      elainepapas Murray Melvin gave one of the best performances in Barry Lyndon (imo) and I was surprised to see he was already an established actor with films like ‘Taste of Honey’ (1961). In regards to Alan Cummings, I was surprised when finding out he’s NOT Pee-wee Herman, and secondly, that Scottish accent of his. So much British talent in Kubrick’s filmography.

      Some people believe Kubrick was assassinated because of Eyes Wide Shut being too close to Hollywood society.

    • @juxe411
      @juxe411 4 года назад +18

      the man was 68 - 70 years old whilst making the movie. The space between Kubricks penultimate film (Full Metal Jacket) and his last film (Eyes Wide Shut) was 12 years. Kubrick was known for taking his time with his movies. It was very likely that if he had not died Eyes Wide Shut still would’ve been his last film or at least his second to last film considering he really wanted to make A.I which then went on to Spielberg

    • @willscomix

    What people don't get is that Stanley was intentionally giving Alan an indirect compliment about his acting skills; the idea that if he compliments Alan indirectly it subconsciously validates Alans video performance while testing his ability to extrapolate on the absurdity of the compliment. What do I mean? There's a 0% chance Stanley didn't know Alan was Scottish after 7 or 8 tapes, and he wanted to see if Alan was aware of this clerical improbability. It was a test and compliment delivered in a clandestine fashion.

    The second memo about barometric pressure in London on a particular date is simply a man who has assistants doing a Google search in the era before the internet. Imagine how much time it would take to find that info in 1968, it would require a trip to the library. Kubrick knew he had better things to do with his time, but he still wanted the info. Hence he had an assistant to do it . He used the tools he had.

    They kept in touch afterwards? Kubrick and McDowel became very close and developed a strong friendship during A Clockwork Orange and after filming finished Kubrick never kept in contact again. I find it hard to believe especially since Kubrick died 3 days after handing in Eyes Wide Shut to the studio.

    • @massesesclaves644
      @massesesclaves644 8 лет назад +13

      +MIND WORM - Cumming said that he was friend with his nephew and Kubrick was a real family man. I might be talking out of my derriere, but I always felt McDowell was pretty immature in his early days as an actor, maybe it was nurturing a working relationship on the set, but nothing beyond that. Pure speculation of course.
      And by the way, you seem to forget that it took a year to edit the film. Shooting and editing are two separate things.

      @@OGRE_HATES_NERDS People just presume that by default because its Stanley Kubrick. Personally I think Gladiator is is a richer dramatic experience than Barry Lyndon. They are nearly comparable visually. Kubrick's movies are typically more cerebral, but they are not necessarily more satisfying - at least not initially - until one has viewed them several times over. The Shining is more of a psychological exercise, but its not that good of a story. It's my least favorite Kubrick movie, among the last 8. People talk so much about Kubrick movies because they are so enigmatic - they force the viewer to dig, since so much meaning is hidden in subtext. If cryptic means better, then I guess you are correct.

    This is a appropriation of somebody else's fiction I've never ridden fiction once I've tried writing a fiction at a camp and actually even wrote one and a half pages so that was really good that was really good I actually wrote something then I went to like five years later I went to high school and there was literature class and they were like maybe people should start writing I was like I'm not a writer I'm not gonna write anything I don't have any creative ideas so I didn't write any stupid fucked up stories in high school because no one would be interested in it and I know that I don't have a talent for writing fiction because if I would have to write something it would probably just be like a description of the music video that's I don't I'm not a creative person in that way and I don't know how to write it is so extremely sad that Stanley Cup Rick passed away this is all so horrible I've heard the real story a person probably an actor from the film was describing the story of the real facts about cobras life and it turned out that he was actually shocked murdered on the streets shot with a shotgun I think that seeing the current films such as hundred shades darker of gray or silver or wolf Dove or whatever color they think it is because it's probably Delta 💓✈️☁️😘 and his two are writing those descriptions it's not people who actually see colors the way they should be seen so even in those current films they should not let the Russian soft and delicate housekeepers have to do with aluminum weapons especially of such tiny caliber is it a small hummingbird of paradise i.e. Which way should win playing guitar on stage because it is connected to an Amplifier and there is movement on the stomach tickling and the feeling of sound which sound actually feel like not only inside of the years and through the years but also physically
