  • Burke Lake fish 3D sonar images by Raymarine Axiom 9" touch screen MFD (Multi function dsplay) RV100 3d transducer. Here is a treat for my youtube subscribers. Underwater world in 3D that you have never seen.
I finally found where the fish are hiding in winter time. So many fish all huddled together. Amazing 3d technology and graphics. Raymarine must have hired a bunch of mathematicians and computer 3D gaming graphic engineers to build their fish finder. What an amazing toy. The 3D video look just like a 3D gaming video except this is for real with 3D images reflecting the Burke lake bottom and fish in the lake. The fish depth are colored in the rainbow color order.

Is this how it looks in realtime or is this something only seen on the computer??

Real time, not simulation on computer. I . was using it on Burke Lake

So how do you know how big the fish are that you are scanning on the 3D imaging? The feedback seems to just come back as a group of dots. How would you know whether those dots are a school of bluegills or a school of bass?

Correct we won’t know until we catch them or use a camera to see them. These are most likely bait fish. The 3D dots are even worse, because you can’t tell from big fish to small fish. Big fish like catfish or gar or snakeheads tend to spread out than crappies or bluegills or bait fish. Dow vision and traditional or side vision you can see the big fish vs small fish much easily

@@njfishing1 I know there is a setting where you can color code the dots based on the density of the fish that the soar returns. Does that seem to help you identify the different types of species you are seeing with any consistency?

No, the colors in 3D are for fish depth not size of the fish. I doubt the software on the market currently can do it yet whether Lowrance, garmin or raymarine. Engineers can combine what they see from the down sonar and side sonar to create 3D for us now using dot as fish. They will need a lot more parameters to create 3D fish size in addition to fish depth in the water column. Lowrance and garmin both have livescope and active target scanning so we can see fish eating our bait in live action but in 2d. 3D still got a long way to go!

@@njfishing1 Thanks for the info. Maybe it was a different Raymarine model, but I did see that there was a setting to color code the dots according to density of the returned fish...

I saw one of these in action on a demo boat recently and am really interested, but one thing I'm unclear about, does the axiom store the 3d info in memory for the next trip? If it does store the info does it add more and more detail on every pass over the same ground? And assuming it is stored, can you download it to a computer for later viewing?

kenniffss no. Axiom does not record into internal sd card, only screenshots can be saved. Kind of silly and amazed why none of the FF companies bother to record the sonar images. No it does not add more details once you power it off. Yes as long as you keep the power of the FF on

After a year, how do you like the Raymarine Axiom? Ready to pull the trigger on either Raymarine Axiom Pro, and Garmin 8616xsv. I Like the Raymarine better, but everyone telling me Garmin.
Also, it would be nice if you should a complete tutorial on settings and functions.

V S yes, i will do a tutorial for setting etc. it really depends on what you do with it. Axiom Pro is even better than Axiom. Yes, i love Axiom all 4 sonars in 1 transducer with better price. Garmin don’t have 3d view and limited to SideVision, and more money if u want 3d. Axiom can stream radar, camera, map chart, netflix, Spotify, drone still developing. Sailors use it more than fishermen.

V S yes i like real on the water tutorial better than bench tutorial or simulation. Axiom is way more complicated than just a fishfinder. It needs to be updated twice a year to take advantage of the new functions for free as long as u own the unit as Raymarine continue to build it. It’s amazing so you grow with your Axiom. Well worth the money!!!

Using it primarily for ocean fishing. Inshore and offshore fishing. Overnight fishing 100 miles out. Really do like the Raymarine better, but all saying Garmin.

Roque Agasid best to go to Raymarine forum website and look for LightHouse 3 for fish color. Different LightHouse version has different color codes for depth. The most recent one is LH 3.7 that can see and operate your Dji Magic Pro drone, amazing job!
