I LOVE things like this. Anything that lets me "draw" something. Like the Weston Audio Analog Time Segment Oscillator! Hopefully Tiptop clones this. I suppose the 4ms Spectral Multiband Resonator is the closest thing to the 296e. The Rossum Electro Morpheus does crazy filter and EQ stuff.
Nice video Tutorial Todd. I have a question for you. At the moment I have and easel and Meta 416 exapnder (made by Guy Drieghe who is a good friend of me) I intend to buy in the future another 4u powerd boat to put on top of it and like to put 296e spectral Processor and I thought also a 285 Frequency shifter. Now I have 1 module left and don't know exactly which module I can put in, maybe a preset Manager or something esle ? Considering my setup with easel and expander what I have. Do I need a quad function generator or preset manager, source of uncertainty or...... ? Maybe you could help me out. Greetings from Luc - Belgium
Luc Debeck Hi Luc, sounds like a cool proposed setup! My tendency would to be to add one off the following: 257e, 255, or 256e. With these modules you can create diverse envelopes from just a single EG and send those discreet EGs to various bandwidth cv inputs on the 296e. A 206e preset manager would memorize the “e” modules but none of the others and would offer CV processing which the 296e cries out for in my humble opinion. Cheers! Todd
Thanks Todd, I agree with you, I certainly need on of those. And which would be better, 256e or 257e. More options with the 257e ? I will search for video's of those 2 modules
Once again, your insight and thoughtful way of teaching shines bright! Thank you for the tutorial - excellent!
djangosfire many thanks Adam! More on the way...
Nice tutorial, thanks Todd.
Auxar my pleasure Auxar.
Great tutorial - many thanks!!!
Another great tutorial!
Cray thank you Ross :-)
Marc Verbos did what he calls the bark filter...is it the same type of filter?
jeff wackenthal Yes, the Verbos Bark is most definitely similar to the Buchla 296e. Buchla has 16 fixed filters the Verbos has 12
Ok thks you Todd!

the UI looks like the Acxel Resynthesizer, in principle. What inspired the touch UX for the 296e?

Luc Debeck my first choice would be the 257e-lots of possibilities indeed! Including pulse outs
@@crappie050764 how can I email you some links? You can reach me through toddbarton.com
Thanks, opens a lot of possibilities with that module
