This one really captured that Rembrandt magic, it's very hard to do an old masters style painting and not have it come out looking academic and flat; this one had the quality and glow that Rembrandt was known for.
I once read that Rembrandt used so many layers of paint on certain portraits that the painting could literally be picked up by the subject's nose. Not that anyone would do that. That's a LOT of paint.
thank you brother and your channel. my humble request please keep video lonh so we can also learn more from you. which colour you are using, how you mixing , whivh medium you using , how is the drying time. please mention in the videos. thank you
Old Master Paintings Would be 👍I , for example, have two major questions: how long are you waiting for between layers, drying time, and do you apply oil between layers. Thanks for sharing your experience!
..wonderful portrait.. to be cherished for centuries..although I didn't get the purpose of second layer of white without any value gradation before applying the glazes.
I disagreed with the thickness of the first layer, it was too flat. It didn´t had the effect I expected. So the second layer of white was applied more impasto.
Natural earth pigments like umber from Cyprus, ochres from Italy, roman black earth from France, red bolus from Germany. Most of the pigments I buy at Kremer Pigmente, Germany. Think they have the biggest palette of different pigments (also anchient pigments) for painters in the whole world.
Tip: film in landscape or upload the video in portrait. With these big black borders it makes it difficult to view on mobile. Anyways, fantastic work!!
Do you have any DVD tutorials for this style but in acrylics? I can't use oil due to health reasons at present and only have room in my bedroom to learn to paint! Awesome painting, bravooooo
For these style of paintings you don´t need any solvents. I never need and paint only without. Try to use only a little of drying oil like linseed oil varnish or pure linseed or walnut oil.
Great !...but I prefer the artwork of Jeek Koons and his rabbit of 91.1 million dollars ... Ah! Ah! Ah! I'm kidding because it's your table that deserves 91 million dollars! Nice job guy ! Other video I hope ... Best regards from France ! (sorry for my aproximatif english)
Could it be that you've never seen a Rembrandt in the original? If you only use color photographs, it will never work. Your lifeless colors are really just dull! How self-important does a person have to imagine something so atrociously bad as a Rembrandt copy?

Wow, it’s amazing, please can you tell, what earth oil pigments did you use?
