One of the criminally less discussed things about Rivals of Aether II is its monetization. It will cost ~$30 buckaroos and the future new chars are planned to be for *absolute FREE.* Plus, 4 new chars are planned for 2025. You can still buy skins and all with real money, but it's really optional and grant nothing but flex your swag in-game. So, awesome game + half the price of """full""" price games nowdays + community support + new chars for free + future new features like Workshop + optional swag skins… I think we're robbing them by just buying the game alone. LOL
Rivals 2 is the first game I'm actually excited to spend more money on. The fact that the game has such a low price of entry at only $30 and all future character additions and other updates will be totally free, I want to be able to support this game and studio as much as I can. And some of the skins look absolutely amazing. I'll definitely be dropping the cash on the Axolotl Orcane and Chef Loxodont skins on day one.
It's worth noting that the slice of casual gamers in the world is thinning as of rn. As gaming becomes more popular altogether, more people are normalising spending longer hours on the hobby, and being competitive especially in naturally competitive games. Games like these are much less of a niche than they used to be.
Rivals is a better game period. The simple fact that there is no lag in the indie game but lag in the AAA one is egregious. Can change characters whenever without annoying screens to go through, can restart a game at the drop of a hat. It is the better made game, regardless of your stance on casual and competitive.
Rivals is a better platform fighter but it’s not a game for casuals whatsoever, if you don’t have platform fighter experience already then the game is almost impossible to start, everyone is way way above any newcomer. Plus there’s no items or recognizable characters. It’s a bit unfair to compare the two games because they’re not intended for the same audience
If newcomers play other newcomers, they will have an absolute blast. The problem you are describing is only a problem for newcomers playing veterans Not only is their skill based matchmaking and ranked to help with this, but if you have even one friend who starts around the same time as you, you'll be having a blast immediately
I'd argue casuals would have fun with a game like this still. Just look at Dunkey's RoA2 video. There is still plenty of goofy stuff to be done in this game, and the overall game feel will keep people invested in playing it for longer
@@Extracredittttt it’s incredibly difficult to get a newcomers play rivals, why would they play rivals when they could play smash which has their favorite characters, items, more fun stages and a lower skill floor
@@lukearaiza8510 dunkey isn’t a newcomer to all platform fighters tho, he’s got basic mechanical awareness which is all you need and it’s what newcomers don’t have
@@woyzing can't relate, but maybe I just have cooler friends than you who are open to new experiences lol Not sure why smash existing makes someone not even try a different game in the same genre. Another thing to note that RoA 2 combat n movement doesn't feel clunky in comparison to Smash Ult, it's the only reason why i hate Smash Ultimate, i just been playing Nasb 1&2 n hopefully ROA 2 comes to PS4/5
It better be superior to smash cuz this game was specifically designed for competitive play. Smash was designed for casual play, but somehow it still works competitively
@@NardoHidnLeef Me personally, I think you should play the game before you make judgements. Rivals of Aether 1 was an amazing game, and now with more funding and the quality of the team, Rivals 2 will become just as amazing
I have a lot of faith in the game because of how attentive and responsive the devs are.
Me too!
Just by playing the game you can FEEL some design choices were made with community and balance in mind, completely different from smash

Plus it's FOMO-free. No limited time cosmetics. Absolutely goated
You can also earn basically all the skins just by playing from what i understand
The fact that you can't see the quality of the opponent's internet connection and refuse to play against him in SSBU is ridiculous

Is already better*
The netcode is so much better then smash ulti, I've been really enjoying myself during this demo weekend
Joker's fine as he is
Smash Ultimate is the better casual game. Rivals 2 is the better competitive game.
However, I think that Rivals 2 will have tutorials and other casual modes like rivals 1, which is good for newcomers like me

I just want the pop star mouse and sauna ape to make it back in. Those guys were my favorites.
The workshop 4 will be returning!
Nice video! I think you have a good thing going with this channel, looking forward to more content.
Thanks so much!
If it had better keyboard support it would have been perfect
Glad this video came up in my feed, rivals 2 is gonna be sick
Agreed on all counts
will Rivals of Eather II also be customizable with mods like the predecessor?
My biggest problem with Ultimate is the shire size of the roster, i dont have time to learn the matchup against arround 80 charackters.
1:10 i haven’t played Ult in forever… who tf is Aegis?????
Aegis is Pyra/Mythra. I don't play Xenoblade so don't ask me why.
In this current gaming climate im gonna buy this game day 1, which is a huge display of trust these days 😂

What will Rivals 2 be available on?
PC only for at least a year, Consoles once more content has been added and the game is more polished (the devs said this)
