    Hi Krish, just a little correction, in this video and even in your previous video you said that p-value and the significance value are the same and are denoted by alpha. Actually they are not the same.
    Significance value/level (alpha) is defined as the probability of rejecting the null hypothesis if it is true. Also known as the false positive (FP) rate.
    In contrast, p-value is defined as "the smallest" level of significance at which we can "still" reject the null hypothesis.
    For a particular test with a particular level of significance (alpha), p-value obtained can be greater, lesser or even equal to the alpha.
    The decision rule is to "reject" the null hypothesis if p-value < alpha.

    ANOVA is generally used when we want to test the
    significance of the difference between more than
    two independent sample means. Here we dont analyze variances.

      Yes you are right tha Anova test check if the means of two or more groups are significantly different from each other but this comes under the analysis of variance.

      we don't accept any hypothesis.....we only conclude whether to reject null hypothesis or do not reject null hypothesis

    For the medication - IQ question -- shouldn't we take H1 as mean > 100 -- and it becomes a one-tailed test. However, the question is just whether meds affect IQ or not - could be positive or negative, hence perhaps two-tailed

    1.96 and -1.96 are nothing but confidance intervals in terms of standard deviation. And we'll get their limits by substituting them in l

    Hi Krish, I have a doubt, for One Tail Test with alpha=.05 when we are testing for the nil hypothesis to be rejected or accepted, do we still check if the p value < .05 or should we now check whether the p value < .025 ?

    If I am not wrong, you can never accept the null hypothesis, there is only rejection or enough evidence is not found to reject it.

    in both the example the value does not fall in range so rejected null and accepted alternate , but in first example conclusion was there is change in IQ , second example conclusion claim is Inaccurate , my understanding is like claim is accurate . could someone help?

      They were talking about the medicine affecting intelligence, it could be in two ways either it could increase IQ or it could decrease IQ after consumption of new drug.
