Unhappy people make great consumers… as a young mom I was trying to fill a void with stuff. Now with 3 kids decluttering my home has made me so much happier than I ever could have made myself with all the stuff
To comment on how unhappy people are great consumers: I tell people allllll the time, "Wherever you go, there you are." People change jobs, relationships, locations, chasing something that's going to make them happy but then are never happy - because in the end, it is still them and they haven't worked on themselves. Until you fix what is bothering you internally, you will never find the perfect job, the perfect partner, the perfect location or true happiness, because wherever you go, there you are.
You two are such an affiirmative presence. It is 5 times better than either one of you alone. When you are both there, it feels like I'm at home. Thank you! Dawn, I now follow your channel because of this episode. I love your spirit so much! You are giving me support and hope in a seemingly hopeless time.
Great ! I grew up outside of the US and did not have all the luxuries and toys children have here. I must say that I am so thankful my parents taught us the importance of life: people, family ….not material things. I have great memories of my childhood!
I use tea light candles in a mason jar as tabletop candlelight. Just add a small handful of pebbles to a pint sized jar and stick the tea light inside. You can reuse the stones and jars year after year and just replace the inexpensive tea lights. I sometime decorate the jars with ribbon for weddings or holiday themes.
Great podcast. I really hope that Dawn helps Christine with decorating/styling her living room and y'all go on an adventure together and invite us to go along with you.
Flooring: We just redid kitchen and bathroom in SHEET VINYL. Gasp! We love it!!! Christmas movie: 1947 The Bishop's Wife Books: I am loving the At Home in Mitford series. Transports me to a lovely world of people I'd love to know.
Ever since Dawn and Diana recommended reading fiction before bed, I started doing that. At first, I hunted through my fiction stash. Perelandra wasn't really a good choice for me. One day, I looked up at the Louisa May Alcott my grandmother had given me a very long time ago. They were on a shelf as decor. Finally started reading them. Fabulous! Love them
I love the two of u,, I’m still amazed how things I learned in high school, & life it self, u two have it together & share with fan families, keep up so others will enjoy life more by learning to be frugal, how to shop, save & actually not need some much stuff. People will feel so free& can really do more family things. I wish the school boards would take out some things & add those things, banking, house care, saving, frugal living type things,in stead of thinking always needing newer, better, when life would be so much simpler, trying ur ideas! Have a BLESSED & CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR, can’t wait to see what u two come up with to make 2025 easier, more fun, more free to live more peaceful with family!❤🎉😊
This podcast was such a delight and a treat this morning. You are both wonderful, thank you very much. Would LOVE a three way podcast with Cas from Clutterbug. You all have a brilliant, sincere and very funny rapport together.
I knew Dawn was talking about the winter garden!!! That book TORE ME APART!!! It’s one of Kristin’s older books and it is gut wrenching. The Women (her newest I believe) was PHENOMENAL!
Yes to Kristin Hannah. Winter Garden...man! And Nightingale, wow! I had never realized what the French went through during the Nazi invasion. So moving and educational!!!
@frugalfitmom I have had 2 houses with LVP flooring, they do scratch if you slide something heavy across it, but I think most floorinf will, for our living areas in general it’s been great. I got waterproof LVP, and love that I don’t have to worry about making sure I don’t miss any random snow melt puddles. Hardwood and not waterproof LVP will warp if a puddle you didn’t know about is left for a few hours. I do regret our color choice, we put down the first LVP flooring in 2019, and went with a gray LVP flooring, which we liked at the time but definitely dates the floor. I’d recommend going with wood colors more similar to natural wood, warmer and lessens that risk.
Yes and you can put felt on the bottom of all your furniture legs or whatever would scrape when you move furniture and not worry about scratching. We have hardwood and that's what we do
I have a preteen girl and I’d love to hear more about bonding and building their self esteem apart from shopping and the “in” brands. Like Dawn said she wanted to cheer her daughter up by getting her pants she wanted. What are other ways to spend quality time together and to make them feel confident without material items?
Set an example to her by the way you see yourself..don't put yourself down..whether by your physical attributes or your educational attributes..or your accomplishments..give her compliments..build her up by any means..just spending time together..laughing, talking..watch a movie together..take an geniune interest in her..go for a walk together...depending on her age .if you both like to have your nails done..do it together at home..cooking and baking together..gives you together time and teaches her life skills..just stay involved in her life..not in a helicopter way..everyone needs their space..you can find a happy medium..just always be there for her..she will feel that she is valued and loved..don't put down her opinions..be open with her..
Along with the above suggestions, ask her opinion about a variety of topics. Keep asking questions, it will get her thinking and it lets her know that you value her thoughts, even if you don’t agree with them.
Regarding flooring... We brought samples home and literally dragged nails across them (in a corner) gently and then more aggressively, and ended up dropping a small crowbar on end on one of them when it had withstood all previous experiments! So there IS a sort of way to test flooring 😄
My sons were full-on pigs when they were young. Clothes etc., just covered their bedroom floor! Now they are out on their own. One has become the clean freak with his roommates, the other drives his wife crazy with all his "stuff." So time will tell if they change when they grow up. Just have to remember it's not life and death.❤
Yep! My husband and I have been binge watching Only Murders in the Building. Occasionally, I don’t care for some of the adult themes. I’m a very conservative person but it’s so creative and we laugh a lot. Martin Short and Steve Martin are hilarious. We only watch it together, so I can’t watch during week days when husband is at work. The funny thing is, I keep thinking I can’t watch this on my own so I’m going to have to watch all the Gilmore Girls on my own again this winter.

Thursday murder club series is very funny and brilliant. Highly recommend. I was in London in summer and everywhere I looked people had their head in a book reading it
I think whether or not your LVP scratches depends partly on the brand/grade. We got Flooret because of good reviews and it's been holding up really well. If it's scratched anywhere we can't see it.
We had the same experience exactly with the lvp. It was on clearance and light colored. It scratched so badly including immediately after we finished the floor. It’s such a disappointment!!
Loved this!! I totally agree with the book opinions. Colleen Hoover and several others like her- exactly as you said! Poorly written, predictable. I always think these types are written as a script with movement directions. She went outside. She opened the door. She walked back inside. Ugh!! The covers of these are always big paint brush splashes. I’m the only one at my bookclub that doesn’t care for these script books. I agree that Kristen Hannah is so high quality! The Nightingale still stays with me years later.
The book “ In Order to Live “ was part of our Mother - daughter book club this year. It wrecked us all but in the best way possible. 😭 We refer to it often. You will walk away changed.
The "privileged woman with salt" comment is probably from someone who lives with dietary restrictions. There are pretty good (and inexpensive) substitutes available. 🙂
Thus was awesome. I wish someone would help this sr citizen couple rake their leaves. Saying that , we have an even older couple next door that I will rake dinner to later today.
The two of you need your own show. I love watching the two of you together. So funny!
I 2nd this! "The Minimalist Fit Mom's Podcast" ❤
Absolutely would LOVE more of this!!!
Yes!!!!!!!
Unhappy people make great consumers… as a young mom I was trying to fill a void with stuff. Now with 3 kids decluttering my home has made me so much happier than I ever could have made myself with all the stuff
Make this duo podcast permanent!!!!! LOVE
Can't wait for the episode where Dawn works on Christine's living room and they work out together!
I'm with Dawn! No neighbor gifts, no stockings, no Santa cookies.
Agreed! Keep life simple!!

Exactly! I tell my students the same thing. No matter where you go… you take you along.

I only watch you tube so glad your here .... along with Cas and practical mom watch you all and learn so much thank you xxx
"Every disaster's a silver lining because you get a great story out of it later." 😂 Gosh you're an up beat lady!

Two of my favourite people in one show ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I often reread the Mitford series its like visiting old friends!
I love the candlelight dinner and agree with the jar candles!

Y’all, I could listen to the two of you chat all day 😊 Enjoyed the podcast 🥰👏
Ladies this conversation was great!!!
We do a Christmas Eve ham with light sides, but our tradition is a huge breakfast/brunch after gifts are open, and we stay in pj's ALL DAY!
How was I NOT already subscribed to Christine’s channel??!! I love her and Dawn!!
Dawn, Every flooring we've tried has been a problem. Lol 😂 never as good as i thought!
Love these two together!!! Buy unscented candles so your food won't taste weird, it will. LOL
Read Jan Karon The Mitford Series!
Love the two of you! Please make this a regular thing. Also, THANK YOU Christine for validating my feelings on Colleen Hoover :D

Advice on LVP get a sample and scratch with a razor blade to see how thick the coating is on top. You also need a level floor
Thursday Murder Club is a great series!
What a great conversation! Thank you very much and plase make it a regularne thing ❤
I knew Dawn was talking about the winter garden!!! That book TORE ME APART!!! It’s one of Kristin’s older books and it is gut wrenching.
The Women (her newest I believe) was PHENOMENAL!
I loved both those books too! KH never disappoints! 📕
❤❤ Love you both!! Such a great, informative and fun conversation!!
Yas!!! Excited for another good podcast. Looking forward to this with a few of my absolute fav you tubers
Yes to Kristin Hannah. Winter Garden...man! And Nightingale, wow! I had never realized what the French went through during the Nazi invasion. So moving and educational!!!
The Winter Garden is hands down my favorite book!
Thank you, girls. I watch both of you and enjoy your content. It's been so nice to hear from a wiser woman. ❤❤❤
OMG Christine, I also have red "in order to live", and it also was for me one of the best books I have ever red
Um this was so fun! Please get together on youtube like once a week ha
You are so right about Kristin Hannah.

Amy Grant was also famous for “Baby, baby” 😂
I watch y’all to fold my laundry… 😂
Seriously.. I was watching this as i decluttered my kids room!🤣
Christmas dinner is Stouffer's lasagna and Greenbean casserole.
We used to do lasagne and salad. I miss that.
Dawn - your preference is ham, per old Thanksgiving videos! 😉😂❤️
Love y’all both!
Yay Dawn! ❤ you guys are awesome when get together!

My mom caught our dining room buffet on fire with the advent wreath candles one year. So now as an adult, I have a led advent wreath 😂.
LOLOLOL!!!!!
I love that Dawn recommends Jordan Syatt. I feel like my worlds are colliding. 😂😂
Love you and Dawn!!
Kristin Hannah books are my favorite!
Regarding flooring... We brought samples home and literally dragged nails across them (in a corner) gently and then more aggressively, and ended up dropping a small crowbar on end on one of them when it had withstood all previous experiments! So there IS a sort of way to test flooring 😄
What a fun podcast. A book I really like is “Where the Wind Leads” by Vinh Chung. He grew up the same time I did, so it really spoke to me.
Great podcast. Now I am off to read a book!
You're both spot on. Love, rev.
A thousand splendid suns
You two are a hoot together!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Agreed on Hoover! So badly done!
Merry Christmas ladies.

Dont forget you can always get battery candles if safety is a concern. Feel free to fall asleep with them on too!
My favs! Christine and Dawn! ❤🎉
Love Kristin Hannah!!! Night Road was my first one and fell in love with her books

Great conversation! Thank you!
Man's Search for Meaning - Viktor Frankl. If you're going through hard times or a series of hard times read this...
Absolutely, excellent book!
The Extraordinary Deaths of Mrs Kipp is one of my favorite books of all time. Highly recommend!
I loved Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah, I read it a couple months ago.
Love you both!
Kristin Hannah is incredible!!!
Thursday murder club series is very funny and brilliant. Highly recommend. I was in London in summer and everywhere I looked people had their head in a book reading it
I'd love to see a list of book recommendations somewhere (maybe goodreads?) since Christine's recs are harder to find in the vlogs.

Wow! I’m currently reading book # 159 for this year so I guess a should have ZERO stress in my life! 🤣
The book “ In Order to Live “ was part of our Mother - daughter book club this year. It wrecked us all but in the best way possible. 😭

I love all the Christmas music.❤
You both are the best❤
I am currently reading In Order to Live.
Privacy and computers do not go together!!! Yes!!! Agree!! If the whole world believed this our children would be so much better off!!
We love doing a "Bethlehem Dinner" on Christmas eve
I am folding my clothes ladies so thanks!
I WISH I could get up and exercise first thing. However I already have to get up at 4:00 am for work. What do you suggest? 😊
Hi Christine & Dawn 👋🏻
Love you both!!!
The "privileged woman with salt" comment is probably from someone who lives with dietary restrictions.
There are pretty good (and inexpensive) substitutes available. 🙂
I love appetizers. 😊
Our kids or us had less we were poor ,kids never said anything, played outside a lot, best memories
Great podcast
