thanks mate, I am still trucking, just didn't have as much time as I would have liked for projects last year but I should have more time this year so I will have more videos on the way! :)
cheers Michi! really glad you enjoyed it, was a lot of fun to try the Oak Leaf pattern its one of my favorite patterns of the war! Next video I am currently working will cover homemade Italian camo patterns. hope your keeping safe over there mate!
thanks Scott! high praise indeed coming from you! I really need to return to pea-dot camo in the future as I've learned a lot more for doing camo since
Thanks. I see a great improvement with each one you paint and that’s great as many never try to push themselves to a higher level. I can honestly say I see it with each one you paint. KUTGW!🤘🏼🤘🏼
Yay, Shane is back! You should find a way to bottle and sell your videos, they are not only great modelling and painting tutorials, but your voice is so soothing, it could cure depression! Hope you are okay, stay safe and keep them videos coming!
Suspense over and worth the wait. I do like the way that it turned out. Super easy to follow tutorial, just what I need for my painting(and bad memory). This will be in one of my playlists for future reference for sure. I think this is the first time I've seen you use a glaze, and first time I've seen you use the silver/black metallic mix, both work exceptionally well and is something I will definitely be using on my figures in the future. Guess I will have to order some online later. Oh and Shane, your not the only one will cotman problems, my usual supplier hasn't re stocked for over a year now and although they don't sell many of them the stock has dwindled away only leaving the sizes I don't want or damaged brushes that are unusable. For the very fine detail I have found that a royal langnickel zen 3 multimedium 20/0 a nice brush to use. Super fine tip that's a lot longer than usual. I have found it really helpful for doing super fine detailing like eyes, eyebrows and hard to reach places. And they're a bit cheaper than cottmans too. Not sure how durable they are, only time will tell. Thank you for the video mate, stay safe and well from us here in (surprisingly sunny ) Wales 🏴
awesome recommendation ! I shall definitely checkout those brushes cheers! It seems getting good brushes these days is getting a bit tricky indeed so any solid brushes to add to the collection is greatly welcomed! cheers mate, stay safe!
thanks mate! I aim to do some USMC subjects in the future but as for Modern stuff been eying some of Live Resin's SF figures so we might see them at some stage on the channel
great job man! I just started making models and stuff. Im making a 6 foot battle of the bulge set. made out of 1/35 models. If you would want to see it ill start to make videos on it and show you! You did really well on this model. Keep up the good work!
Hey man new sub here...absolutely loving your videos the figures look amazing!!! I just getting back into models again after 20 years since I was a kid... Ive purchased a tamiya panther and waffen ss infantry sets aswell has a Humbrol axis paint set oil based but I see you use acrylic paints.. Do u have any advice on using the oil based ones for now till I can afford more? Many thanks
Thanks! I'm very glad that your finding my videos helpful, though I can't give you much advice on figure painting with oils, but if check out my mate over on the Small Soldier channel he does a lot of great vidoes working with oils. Hope that helps
@@longlance67 Okay I will definatley check out his videos many thanks. I also purchased a set of the AK acrylics waffen spring/summer paint set this morning to use on my infantry and I will be using this video as a guide. But would still like to use the oils on my tanks.
I do really like the result, better than I could have done but I must ask why did you use so many different greens for mixing the light green color of the pattern when you could have just used the German Camo Bright Green from vmc
I am aware that VMC has standalone color for this shade. But its way way too bright almost looking like neon green, I've used the Camo Bright Green in the past and it never looks right least to my eye so I decided to create our own mix in this tutorial which looks more in scale
As usual, a fantastic tutorial. When people ask me how I paint my figures, I direct them to your channel. Any chance you'll so some Bravo 6 Vietnam figures in the future? I'd love to see how you vary those up.
cheers mate I really appreciate you spreading the word of my videos its very kind of you! I've been keeping an eye on Bravo 6's Vietnam range to do some videos on as they are some of the best resin series out there, so watch this space!
Great video and really preaty paint job. But if you wont to increse historical acurrecy you need to paint difrent camo type on the helmet cover and smock because in waffen ss regulations wearing camo like this was forbaded becasue this set up give you worse cmouflage. But it is really up to you how you gona paint. And again you really done good figure. 😀
Super stuff Shane
cheers mate!
Looks great ,thanks .
Thanks for watching!
Exceptional work Shane on many levels

Amazing

Very good
Thanks
A very intresting and informativ iwould like to see that on a 1/20 scale model.
it would paint up in much the same method, with just a little more surface area to work with owing to to larger scale
Rewatching this!!
Is that a wet pallet !?
Cool a wax paper?
Outstanding Camo!! Beautiful rendering!!
Bravo!!
yes its a homemade wet palette made with some baking or grease proof paper

always good to go back to basics and slowly work my way through the different camo types

Hello. great tutorial. If i don´t have vallejo 71041 (dark black green) , is there any other colour i can use instead? greetins from Buenos Aires.
any dark green will work if add a little black into the mix :)

Another great video. Random question - where do you get your Vallejo paints from? My usual supplier is running very thin.
I get mine from HobbyMad.ie which has the full range in stock
Very nice, how long does it actually take from start to finish?
so excluding drying times it take about 12-13 hours over a week in my case
any idea of what model it was?
The figure is from Rado Miniatures
Do you know what those 3 little things that appear on wss uniforms are, they look like they are sewn on. (Like on his shoulders and neck)
so those little tabs on his back and shoulders are loops for attaching foliage for camouflage to break up his outline
@@longlance67 thanks, that’s very interesting! It would probably be uncomfortable to have branches attached to you back though
@@ScaleMilitaryModels I guess it would be, but it would probably be for scouts or snipers lying down so it would be more comfortable
@@Gussyboy06 That makes sense

was not aware of that standing order! it makes a lot of sense shall keep it mind going forward thanks for the tip!
Incorrect. Perfectly normal to have the helmet and smock in the same type of camouflage material.
Good video but the music was way too loud.
My video editor kept jacking up the sound even when I had set as low as possible
Eh, hate to be ' that guy '...but I think you forgot the messkit strap...it goes over the handle, and you should be able to see a small buckle as wel.
ya it wasn't molded on and I'm too bothered by it not being there but I shall keep an eye out for it in future
Is it just me or does alot of figures that are running have one leg back, and there aren't alot that are just going to take a step forward?
its probably down to having one foot in contact with the ground for ease of mounting on a base I think
Super..my downfall is painting faces!
I have a beginner tutorial in the video description below it might be helpful to you
