Veteran groups criticize Trump for “politicking” at Arlington National Cemetery

- Criticism, especially from some veteran groups, continues to pour in following Donald Trump's visit to the Arlington National Cemetery on Monday.
Some members of Trump's campaign got into an altercation with an official when they allegedly tried to film the former president after a wreath-laying ceremony. The official reportedly tried to eject a photographer working for the campaign when she was “abruptly pushed aside,” the Army said in a statement to Scripps News.
Federal law prohibits political activity, including photography, at any military cemeteries. The army stated the cemetery employee was acting with professionalism and trying to ensure the Trump campaign followed the rules in Section 60 - a heavily restricted part of the cemetery that's reserved for recent deaths.

Satan Dufus was invited by a family. Campaign staff was aware of the rules and regulations and chose to ignore it and film the ceremony to be used for the campaign. Section 60 is heavily restricted. It’s largely reserved for the fallen veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Satan Dufus were blatantly disrespectful to ANC rules and regulations, other gold star’s families who are still grieving and the soldiers buried there.
If you’re a candidate you can’t use ANC for publicity, political propaganda and commercials. The employee was doing her job and letting campaign staff know film and photographing is not allowed. She was pushed away. A gold star family saw her brother’s headstone in the picture. “According to our conversation with Arlington National Cemetery, the Trump campaign staffers did not adhere to the rules that were set in place for this visit to Staff Sergeant Hoover’s gravesite in Section 60, which lays directly next to my brother’s grave.”
Sergeant Marckesano’s sister continued, “We hope that those visiting this sacred site understand that these were real people who sacrificed for our freedom and that they are honored and respected accordingly.”
Campaign staff, when asked about the TikTok video only that “the campaign will continue to respect the wishes of the Gold Star family members who invited President Trump.” Continue what? He never did respect gold star families since 2016.
This is a pattern of not asking for permission first before doing something. Whether it’s using music, filming, trespassing, editing someone else’s video for promos…etc.

Exactly. Arlingtion National Cemetery is a national monument, it is sacred ground. There are over 400,000 veterans laid to rest there, one family does NOT get to alter the rules.
Section 60 is where the most recent graves of our heroes are located thus there are more surviving relatives visiting to grieve and mourn. For this reason it is the most restricted regarding photographs which can only be taken by a cemetery official.

I thought Air Force veterans were a lot smarter than this. It has been revealed that what you are referring to is a false claim. Which is why THIS host is forced to say “allegedly” when referring to it.
Secondly, unless you are a WW1 veteran, then even this false claim wasn’t referring to you. The statement was supposedly said about WW1 soldiers. So, right off the bat, it’s obvious you just hear something that’s told to you and believe it. Similar to a spoon fed child.
That was supposedly said on a flight. 28 people/witnesses have said that Trump didn’t say that and that it was a false story. Only one person says that happened. And it turns out, the guy who made the claim, was a disgruntled employee who was fired.

The issue is that he is a political candidate in the middle of a campaign. He should have declined when she asked. And she should not have included anyone elses grave in the picture because those families did not give permission. Even if it was an innocent picture, which I don't see how it could be when Arlington had actually warned them about it prior to the ceremony, his campaign ran it on social media and in their video ad for the campaign. The Army has the regulations to protect the area as sacred and protect all families there. These people, and Trumps campaign, literally did not care about the regulations.

I have an uncle, father, mother and brother at Arlington and so have visited a few times. It is awe inspiring to be there. Proud, solemn, peaceful, and grateful were my main feelings. Tears and smiles abound. Have you ever been to a cemetery? It is almost impossible not to step on an adjoining gravesite. Should every visitor be kept from honoring their relatives because they will inadvertently step on someone else's grave? I try not to, but it is impossible. To their credit, Arlington still always looks immaculate. We were given a permanent pass to get in there. My dad would always take us to see any president visiting our city, Democrat or Republican, as a show of respect for their office. To have a former president connect with you on a very personal level and show their respects to your child that died should be an honor, no matter their party. Would you not want a picture with one, or a picture with other celebrities given the opportunity? BTW, no one stopped us from taking pictures or filming my uncle's 21 gun salute. And Arlington soldiers planned, notified us in multiple ways, and met us before each ceremony, with more than one member of the military there, explaining any rules or procedures beforehand. And we were "nobody special." It is hard to believe that President Trump "snuck" in there and wasn't informed of any protocol beforehand as if no one would know he would be there. The difference is that you actually had fallen soldiers there and did not use their deaths as a way to campaign or to take advantage of a situation for your personal benefit. You showed respect. Trump did not. He WAS CAMPAIGNING, using their tombs for votes...much in the same way he's peddling bibles and exploiting the Lord's word to get Christian votes. He doesn't care about anything except himself. BTW Did Trump go and visit the 63 who died on his watch: “During Trump’s presidency, which ran from January 20, 2017, to January 20, 2021, there were 45 combat deaths among U.S. service members reported in Afghanistan, as well as 18 “non-hostile” deaths, according to the Defense Casualty Analysis System.” Oh no, he called their category SUCKERS and LOSERS, sarcastically asking "What was in it for them,?!", All of this tells us that a person does not go to a cemetery of suckers and losers, unless he has something to gain by it. I lost 13 third-cousins in WWI in Italy, and I wouldn't like this type of situation where their tombs are exploited like that.

More people who love their country should do this. He just so happens to be in a political campaign right now but can still do this because he loves the country he lives in and cares about the people. He was invited but you know, I’m sure if any one else in politics wanted to show up in support of the people defending our country and honoring the fallen heroes, they would be probably be welcome. That is patriotism and respect. How dare they hate on someone honoring our country and our people.
Pretending to love your county does not give you the right to break the rules when you go to Arlington, it's not your personal property, it's a national monument and shrine to the fallen heroes who served and died for America.
