    the government, schools, and loan companies have partnered to keep tuition high. Then they try to "help" you pay it off even though they caused the whole problem

      The government is the problem. They passed unconstitutional laws that took away bankruptcy protections. They then guarantee the loans. It's not a concidence that college costs went up faster after Obama kicked out private loan companies.

      @@The_Revolutionist no they shouldn't. Then again after premed i switched to engineering even though i had a 29 mcat score. 200k of medical school debt kept me out

      @@thedude5040 Yes, they should. Education is a human right, just like healthcare. Bernie's plan would also have canceled your "200k medical student debt" instantly if you attended medschool before College for All. So you shouldn't have switched to engineering for that reason... you made a mistake here.

    Med school can wait. I'll have to learn how to be financially independent and learn more about stocks and forex then i can use that leverage to pay for my tuition fees and do well on my premed years

    Thank you for sharing about the cost of medical school. The more hear it, the better I feel about the shortcomings that that prevented me from even getting to the point where I would stress about it. I love the student debt loan management videos because it helps me make smarter choices about taking out a hmm loan in the future.

    Student Loans is still a foreign concept to me, probably because it's not common. Here in the PH the only ways to pay for the tuition fee in Medical School are scholarships or those who can afford it (based on other people's and my family physician's experiences). Thanks for the informative video.

    You graduate, you are not employed in your field of study, you take some underpaid odd job, and yet you are still require to pay back your student loans. This should be a crime.

    Why is the cost of school going up , but yet these school teach the same recycled info year after year. You would assume with advancing of technology would lead to decreasing tuition. Makes no sense.

    ahhh I hate when people say they cant go to college because they're broke! Man i came to the US when i was 15, i learned how to speak English, and at the same time i did well in high school!. Once i applied to college i decided to create a construction company which it helped me to pay for my college and get experience in the construction field. You can do it !!!

    currently at SGU and its about 93k per year here. this is no joke, you work hard here and pass or go broke for life.

      Same here. I did a rotation in Argentina where medical students have a free education along with German students and linked med schools between Argentina and Germany. the students there are debt free and able to get a residency in the US.
      A huge slap to the face to anyone who attends offshore Caribbean schools like SGU. However they don't want you to know this.. obviously to make money. Overall the US education system is all about selling the American dream. Something that's a shame.
      If I could turn back time I would have gone to another country medical school.

      Shant Ohanian He knew that he wouldn’t get financial help from his parents, so he knew that he’d have to “front” it. The scholarship was his way of paying for it and “fronting” the cost. In a previous video, he said that the scholarship covered almost everything, but he did still have a few expenses to account for after all was said and done. Hope this helps!

      Imo the best option is: do nursing but take advanced biology and chemistry classes. Always seek out shadowing oppertunities. This way when you graduate you have medical experience when you apply to med schooo. Also if you fail to get into medical school you at least have the bsn degree for a cool $60k starting wage

    I don’t think Columbia is free tuition as NYU is. They are instead a debt free tuition which is different, but still obviously amazing.

    Try going to med school for a year and having to quit after first year because you no longer have money to attend. And, you no longer qualify for loans because your parents no longer make more than 70k. Ya that's Canada. Story of my life

    Almost seems a bit depressing in the US. Your debt doesn't even leave you when you're bankrupt?? Sounds awful.
    Also, 10% interest! How is that even legal?

      @@ellenrushanian6882 For Australian citizens it costs 10k a year which gets put on your HECS debts. Basically you only pay when you're earning above a certain salary, so if you're not earning enough money you don't have to pay.

    In India we have both government funded medical schools and private med schools
    For getting into govt ones you have to give an exam in which like 1,500,000 students compete for 60,000 seats
    Well at least we don't have student loan crisis

      you have to pay like 60 lac inr which is equal to 83000 dollars just to get in
      You really don't have to be smart to be a doctor if you are rich,just get the minimum qualifying scores

    I have no help for college but Fafsa and my other scholarships cover my tuition and books so I’m basically there for free. I’m not sure how to go to medical school if I have no help from anyone, I don’t want to rely on loans for everything

    so my school is offering me $41,000 which cuts my cost down to $13,000 per year and I am terrified because my family is not showing any sign of wanting to pay.they said community but the community college does not have my major. i am trying to apply for last minute scholarships (it being late May and all) and i am trying to consider whether or not student loans are worth it and where to look. if anyone can please help me that would be great bc i am having breakdowns from the panic and worry my family is causing me.

      In community college, just major in biology, chemistry, anything in science. You don’t have to major in a science to go a medical school as long as you take the prerequisites for med school

    Post 9/11 Chapter 33 GI bill. College was free and I was paid 2300 dollars a month in living expenses. Also did workstudy, Going to school was very lucrative

    As a person on uni in country with free education I have no idea why I am watching. Our uni even pays us like $100 per semestr just becouse. We dont have to pay anything exept housing (we dont have campus so we rent apartment in the city) and food.

      Fischer Cushing it’s literally impossible for so many people. I’m guessing you either had help from someone or you had fantastic grades and got merit based scholarships.
