Hey man you probably won't see this but this content is perfection. Not a video essay, no arguments or retrospectives, just straight Oblivion gameplay. Your commentary is perfect because it's so restrained, you know when to let the game take the lead and when to chime in with something cool to say. wanted to find "Oblivion nostalgia" and finally came upon this and it is just perfect. Thanks for uploading this, for even having the idea of to do something like this, I bet it was fun to make

@@DarkLOREDash Not at all, you have the perfect balance. I was frustrated because I wanted to watch some Oblivion nostalgia stuff and every video was a "before you buy" or 12 hour video essay narration. You do a perfect mix of both, allowing the game dialogue and music to take center stage. Like the Waterfront Tax mission, you let the game take front and center but chime in some interesting lore about Raven and his presence there. Anyways, I'll stop glazing, but thanks for the solid content man!

Ive realized more lately that is a big part of the nostalgia is just the head space and place in life i was in at the time i got to first experience this and other games. I do think that plays a huge role in the reason why at least i am so drawn to them still.

You have possibly one of the greatest playthrough systems I have ever seen. I have thoroughly enjoyed your long videos of all of your escapades in oblivion. And have been recommending it to other friends who need that little bit of nostalgia of how good this game is.

I guess I never finished the Mage’s Guild before Thieves’ Guild cuz I’d never even considered that you might end up stealing from yourself. Absolutely hilarious, I’m glad the UOBP modders were so thorough.
Watching the Thieves Guild series progress, it’s culminated into this video being is one of the greatest lore retrospectives on RUclips across all games and platforms. We’ll done mate, it’s outstanding!

@@DarkLOREDash I'm mastering acrobatics to get to hard to reach places and find anything hidden out of normal reach. I want to see what is on top of the waterfall area in Vilverin and have found that some of the ruins in the over world you can find some things not normally accessible but unfortunately just basic loot so far.
One of the spire/tower things that you can jump down into if your acrobats is high enough had a skeleton and a chest with some scattered wine bottles around making me think he fell in with his loot and couldn't get out🤣🤣🤣
Otherwise I started collecting the Goblin Totems to start a war, I hadn't done before either✌️
@@DarkLOREDash So I took a brief look through your Playlists and it didn't seem that you have already covered the Main Quest of the Shivering Isles.
I bring this up because my build this playthrough is without armor with the intention of using the clothing item you get at the end of the main quest. Also Dawnfang is my favorite weapon in the game. Not entirely the most powerful but you never have to actually recharge it✌️

Incredibly congruent, I need this to sate my attention span when working. ;)
What always amazed me was how much connections the Mages and Thieves guild had. Everything I had read and seen had mentioned that Oblivion's development was basically giving someone an area and telling them "Make the content there" basically. Like someone would do everything in a particular dungeon more or less on their own. Or everything in a section of a town like the Waterfront or Imperial Gardens and such. So it's neat to see the connections and realize people basically had to work closer with each other on it because it wasn't coming down from on high. At least from what I gathered reading around. So it was less a story lead saying "We need you to do X" but someone designing a Thieves Guild mission and a Mages Guild mission going "Oh hey, we have regional overlap, tie it together?" on their own.
Also probably explains things like why the status of Archmage and stealing your own staff potentially wasn't covered. No one on high caught that and corrected for it and the two people working on it just didn't connect it in their almost compartmentalized development.
I just find the sort of stories behind that and the speculation you can do like that fascinating.
And also why some factions, like the Arena and Fighter's Guild was really as disconnected and standalone as I felt it was. Either didn't think to or didn't want to.

Oblivion's Dark Brotherhood gets more rap, but the Thieves Guild has arguably the better quest line and is overall the more interesting guild in the game.

The thieves guild quest line always had this feel to it that reminds me of the movie "National Lampoon's: Animal House". The Guild seems like some fraternity that just likes to haze the new comers. They only want to prank and steal and fuck with Hieronymys Lex. Lex taking on the role of the dean of students who's obsessed with the frat house. I don't know it just makes me laugh to think about it. Especially when the quest to get Lex fired fits the vibe to a tee.

One thing I love about Elder Scrolls is how well it encapsulates racism and colonization. Seeing the gentrification of Layawiin reminds me of how we in the states have treated our Native peoples and how we mistreat immigrants. Seeing some of the disenfranchised Khajiit and Argonians side with the racist countess also shows how desperation for things to get better can sometimes push minorities to support those who hurt them. For example, Im trans and youd be surpeised how many Gay people are anti trans hoping conservatives will somehow spare them

You are like Oxhorn but for Oblivion. I'm all for it! I love Oxhorn, but fallout isn't really my type of game. I liked new vegas a lot, but besides that the others aren't interesting for me. Elder scrolls, however, is always interesting for me.

I've noticed to that if you don't do the thieves guild quest line to steal hroimirs ice staff, it won't be there when you become arch mage, and you will never see it in the game, unless you do the thieves guild quest line, that is
I've always wondered why one of the rules is "don't steal from the poor." Why would I want to? They don't have anything worth stealing anyway.
I have never seen a light do that in this game
