I think you technically don't even need to use grenades to do this glitch, the way it works is you are able to open doors while midair and in the process of going into the afterlife, so if you somehow got downed midair while opening a door, whether it's from being hit by a zombie or something else, it should work regardless. The only reason grenades are used though is because it's a lot more reliable to pull off than using something else, since the timer on the grenade is the same every time. Something I'm curious about though... there's an achievement called "Paranormal Progress", which requires you to open a door without spending points. I wonder if it specifically requires you to open up the door down to the laundry room or if opening a door like this would achieve the same thing. I think I'll actually test that by removing the achievement on steam and seeing if it'll unlock this way, I'll edit this comment if it works. Edit: I figured as much, the achievement does specifically require you to open the door that leads to the laundry room, or to the warden's office. Opening doors this way does not count towards the achievement.
Apparently if you spawn as a certain character, you can spam F (interact) and it’ll open the door while you’re still loading in, without having to use a grenade.

Free doors? That's gonna be fun to abuse. And I even thought it was going to be hard but it's so easy, like it's harder to f*ck up than to actually do it. I remember playing kino with my brother and he'd sit in spawn using the knife up until round 10ish with me to get the most points and then we'd dash straight to jug although I never was any good so I used the m14 to soften them up first and cause marsh is using the knife and m1911 for the first five or so minutes it just made me think back to when I couldn't get past round 7 in kino and not even knowing I had a knife to being the neighbour hood god at the map and showing off my high rounds with low quality pictures as well as playing with my older and younger brother

Another comment I have to add: Upgrading the Retriever to the Redeemer is not dependent on you spending a full round at the bridge. You need to get 30 kills with it past round 10 on the bridge without ever firing a shot from your guns or knifing, you can only use the Retriever. Once you get 30, you must go back to where the first dog area is, throw it into the lava pit just below it, and if you completed the previous steps correctly, it should make an afterlife noise and your Retriever should not return to you. Then you go grab it from where you got it originally, just in the afterlife. Do keep in mind that after throwing your Retriever into the lava pit, you need to wait until next round before attempting to collect your Redeemer I'm not sure if you figured this out at all in the video yet, I'm only about 18 minutes in, but I figured I would clear it up anyways
because there's a ton of confusion and conflicting information about upgrading, its safer to assume a full round or just till u hear the afterlife revival sound effect

Thank god you can still get hells retriever, you can upgrade it, get acid gat and pack that to get vitriolic withering and you can even get golden spork. Also question: can you use the grenade, jump, press activate button to use mystery box? Or does this just work for doors?
