The price of this Lechon was 480 peso a Kilo, and we bought half a Kilo, but when it's laid out on the plate there is quite a bit here, and more than enough for me and Yvonne, as Tilly don't like it that much and she is a fussy eater at the best of times.. Yeah i like some street food but one does have to be careful who you are buying it from as some of the street sellers don't have much in the way of hygiene around if you know what i mean.. Do they have food inspectors here Greg lol, well i think they might do but you never hear of any of them around mate, and places like this would never be allowed to sell back in the UK that's for sure.. We rarely eat Lechon, but it does taste nice, especially the crispy skin.. When i first came here i was always getting the squirts from the food here, but i started cooking my own food and the problem stopped, but yeah one as to be careful where you buy from, there are some good vendors but plenty of bad ones too, it's all about learning from experience.. When i first came here Mark not long after that Yvonne became very ill with her pregnancy with Tilly, right from the point of conceiving, and i mean very ill as in she nearly died, so i was just roaming around fending for myself in a strange land, not knowing anything i was just eating fast foods from street vendors, and takeaways etc just trying to survive, and trying to take care of Yvonne at the same time, and she had many stays in various hospitals, so for the first year i had nothing but the squirts mate, and i lost nearly two stone in weight, but i learn fast, and i soon started cleaning up my eating habits, mainly by cooking for myself, and since i started doing that i rarely have any stomach bugs, but maybe i have just become immune to it lol, but i now know where to buy from and where not to.. Once i bought a cooked chicken, and it was so under cooked i reckon a good resuscitation team could have brought it back to life (smile) Thanks for watching mate...

Hiya girls, i think it actually takes about 6 hours to cook a Lechon properly, and this guy said he had been there since 6am selling, so this pig must have been cooked at least the night before, so a lot of time and effort goes into the cooking and selling of this meat.. Hey it was only a 10 peso tip, and i have know this man for a long time, he is also our landlady's maintenance man, so he's a good all rounder and a handy man to have around.. Yeah Yvonne said they make Paksiw with the leftovers.. Her late father had his own Lechon business, reared and culled his own pigs, and cooked them too.. Well i have thought many times about trying a diet as a vegetarian over the years, as i am actually an animal lover and sometimes i do feel guilty about eating animals, but the problem i got there is that i am not a big fan of vegetables, and if i went over to a vegan diet which is more extreme than a vegetarian diet i reckon it would have bad effects on my health and well being, as i have heard Vegan diets can be dangerous for some people, but i know exactly what you mean about seeing Lechon etc when one is a Vegan, hope the thumbnail was not too upsetting for you.. One reason I am careful when eating lechon is the fact they cook it fast and it is not always done. I like low and slow. I just need to find a way to get that crispy skin when finished. Great little video!
Hello Steve, yeah i like all my meat cooked real slow, and Lechon i believe should take at least 6 hours to cook it properly.. Yvonne's late father had his own Lechon business here, he would cull and cook all his own pigs.. To get the skin crispy one needs to brush the skin in fat while it's cooking, so says Yvonne lol.. Hi Ned, there are lots of new places popping up around here, and about time too, as that was one of the things i always said to Yvonne that we don't have any shops around here, and we had to go into the city proper for everything.. There are two petrol stations here in Hinaplanon, with two large empty shops in them, and i am just waiting for a 7 eleven to take up residence in one of them, as i love using the 7 eleven shops and always buy from them.. Yeah it must have been a long day for this seller, because he said he had been there since 6am, and it was something like 4.30pm when we bought our Lechon, and sitting there in the very strong sun must have been draining for him.. I don't really class myself as a vlogger, i just like making videos and capturing certain moments forever to be seen, and sharing what i film.. i am actually a bit too shy to be a Vlogger to be honest, and i'm not really pushy enough, but that's just the way i am.. It might sound strange to you, but it's the history part i'm doing in making these videos that really interests me, as already i have filmed parts of Iligan city that are no longer around, and it's great just looking back sometimes at what i have filmed.. Yeah Yvonne said they make Paksiw with the leftovers.. Her late father had his own Lechon business, reared and culled his own pigs, and cooked them too.. Oh Yvonne is a better Vlogger than me, and i might give her one of my music channels i don't use anymore for her to change into a cooking channel, and it already has 11,000 subs lol, so that is a good start for her, but she ain't having my biggest music channel as that has 171,000 subs (smile) Thanks for watching my friend...

Well i have thought many times about trying a diet as a vegetarian over the years, as i am actually an animal lover and sometimes i do feel guilty about eating animals, but the problem i got there is that i am not a big fan of vegetables, and if i went over to a vegan diet which is more extreme than a vegetarian diet i reckon it would have bad effects on my health and well being, as i have heard Vegan diets can be dangerous for some people, but i know exactly what you mean about seeing Lechon etc when one is a Vegan, hope the thumbnail was not too upsetting for you.. One reason I am careful when eating lechon is the fact they cook it fast and it is not always done. I like low and slow. I just need to find a way to get that crispy skin when finished.

Hello Steve, yeah i like all my meat cooked real slow, and Lechon i believe should take at least 6 hours to cook it properly.. Yvonne's late father had his own Lechon business here, he would cull and cook all his own pigs.. To get the skin crispy one needs to brush the skin in fat while it's cooking, so says Yvonne lol.. Hi Ned, there are lots of new places popping up around here, and about time too, as that was one of the things i always said to Yvonne that we don't have any shops around here, and we had to go into the city proper for everything.. There are two petrol stations here in Hinaplanon, with two large empty shops in them, and i am just waiting for a 7 eleven to take up residence in one of them, as i love using the 7 eleven shops and always buy from them.. yep, maybe I am wrong because I am no expert, but a while ago I am sure I remember Lechon was mainly for special occasions, but now you do see it for sale more generally. I am not complaining because it is a nice treat and I don't mind a bit of Lechon more frequently ! Nice to see you all again.
Hiya John, yeah Lechon is mainly for them special occasions, but you know what it's like in the Philippines mate, they will always find that special occasion to have some Lechon (smile) you know like birthdays, funerals, Graduations, Christmas, New Year, Easter or Holy week as they call it here, a new arrival in the family etc, the list goes on, but yeah if one has something good to often it sort of loses that magical special feeling of having it.. Yeah it must have been a long day for this seller, because he said he had been there since 6am, and it was something like 4.30pm when we bought our Lechon, and sitting there in the very strong sun must have been draining for him.. I don't really class myself as a vlogger, i just like making videos and capturing certain moments forever to be seen, and sharing what i film.. i am actually a bit too shy to be a Vlogger to be honest, and i'm not really pushy enough, but that's just the way i am.. It might sound strange to you, but it's the history part i'm doing in making these videos that really interests me, as already i have filmed parts of Iligan city that are no longer around, and it's great just looking back sometimes at what i have filmed.. Many thanks for watching my friend, and i will stop by your channel before i finish on YT for the night (smile)...
