- ILBE Lid as a Backpack! Howdy Folks, This video is another ILBE Hack in which I demonstrate how you can use your ILBE Lid as a Backpack. In the video you will see why I posted this video, and you will also find out that you have to watch this video for reference... • TURN YOUR ILBE PACK LI...
This was a spur of the moment video and is down and dirty info on how to turn your ILBE Lid into a Backpack in response to a reply I received from Renaissance Marine. I personally thought the idea was a lot of fun and perhaps this could be a new thing for the channel, so let me know what you think.
NOTE Due NOT Taking My Time..... I mistakenly put the shoulder straps on the WRONG sides. I switched them after I posted the video and the cinch straps worked perfectly. I'm certain many of you noticed that, so I wanted state it here before you watched.

not too shabby! i like it! ive got to play with that idea myself. thank you so much for the kind words. God bless, brother!
Thank You Brother! I'll be making a pair of proper should straps for it ASAP. I always get tons of ideas from your videos. Just very little time to realize them. I literally read the reply on my phone through my email and walked out to the garage and shot the video. Absolutely the quickest Idea to publishing video I've every done! God Bless You As Well Brother!
That is an awesome idea. I already most, if not all, of the equipment needed. Thank you for the heads-up.
Fantastic! Because I put the straps on without flipping the lid over, I put the straps on the wrong sides. After I published the video I put them on correctly and they worked perfectly. They still need a sternum strap.
Thank you for you definitive ILBE video! I ended up buying one on EBAY BRAND NEW. Did I pay more than originally anticipated? of course. But I simply could not be happier. My other tow alternatives were a Savotta L and a Frost River Isle Royale L as neither of their medium versions would carry the amount of crap I wanna hump! The ILBE is simply amazing! Thank you Propper! Thank you for the knowledge you were considerate enough to impart on us strangers! Bill Doyle from Upr Grnwd Lk, NJ
Thank You Bill! I'm very happy you like the ILBE as much as I do!
A really great video on that, I love your ingenuity. I have the ILBE and I'll have to give that a try .
I will be making a PROPPER set of shoulder straps for it ASAP!
Ilbe always looked epic. I like that it’s lid is just one big pocket instead of the separate ones on the MR. If I wanna organize stuff I’ll do it myself with stuff sacks and kit bags
Yes! Subcompartmentalization!
This is definitely something I need to think about more as I spend time in the woods with my kid...nice to carry the incidentals when taking side hikes etc.
Yeah.... I kinda learned the hard way....
First off thank you for your Service 🙏
Awesome ideas. I could never do the side pouches, pulls to much on my shoulders but this is a great solution
Thank you. And also for turning us all on to another channel. 👍
You are very welcome! Thank you for your appreciation. I've never been a big fan of shoulder bags. The best style I have found is the "Sling Bag". Very wide, padded shoulder strap with a torso strap that secures the pack from moving and pulls the weight to your body so your shoulder doesn't bare all the weight. Hands down, I prefer a traditional Nap Sack/Backpack.

Most of the channels I actually am fed great ideas by are NOT the mega channels with 50+ thousand subscribers. Unfortunately you really have to spend a lot of time finding them as RUclips doesn't really care about channels that aren't striving to be a "Business" or are "Infomercials. I also enjoy Hang Tough: www.youtube.com/@hangtough6503
and Matt Holbrook: www.youtube.com/@Matt_Holbrook
These are real people that are incredibly ingenious/resourceful/creative etc..... These kind of people I would love to live near by. I can't imagine the amazing "think tank" and "project laboratory" we would create!
@@boonedockery7220 Aw yes, I do have the Sling Bag, great bag as you stated. with the padded shoulder strap and the waist strap it does make it easier to handle. At this time though I use it as a travel bag with what I feel are my essentials and it works beautifully.
I do like an open bag, one with not to many if any extra pockets, with shoulder straps
have a great day
Thanks again for your sharing
Thanks for giving us another good provider of outdoor interest. I subscribed to his site as well as a couple of others in the queue that I hadn't seen before.

@@boonedockery7220 Thanks, I'll check out both.
WOW: a novel approach to this video...and one that is very well-conceived and executed. I followed your instructions, going to Renaissance Marine and coming back for your follow on. It was "all good." My first thought along the way was also: 'This would be better with padded straps.' I have no loyalty to ILBE packs, so I still would prefer the Mystery Ranch solution for the way every item you packed stays close to the body.
Thank You Brother! Mystery Ranch really did a great job on the lid design. The make-shift ILBE lid pack will work much better once I make or purchase better straps. Mystery Ranch's lid will still be superior in every way, but playing with the ILBE lid will be a lot of fun!
good evening sir glad to hear you voice
Good Evening To You! I don't think the video would have been as effective had I not spoken.....
Ordered my lid 10 min before i found this. I.swear this is my last pack, for real this time.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!!!! I have said that TOOOOOO Many Times!!!! Hahahahahahaaaaaa!!!!!!
That is absolutely brilliant and well done! Now, I’ll need to look at my lid haversack setup and maybe modify them like that. Thank you!
I think I'll track down a couple more lids to play with. Mission Specific Lids??????? Could Be Interesting......
@@boonedockery7220 I think that’s an excellent idea and look forward to seeing them my friend. Always thinking outside the box is good 😊
Hidden woodsman has some awesome padded sholder straps on his website for sale.
Thank You! I will check them out!
great idea👍👍
Glad you think so! Thanks!
this is awesome 😂🤘 remember recently i was telling you, i can't wait for you to do more ilbe stuff
Well, because of you and Renaissance Marine, I will be making a PROPER set of shoulder straps!
@@boonedockery7220 YEAH?! Wow, am honored! 🙏🙏💪🇺🇸 Very cool!!
i have been using my LC-1 for several weeks now, daily, and it has one old vietnam strap, the ruck is from 70's apparently, and i have one woodland strap 😂 3 generations lol
can't wait to see what else you do
@@boonedockery7220 it's crazy when you were talking about the guy who makes vids, it sounded exactly like me but i also have music and mostly minecraft vids. i need to just take all my bushcraft, nature, survival, and outdoors vids and start a channel just for that. there's a lot of bangers in there, i must say! lol
Saw that video last week. Great ideas, all! How about using an H-harness off of a micro chest rig? I got one a few weeks ago to put on my TAPS and think it would work.
These repurposing vids are great.
Thank you, brother!
OOOOOOooooooooo........ I like where you're going with this!!!! I gotta play with this! Thank you for the great idea! Blessings Be Upon You And Yours Brother!
@@boonedockery7220 You are so welcome, brother. Shalom!
Welcome to Texas
Thank You! I actually spent a good bit of time at Fort Bliss when I was in the Army.
Do you know where you got the waterproof New Testament copy? Looks nice to have on hand. Keep em coming
I purchased it many years ago at a now defunct Christian Book store called Praises. Here's an amazon link to the exact one I have. It's pretty much the same price I purchased mine for. amzn.to/3DV15Ct
Thank you very much for your support! God Bless You!
Awesome. I do the same with my lid. Great bonus pack. Subd to him. D🤙🇺🇸😎
Thank You Brother! Now that I opened my brain to the idea again, I've got a few other things I've got to try! RM has some very cool surplus ideas! Thanks for checking his channel out and subscribing!
Boonedockery HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMm
