and don't know when it'd be possible to even start rebuilding it.

    Here's a question that would make a video. Why don't Asian European and countries from the Americas play international friendlies in Africa against African teams??

    • @SantomPh
      @SantomPh Год назад +1

      logistics. It's just too expensive and exacting to do so. Africa has a very difficult air travel connection network compared to Europe or Asia. Remember when Aubameyang and his Gabon team were stuck at an airport in Gambia? Or when Adebayor's Togo were shot at in their bus to Angola because no flights were available? Just getting to any African country that isn't Egypt or Morocco is a nightmare for most countries who will have to transit at least twice. South Africa, one of the top teams in Africa is situated at the deep end of the continent, with few direct connections to Asia or Europe.
      African teams like Nigeria, who have mostly European based stars will probably play friendlies in Europe and not in Africa. Not that long ago Ghana and Brazil played friendlies in Portugal for the same reason
      In Europe there are several connecting hubs players can use, plus countries are much smaller and closer together. Even teams like Australia will use a European country as a base for friendlies, given the nightmare logistics from down under.
      You rarely get Latin American teams playing friendlies at home against non-Latin American teams- if Ecuador are going to play Poland, for example the game will not be in Ecuador but in some European country.

    I created an all-time XI with no overlap of international careers - no player was active for their national team at the same time as any other player.
    Here it is (with the years of each player's international career listed in parentheses):
    🇩🇪 Oliver Kahn (1995 - 2006)
    🇩🇪 Manfred Kaltz (1975 - 1983), 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Bob Crompton (1902 - 1914), 🇧🇷 Thiago Silva (2008 - ), 🇩🇪 Andreas Brehme (1984 - 1994)
    🇺🇾 José Leandro Andrade (1923 - 1930), 🇮🇹 Ugo Locatelli (1936 - 1940)
    🇮🇹 Valentino Mazzola (1942 - March 1949)
    🇧🇷 Pelé (1957 - 1971), 🇧🇷 Neco (1917 - 1922), 🇭🇺 Zoltán Czibor (May 1949 - 1956)
    Manager: 🇨🇿 Karel Petrů (1931 - 1935)
    How about making a video featuring an XI you created using this limitation (and without using uncapped players)?

    Best German players in the premier league of all time. (Day 475)
    I will not give up until the video is made or Alfie himself tells me to stop. Everyone else telling me that will be ignored.
    If you don't believe my number, just go back to the previous videos. I'm at the bottom most of the time, but I'm there.

    I personally think Alfie has made this video rather sarcastic and uncomfortable to watch, putting PSG as a joke for the 5th choice imo was very very unnerving for a very serious video and a bit of a pisstake for the very serious idea of the video, I am rather appalled at HITC Sevens for this.

    I love your entire body of work Alf but this isn’t one I can watch beyond the intro man. For my own mental health. Appreciate the highlight though. 🫶🏼
    Football as are all Olympiads, have all shared in controversy, culture and world civilization but theirs is a complex ever winding relationship which transcends clubs and individuals when the scales of war are pulled upon so freely and carelessly as though war was child’s play… and in saying that I see the very irony. Again, appreciated, supported. 🫶🏼
