Fun fact coming from someone that used to work for Hermès : the tag is the easiest way to check. It will ALWAYS be written the EXACT same things as shown on the video (english+french), only the colour can be different
The video is very interesting and informative albeit I knew most of the points...In addition to this, I have collected (at great expense) most of Hermès 's vintage (seasonal) catalogues to make sure that I am familiar with most of the designs / artwork. I have to say, however, regarding the point concerning the print frames the following: I have a genuine Hermès Carre 130 silk scarf (supremely rare size) Dame de Couer signed by Pierre Marie and the cards do not fully align with the frames. I wish we could attach the photos in this comments' section, it would be an interesting exchange...If anybody here worked for Hermès, I would be keen to hear about what happens to scarves with minor misprints, do they destroy them or some of them may pass through quality control screening? Is such a quality screening manual or automated ? What exactly the QC procedure? As I mentioned in another comment, I own 2 genuine older vintage Hermès scarves that have minor misprints (missing colour spot) and I am very interested in finding out what the quality control procedure was in the past and when it has changed ...
I’m so happy you had this video to help me out! I just thrifted a Hermes scarf from the goodwill bins and I’m so happy to say it’s authentic! And I only paid cents for it!!!
I also have one from a charity shop, my tag has been removed, but the rest seems to match up with her description, as soon as my cat gets off my lap, I'm going to weigh my scarf 😊.
Awesome video! I’ve never shopped for Hermes scarves, but I can certainly appreciate them. I immediately knew which zebra scarf was real and which was fake. The real one made me catch my breath at a glance! The fake looked like a cartoon. If you were wearing it, probably wouldn’t see, but to see the whole scarf, the real ones are amazing!
This is fantastic information for everyone, even though some may be familiar with the scarves. I had no idea the artists’ names were on the designs! The weave on my Chanel scarves are much smoother. Yes, the weight is also something that’s a great way to tell if the scarf is real.
I guessed right when she asked which was authentic - because of the way the scarf hung & the sheen. That minute, slight difference is something my eye picked up on. Reminded me of the lesson taught in the book “Blink”. Your brain sees the most teeny, tiny differences & it usually is correct.
Thank you for the information. In the early 80’s I received 2 vintage Hermès scarfs as a gift and I have often wondered about them. They are both stiffer like you say and I just checked the stitching and they both roll forward. I wonder how prevalent fakes were in the 70’s and early 80’s? My head is spinning and off to do research.
What I found out so far is one is La Promenade de Longchamps in navy by Philippe Ledoux (perhaps 1960’s) and the other is Harnais a L’Anglais in blue by Hugo Grygkar (perhaps 1950’s) I am definitely going to be doing more digging! Can you image if they were authentic?! 🤯
I do have an original. It has initials AM on it. I’ve put it away for many years. I got it for $1. lol. I’ve had it for 40 years! I’ve got to look up name again. Hunting scene. Brown one. Many blue for sale. The edges have been ruined a bit.
the rolled edges are definitely prettier on the real one🌈🤗 i guess it aught to be😂😂 i do love their beautiful patterns those are definitely my favorite things from hermès although i have no use for scarves but i wouldn't mind one framed on my wall🌈🤗
My scarf has a small black label that says Hermes Paris it seems to be chiffon, it has the rolled edge, looks authentic, it measures around 56x54 inches is very light, has a big beige/gold circle in the middle with another nine cycle in orange with a design, outer edge around the entire design is royal blue, the design is mostly flowers/leaves/plants and some exotic birds, the name Au coeur de la vie Anyone know what year this was please?
Hi I have a 2 genuine Hermès vintage scarves, they are signed by the artists, the labels consistent with the vintage period, hand rolled to the face print...but they miss colour in one spot of a print, it is just a missing colour and a spot looks like a background. Anybody seen such a misprint scarf? In the UK we have some misprint money, for example, they are very expensive
You gave us a lot of great tips. Thanks! Btw, Autumn...I can relate to another of your videos. I'm having problems finding a scarf style that suits me. Some knots make me feel like I'm wearing a bib! And I don't want to feel like I'm flying the friendly skies or attending a Girl Guide's meeting. I just can't find that perfect scarf style that would suit me. I've been wearing mine as belts lately! I love them but I'm thinking they might not be right for me.
I have a Hermes scarf. I have no idea if it’s fake or not. I am going to take what I learned and try to figure it out. If I can’t, do you know of an authentication service I can send it to?
Is it best practice to clean my Hermes scarf at home ?? Or should I just Dry clean it ? I find that some dry cleaning businesses don’t really “dry clean” they will charge you for dry cleaning but just throw your item in the washing machine and fuxk it up 😩🤷🏼♂️ then try to pretend that they did dry cleaning.
What about the really old ones? I think I have a really old one, I looked and they started making these in 1937, I don't think this one is that old, but it is old!! Hem hand stitched rolled forward, this one is only 3 colors.
What does The word “FAKE” entail of this video ?? Does this mean it’s not Real Silk or does it just mean it’s real silk but just not made by Hermes themselves.

I learned a lot about Hermes scarves and scarves in general. Thank you.

So useful, I’ve been thinking about Hermès scarf for a while now. Great to see your artist background come into play when explaining things
Great tutorial, thank you!

Great tutorial 👌
Hi Autumn, Great video! Did you figure out what the minimum weight should be for an authentic scarf?
Very Helpful Autumn 👍🏾
This was EXCELLENT 👏👏👏
Great information
How about Coach's Winter Scarfs..??
Just curious do you know if all designer scarfs roll the hem to the front!?
Love your tips and Hermes scarves are so beautiful ❤️☺️
Hi Autumn! Did you know the Coach Tabby Pillow Leather Shoulder Bag you mentioned you wanted in V5 Buttercup is on sale at NM for $237? 🙂👍🏼
Excellent. Thank you
Love this video! So much useful information. Autumn, have you seen the Coach collab with Tom Wesselmann? Wondering about you thought about it?
I have seen it. It's not for me.
Very interesting, good tips.
Wow the quality real comes thru in the Hermes pieces. Would love to see a how to video all about wearing your scarves and other ideas for them.

good evening autumn 🦋🖤🦋🦇

Hi, Autumn!

Wonderful
I picked the wrong one lol
So I weighed my scarf, 64 grams. Hand rolled towards the front. Heavy, tight weave to the silk. Hermès-Paris © . Name of scarf,Fleurs de Lotus. Colour way exists. It's from 1976, it's older than I am! The tag was removed, but it was positioned in the top left hand corner of the scarf. I forgot the rest of the tips to check ✅, but if it's a fake, it's a good one. I bought it years ago from a hospice charity shop.
Just found you! Care question: do you wash your silk scarves?
I haven't yet but I also don't wear them that often.
Excellent job! Jan from its-all-goode vintage-Hermes-scarf
What does The word “FAKE” entail of this video ??
Does this mean it’s not Real Silk or does it just mean it’s real silk but just not made by Hermes themselves.
Pretty sure she means counterfeit Hermes. I doubt there will be a 100% silk counterfeit Hermes scarf.
I guess the 30 € offer isn't the catch :/
You can see the twill of the authentic scarf. The real deal also falls a certain way.
❤️❤️❤️
