Congrats on the Baillons! It was nice to chat to you and Richard briefly and I'm amazed to see how many different species you caught! I only managed 3 fish on the Wednesday - a corkwing and two of the little pouting but being a total noob to LRF I was quite stoked with that. You did well you get anything other than a Pouting on Wednesday! They were getting to the bait first for 95% of the day. Hopefully the smaller hooks work. They did for me. I only started LRF in December 2021. I soon realised that small outfishes everything. Just trust the process. Let me know how you get on next time. Glad you enjoyed the video too. Thanks Dan, another great video, good haul for the day. My top five, as you asked, Long spined sea scorpion, Tompot blenny, Leopard Spot goby, Sand goby and Goldsinny Wrasse all caught from my usual fishing ground around Portsmouth and Gosport.

Cracking video Dan! Well done on a fantastic session. I’ve only caught one of the “special species” to date, my first Baillons a few weeks ago from the same mark. Those sand smelt answered a question I couldn’t work out when I was at Swanage, what the small fish were! I thought maybe mullet fry, glad I know now, I’ll target them next time!
Thanks James. It was one of those freakish once in a blue moon sessions. Everything just fell into place. Well done on your Baillons. They are a special one. There were a few shoals of things hanging around mid-water while we were there. There was Pollock, Sand Smelt and Sand Eels. You could see why the Bass were cruising under there all day.
Wicked days fishing. You two travelled some miles that day! Gutted i didnt bump into you guys wednesday evening, i nearly popped down (as I live close to Weymouth pier) But my back still isnt really up to it 😖

Next try fishing the slipway the people were crabbing on that you walked past before stone pier Weymouth , interesting things swim past on a high tide .

Black Bream has to be one of my favourite fish to catch - up there with Bass and Mackerel - all fantastic fighting fish. Impressive session and fabulously filmed once again. Tell me pls, what is the one book to identify all the UK species?

Thanks mate. We have parked on the pier and paid for the fishing at the same time both time we went. We got there as the gates opened at left at 5. Think it was £22.50 for parking and both of us fishing.

Really do like the format of your vids. I.e. not a lot of chatter you merely put points of interest on the screen. Ps what was the rope for (blue climbing rope just before the bass incident) I ask as I happen to climb as well.
Thanks. Yeah I'm not one to shove irrelevant conversations onto people watching. Too many videos have stuff relevant to the person but pointless to everyone else. Like to keep mine snappy and to the point. That rope was being used by guys repairing the pier. They had massive joists hanging from it while the drilled and screwed it from a dingy.
Have you ever eaten wrasse? There is only a few species I would keep for the tsble and only of i think i will use them quickly but i was thinking a wrasse cstch and cook moght be interesting
I don't eat any fish personally. Not a fan. Give me a steak any day! Eating Wrasse is frowned upon over here and no one ever does really. As they are so slow growing, the bigger ones are prized and cherished here. A trophy we'd be happier to swim back strong than dead.
