Thanks a lot! Very clear and simple for someone not very familiar with laptop repairs. Helped me to fix my cooler fan! PS. Strangely after the assembly both ctrl and alt keys do not work, my blame is on the single contact in the keyboard connector.
this video is extremely useful, thank you so much! i need to change the charge port of my lenovo thinkpad T540p - would you say that one is close enough to the W540 that I could still figure it out based on your video? for context: i don't have much experience, only ever removed a hard drive or small things like that, but completely disassembled and reassembled a laptop before.
Sorry, I misread your comment earlier. It'll help, but you'll want to be careful while working on it. There are a lot of slight differences between models.
thank you for great and very detailed tutorials. i have saving plan to buy this laptop for studying 2d design, light rendering, and sometimes maybe try gaming like gta v etc.. and i hope this laptop can handle programs update at least for next 3 years. depend on my needs above, is this W540 is suitable for me? or i should look for another thinkpad type? and this will be my very first laptop i own 😄 thank you & sorry for my terrible english. 🙏
I'm so sorry about bumping an old video but what could I do if I have a pre-owned laptop like this and the fan desperately needs cleaned? Would it cause damage to remove the tape?
@ItsBinhRepaired Thank you! I tend to overworry/overthink, a fan playlist is very helpful. Just to ask beforehand in case it isn't covered in the playlist, the thermal paste is probably under parts of where the fan is connected to, right? If that's the case, is it recommended to get thermal paste before I disassemble the fan at all? This laptop has never been serviced before, I don't believe. 😅 That'll be my last question and then I'll be watching the playlist on my way to work in the morning!
This one was particularly tedious to disassemble. The screws on the keyb are (above-CAPSLock, above-F, above-J, above-:, above-Enter, above-6, below-G, below-H) You don't have to remove the CMOS bat.
did it work? I'm having an issue with my w540 that will charge only when its off or stanby and when its on it will be only on battery power and show the message 'Icorrect AC adpater is atached' when the AC is original for this model and with any othe AC compatible doesn't work.
I have a w541, put 32gb of ram in it but it windows 10 says there only 16gb. Cpu-z detects the whole 32gb though. Have you ever fzced this type of issue ?
@@ItsBinhRepaired done all of that... no change still. I have 64bit w10 pro but the machine originally came with w7. There are videos on yt showing how to increase ram limit by typing it a certain sub-panel, mine does not go above 16384Mb (1024"16)... I think the limitation is there but I don't know how to remove it.
9 months later and you just helped me replace my W540 cooler. Super thorough and well explained video, thank you so much!

Nope

Yup
Mine keeps saying "Incorrect AC adapter is attached" while it is it's Original One... Do you think this can fix mine as well ???
Might be the charger is bad or the charge port. Hopefully not motherboard.
@@ItsBinhRepaired I am sure it's not the charger, i already buyed 3 other ones, from 65, 175, and 230 watts none of them worked...

Can we take off a bottom cover without touching keyboard?
not sure, you can try.

Sounds like bad dc jack and/or possibly bad charger. Try changing them.
