Arcade Fire - Wake Up
Somethin' filled up
my heart with nothin',
someone told me not to cry.
But now that I'm older,
my heart's colder,
and I can see that it's a lie.
Children wake up,
hold your mistake up,
before they turn the summer into dust.
If the children don't grow up,
our bodies get bigger but our hearts get torn up.
We're just a million little gods causin' rain storms turnin' every good thing to
rust.
I guess we'll just have to adjust.
With my lightnin' bolts a glowin'
I can see where I am goin' to be
when the reaper he reaches and touches my hand.
With my lightnin' bolts a glowin'
I can see where I am goin'
With my lightnin' bolts a glowin'
I can see where I am, go-go, where I am
You'd better look out below - Видеоклипы
dude this is arcade fire
I love U2 tey are the greatest band ever!
Finally a real U2 fan! Glad you liked it. :)
Very cool song this one! It reminds of the vertigo tour of U2, where they used this song as a intro! Everytime when I listen to this song all kind of good memories come back! Really thanks for sharing and making such a great video! Very nice pictures!
Cool, two great bands together. Thumbs up.
if all of you would be familiar with the U2 vertigo tour, you would know this was the intro of the shows. therefore it's in some way related to U2. U all should have been at one of their concert and see the crowd when the first notes of this song started playing......... just amazing
For all the dumb people who leave negative comments about this song and U2: You should know that this was the opening song of the Vertigo tour. It's an awesome track and left unforgettable memories to the milions of fans who went to see concerts. When this song started playing the adrenaline started flowing at the speed of light. If you werent there and never felt like this maybe all of you have a lame life, not the fans who watch this and KOelise who posted it. Thank you so much...awesome video
U2 a great band their music will never die :)
good job, opening for vertigo tour. If u2 didnt come out to this i would never know who arcade fire were
My first u2 concert was during vertigo tour, i think this is a great song choice for a tribute.
This is the song U2 used during the Vertigo tour right before they came on stage so any U2 fan who saw them on that tour would know and understand why this song was used for a tribute.
This is great! Did you know that Larry Mullen Jr is actually a huge fan of the Arcade Fire? I love them both!
love this song
My bad. YEah U2 are a great band...people forget what an influence they've had on popular music over the last few years ;)
Happy christmas btw :)
great stuff
thaks for the upload
It's very simple boys and girls. 'Wake Up' by Arcade Fire was used by U2 during their Vertigo Tour in 2005 as the music that they walked on stage to. That's why this combines U2 and Arcade Fire.
Arcade Fire also supported the band on that tour.
thank you fucking idiots
I love this song!!!
'No Southern Accent' did a great cover of this song. its an A cappella cover, so the whole thing is just voices.... its really powerful. search itunes for 'no southern accent" and listen to the preview.
Oh, and by the way KOelise; thank you for the video.
bea251 you said it all. ( I was fortunate to win hot area tickets and I agree with you about the awesome sensation felt when we heard this opening song... )
thank you
thank you :D
this song is the only reason i watched where the wild things are! haha but i actually got the movie and liked it.
thanks...
excelente cancion
ty :D
I still don't think anyone gets it. It's a world famous band playing another band's song as their intro. There is no greater flattery. That's like a chef serving you an appetizer prepared by another chef, which he admires, before he prepares your dinner. :)
Prefer Arcade Fire's video but thanks for the lyrics.....
When you ARE older....you can see a lie coming from miles away......sooooo true
Thank you for your words Chamalla33.
People can't read the title or they don't know what a tribute is. And the Arcade Fire song is related to U2 cause U2 had opened the Vertigo shows with it. People who do not know that they are not U2 fans and people who just come here to be rude do not have anything better to do in life. They are losers.
pretty good
thank you. I like smart people.
@Giantsfan2104 I think for a long awaited tour such as this one was,it was well organized. While Bono's edge has soften a bit ( Not so in your face) he has undoubtedly came at it in a different approach an one was this song it set the whole tour the message was clear, great song great moment in time one that I will remember always
thanks for watching. you are a very kind person - something hard to find over here.
have nice weekend
Thank you. I like smart people like you. Glad you enjoyed it. :D
there are so many people who make tributes to their favorite actors and movies and singers with some particular song, it bothers me why people criticize this one - if I wrote arcade fire there... they are stupid and when I realized 99% were really stupid I decided to waste my time replying them all.
but right now I feel better.... you said I was funny :P
if some people didnt know .....arcade fire played this song before U2 went on stage for the vertigo tour ....
My husband the biggest U2 Fan!! To him the greatest ever, well I tell him no the Beatles, but anyway. The beatles are of course untouchable, U2 best, but wow Arcade Fire is good. Watch out they are good!!:)
glad you liked it.
thanks for watching. :D
Let me explain something to the simlpetons who enjoy pointing out the obvious.
Yes, this isn't U2.
Arcade Fire's "Wake up" was played over the speakers at the start of every concert during the Vertigo Tour. The house lights were turned off at the end of the second verse, then the song slowly muted, the band walked on stage, and the concert began, with either "City of Blinding Lights" or "Vertigo".
That's probably why KOelise decided to use "Wake Up" in their tribute.
if you dont cry. your heart is dead
Opening Vertigo Tour :)
@pokabeb Ty. only U2 fans understand why I chose this song... few of them had the chance to go to the Vertigo tour, and at the Hot Arena feel the emotion while listening to this song... I was there, so I can say anything about it and for those who were not there, they should keep their bad comments to themselves.
During the Conspiracy for Hope Tour in '85, The Police- in one of their final shows before breaking up- had U2 join them onstage and gave them their instruments after playing "Invisible Sun" together. While the performance had clear political implications, it was also a "passing of the torch" from one group to another. U2 seems to be passing the torch on in their own right, and the Arcade Fire are worthy recipient! If they are good enough for U2, they should be good enough for their fans too!
I agree with Koelise
but I wanted Arcade Fire - that reminds me Vertigo Tour opening while I was waiting for Bono to show up on stage in Brazil from Vip area... amazing
If it's a lame to you why are you here? you saw it, didn't like it, so never come back... who's asking you for it?
omg..
@JorgeBramont
Vertigo Tour was the first and only show I went to, it was great, and that's why I chose Arcade Fire cause it was a nice opening :)
I don't think so. At least I haven't seen it. However, Arcade Fire has performed it with David Bowie, you can find that on youtube.
....ommioddio.....solo chi era a roma può capire cosa sto provando..... :'}
You are a trully U2 fan. The rest of people don't know nothing. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for watching
Have a nice week
@Giantsfan2104 thanks finally I found someone who got it :)
I can choose any band, any song I like and do whatever I want. You can do the same thing. Do what you want I don't care.
Hey why all the negatives. This works well. Would have been a great cover for U2 to do. Well done mate.
@mappleyard
thanks, one in a million sometimes agrees with me. There is hope in this world LOL
yes, exactly!! xD
I don't understand all the bad responses :S
Its not U2 singing the song... its a tribute to U2... Arcade Fire is singing it.
@chocolatehater23
1- I can use any pictures I want ( U2, yes )
2- I can use any song I want ( Arcade Fire, yes - why? Because U2 sang Wake up as the opening song at Vertigo Tour. Have you been there? I bet not. I was. )
It's a tribute to both bands, if you liked good, if you hated it, leave it alone.
Thanks for watching...
Maybe you can go this time and enjoy yourself!
Oh yeah, this is sure u2.
I'm pretty sure U2 and arcade fire have sang this together, but this isn't U2 singing currently.
maybe because it was the opening-song of u2's vertigo-tour
@KOelise i liked i was just kind of confused at first. its all coll..
by the way, do you know what year wake up came out? :)
Why are you mad at this?
It's clear:
U2 TRIBUTE (gap) (music by) ARCADE FIRE - WAKE UP
This the arcade fire version - no u2 here at all
@619cujo I kind of think that Arcade Fire has shown more talent, or at least more potential given what they've done in only 3 albums. Listening over them you can hear a definite stylistic evolution while U2 just seems like they're just kind of stagnant. Don't get me wrong, I like U2 but I feel like Arcade Fire is more dynamic.
@RileyBurgess This track is by arcade fire...
this isn't the same version as the one on the album is it?
where did you find this?
(It's terrific!)
OOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOO OOO OOO ooooo ooo OOOOOOOO OoooooooOoooOOOOOo OOOOOOOOOO
did I say it was a U2 song? no... it was a nice song to a nice band. you can read arcade fire there. pay attention next time
the concept of this youtube video makes as much sense as doing a johnny cash tribute to the sounds of black sabbath. what the hell. why not use a u2 track to go with your u2 slideshow?
did i say it was U2? you can read arcade fire there.
hm... ironically, it sounds like bono is singing it xD
Well done video though, nothing wrong with using a song not made by U2 to show love for them!
I think that's what it means. That you don't care about what others think... Good song though.
did I say it was U2? can't you read arcade fire there? it was just a nice song with pctures of a nice band.
Wow way to freak out there just calm the hell down
thanks
it's just a nice song you know... unfortunately there are people who don't understand that. they take it as if I did something against the law. :(
@hate2run well in the movie trailer
was this song in the movie where the wild things r?
um, good video, but soulda put Bloody Sunday up as the song
personally i think its funny if people think its U2,and thenget mad when they find out its not.lol
why make a video for one band with another band's music...?
is this supposed to be a joke? i mean this person spent tedious time finding pics for this vid (i assume looked up pics bout the actual song) and didn't come across that this totally isn't u2?
bloody amazing song tho, got hooked on it after i saw the trailer for wild things
and you couldn't read it was written arcade fire there right?
can't you read the arcade fire there? give me a break.
@bamf201 Eh... Critics, record sales, and ticket sales would like to have a word with you.
why have a tribute to u2 while playing a song by the arcade fire?
I would agree....but I wouldn't use the word "Wrong" that wouldn't make any sense lol...but peoples standards are extremely low these days XD
@619cujo Just sayin U2 will leave a bigger imprint on music when its all said and done. Arcade fire are good, but they sound way too much like Radiohead, which isnt necessarily bad; it just means that they arnt as original. U2 have largely impacted the sound of many Big name artists like Coldplay, John Mayer, and Muse.
a tribute to u2 using arcade fire?
This song is so amazing. And wtf U2??? Lol.
liquid poopy farts
is this U2 playing? or is this the arcade fire playing?
What a weird way to troll people.
i remember a chinede woman i was dating thought bono and robin williams were the same guy. but then again, she said all round eye look the same to her. funny woman.
hm, idk, it jus seemed weird that the vid was made like this, but salright, its your vid. and btw theres no need to insult, i get it, and u really shouldn't be taking it this seriously
What's wrong with pictures of U2?
but I wanted Arcade Fire - that reminds me Vertigo Tour opening while I was waiting for Bono to show up on stage in Brazil.. WHATS THE FUCKING PROBLEM?
it's only a tribute... I can use the song I want, I can put any pictures I want... it would be disrespectful if I start using pictures of your beloved mother
