If you buy the call option for the strike price of 10300 at a premium of 279, why does the Nifty has to be at 10579 for break-even (no profit/no loss) at the end of July month? Here you've added strike price + premium paid = 10300+279 to obtain the break-even value which is 10579. Do you mean that if I do not sell the option until July end, and the Nifty goes to 10579, I'll incur no gain/no loss? But if I do not sell the option, it'll expire and all my investment which is 279 is gone. Is my understanding incorrect? Can you please clarify?

I bought at the money (i.e, 10300) call, and sold call 200 points away, there is no rule that we should do like this, we can even do same strategy with Out of the money options like Buying call at 10700 and selling at 10800 or 10900 call...but expecting right market direction for your holding period is key here.
