I cannot fully express my aggravation with RUclips in that this young lady has been posting excellent and insightful film reviews for 13 YEARS and today was the first time she ever appeared in my feed.
13 years? That's shameful, because I also just got the recommendation today. I watched and listened to her for 3 minutes, and saw she was intelligent, insightful and entertaining and subscribed

"No one wants to see an old character withering away"...you nailed it...which is precisely why a movie like Top Gun Maverick did so well. Because it was an old character who was still portrayed as great...but was starting to realize that his time was coming to an end and it was his job to now pass the torch to a younger generation with humbleness and dignity. And it also portrayed the younger generation respecting him and his accomplishments...and gracefully accepting the torch as it was passed to them.
I didn't see Top Gun Maverick, because I hated Top Gun; but let me make a comment here any way. You say Tom Cruise's character "was an old character who was still portrayed as great". I agree that in Top Gun he was portrayed as great. But I thought he was a macho a**hole. Same with the other characters in that film. I'd really like to see him withering away in Top Gun Maverick.
"she turned castration into a multi-million dollar industry". You are officially a legend. Brilliant summation LOL, that pretty much cut through the stupid ass bullshit like a hot knife through butter. I grew up with these great franchises and have watched Disney destroy them under Kennedy's watch, so thank you for making my day a little better.

I'm so glad this review is going viral to a degree. You have been the most honest, articulate and intelligent film critic on RUclips for years, imo. Congrats on the new subscribers, after a lot of solid years of work it is well earned!
Lets be honest. She turned a multi-billion dollar industry, into a multi-million dollar industry. Pretty much every one of these "social narrative" pieces turns into a huge flop... and yet they keep cranking them out as if they are dead-set on losing as much cash as possible. It makes you think that's the goal, and that maybe they are laundering cartel money or something.
I was twelve years old when “Raiders of the Lost Ark” came out. The film honestly changed my life. I think it changed a lot of lives. I still remember seeing it for the first time with my dad in a little theater in my hometown. The theater closed last year after 50 years. And yes, it is the best Indiana Jones film ….hands down. Don’t let anyone else say otherwise. I must now take this bitter pill and endure the final Indy installment. It’s not going to be easy or fun. I’m not in any particular hurry to see it. Indy as a sullen, ineffectual invalid…Indy in 1969 (my God, I was born in 1970). These films have come to mark time and history in a weird sort of way. I don’t like how they’ve seemingly strip mined these iconic brands. Yes, sucked them dry and left their carcass in the desert. It seems like they’re trying to make us feel guilty for ever loving Indy in the first place. I’m quite sure it will make me feel sad (not nostalgic)….and probably rather old. Yes, RIP Indiana Jones.
Yes this sentence hits hard... The theater closed last year after 50 years. There was an iconic theater I used to go with my father. I saw indiana jones there, predator, and terminator 2. I used to love to go to the theaters. It is sad our way of life is changing so much.
This channel just came up on my radar today. I’m sure it’s cause of the Indiana Jones 5 movie. I’ve been following it’s eventual disappointment since it’s inception. Anyway I love this channel already. The set up is so simple but the passion behind it is amazing. It’s just “hay! Grab a drink! Let’s sit down and talk about a movie!” The emotions shared here through analyzing movies is just that perfect middle ground between movie watcher and movie critic. I’m in. I’m subscribed. So much content to go back and watch.
I hope you asked for your money back. I have heard that if you leave a movie reasonably early, you can go to the box office, present your ticket and ask for your money back.
Last Crusade was my favorite. The dynamic between Sean Connery and Harrison Ford was pure gold. I'm not a fan of this franchise (didn't watch them back in the days) but that movie is the one I would watch again just for fun.
Maggie! This has to be one of your BEST reviews and I’d even go as far to say one of the great moments of film criticism on RUclips…and I just loved how she got more on fire with each shot of liquor 😂
It IS a brilliant comment, but like the person above me stated: I don’t know necessarily that it’s ACCURATE. I mean, sure, they’re STILL MAKING MONEY off these legacy film franchises so that’s PROBABLY all they REALLY CARE ABOUT but idk that it’s a direction people are happy or satisfied with. I would LOVE to be a “fly on the wall” within Disney/Lucasfilm and hear how some of the internal “unfiltered” conversations are coming across in regards to how these franchises have performed under Kathleen Kennedy’s leadership.
I am glad I didn't skip your video because I really enjoyed it! Even though I am a woman, I am feeling so overwhelmingly disgusted with my gender these days that I can barely stand watching them. You did not look like the new breed of women terrorizing not only men, but the whole damn planet, so I decided to give your video a shot. Your voice is low pitched, you talk in intelligent/complete sentences, your arguments are all based in logic rather than emotion, and you make good sense. You've restored some faith in my gender. Thank you :)
Hey, look. Dont hate on your gender. Im a man, and i too sometimes feel uncomfortable being asociated with some men, especially here on internet. But when i go outside i notice that people in general are all right, regardless of gender. Sure in last decades both have gone dowhill in various aspects, but honestly it aint that bad
@@rsmlinar1720 i think we are all annoyed the female gender is busy showing pics of their butts or breasts online, it's great when you find a channel like this one
I read a lot of bs on the internet but your comment takes the whole cake. Besides the abuse and violence towards women being insanely high in every single country, besides rape occuring in every single place every single day by men towards women, beside gender inequality being higher than anyone can comprehend, your comment proves that stupidity is very much not gendered. Women can partake in the patriarchy just as much as men.
Raiders = the best movie of the franchise. Temple of doom= ambitious but rushed. Last crusade= the most fun and heartfelt of the franchise. And nothing else matters.

This is the first video I've seen of yours. You are very talented at translating your thoughts and emotions into language we can all relate to. Great work!
They did NOT use CGI on Ford's face for de-aging. It was a different process using Lucasfilm's 45+ year catalogue of film footage of Ford's face. Complex and better than CGI in the results.
You know that there are dozens of movie channels out here that are not afraid of cutting through the bullshit? Saying that she took an interesting approach and It was a pleasure to follow what she had to say.
Temple of Doom had high flying adventures and the great relationship between shortround and indie. and featured harrison ford in his prime as an actor like harrison was in his prime in return of the jedi too.
I think andor manages to bring that dark rogue one energy..incidentally I think the most economically fine work of the franchise, which is fitting considering in linear form it is the first star wars story. Empire has some bloat but is empire nonetheless..
Andor is great... if you like shots of nothing but people walking from one place to another and nothing happening for the vast majority of the runtime.
Last Crusade has always been my favorite. Raiders may be “better” in some ways but I just connect with Crusade more. Love the relationship between Indy and his Dad, love how funny it is, the ending with the three trials is ridiculously inspiring…it’s easily my fav Indy movie.
Weird. Raiders is so much better in every way. May be my favorite action movie.Part 2 was great. Part 3 was just okay. Kind of hokey. But entertaining.
I'm with you @neonspec ! For me Indi ranks as 3 . 1 . 2 . 4 . 5 Cristal Skull is imho Spielberg's career worst movie Dial of Destiny is an abomination that should never have been made
As a lifelong fan of Indiana Jones 1-3, it was so refreshing to hear your take on things. I like to imagine if I were Harrison Ford, I would have refused to have ever even made a 4th or 5th after that perfect ending to The LAST Crusade. Breaks my heart to know Harrison Ford lent himself to something that sullies the legacy of something that helped make him the admired actor he is. Your exploration of corporate interests vs. what was once innocent movie magic making fun is always spot on in your videos and I always appreciate the plainly spoken facts that come from you. Keep up the good work! You are a true film critic!
Been ages since I've seen a new (to me) youtube reviewer who gives such considered criticism. I'll be subscribing and watching some of your earlier work!
Girl, what are you drinking? I need one too. As a child of the 80s I enjoyed your appreciation of the original three "Indy women" - each was unique and had her own irresistible chemistry with the hero.
Indy at 80 isn’t something I wanted to see. The shit Indy does in movies would hurt like hell for a 30 year old. Disney really trying to squeeze every last drop of blood out of this corpse before discarding. Good review!
This. 100% FACTS. I was 9 years old when "Raiders" came out. Even then, I was like "How is this dude not dying?" It was incredible stuntwork. I just turned FIFTY ONE, and they are trying to sell me Harrison still doing shit that woulda crippled Indy in 1981???? WHHYYY??? LET IT GO!!!
I saw it. I saw the movie's weakpoints, mainly being PWB's character and her writing. But I found enough gems in this film to thoroughly enjoy the ride. Harrison does an amazing job and I even felt that I could go and watch a detective style movie of Indy and Sallah in the New York of the 70's , without a lot of action. How short it was, I loved the scenes with Indy and Sallah together in the taxi and his appartement. I loved the treasure hunting and puzzlescenes more than the action sequences actually. It could have used more mystery and a supernatural feel. That would have helped. Anyway. I feel greatfull for having been alle to see Harrison wear the fedora and jacket once more. To me this was so satisfying, I could easily watch over the faults and flaws. Hell. Even Indy, sitting in a bar, lamenting his good old days for two hours straight would have been fine for me. Yes, I am, point in fact, such a huge fan.
Huge fan, and I disagree completely with her but that is okay. I love the film, not much I would change. PWB ended up redeeming herself for saving you know who...and Indy found himself. I see nothing of Disney' castration of men but that is just me.
Not sure why people have to go to extremes. Just because someone sucks at something doesn't mean they intend to. Why's it so hard to believe that she simply isn't a great movie producer?
Now THIS is how you do a movie review! That was amazing. Thoughtful, articulate, insightful, detailed, and sincere. Well done! You just earned a new subscriber 👍🏻
I found her review to be overly negative and her recommendation to not see it was not necessarily. I’m seeing a lot of people share that they enjoyed this movie. I’m one of them.
Nice to hear from someone who can see the political motivations behind bad filmmaking but articulates their opinion and doesnt just throw the word "woke" at everything. Subbed.
Awww another paid shill..are you a bot?🤣 I used woke appropriately and I'm very sorry I hurt you're feels JAMIEKELLY SNOWFLAKE KEYBOARD WARRIOR🤣 (we both know you have nothing else but to get paid to add comments.)
"Woke"s an okay word to use to describe it. It's quicker and easier than saying cultural-marxist-agenda every 5 minutes when describing modern Hollywood.
@todd3382, I have a hard time seeing it as a “woke” film though. It’s certainly not feminist in the slightest with the opposite of a strong female lead in Helena who is, by Indy’s own words in the film, a reckless and irresponsible mess with Daddy issues, and a damsel in distress for most of the film, constantly having her ass saved by Indy. And race wise, it comes off horribly not woke in the slightest with its only black character brutally killed by a Nazi with that Nazi practically gloating in her face as this black woman he killed dies. It couldn’t be further from being woke in my view. And to answer your question: yes, it now will be part of my annual watch of the series along with the trilogy. The plot is sorta nonsense, but Waller-Bridge and Ford’s chemistry makes the movie a e notable watch for me. Definitely not as good as the first three films, but still entertaining nonetheless. Also its final scene made me very happy as an Indiana Jones fan.
@@TheGeorgeD13I agree. All the discussion about how woke this film was going to be turned out to be complete bullshit. It's fine if people don't like the film, but it's not pushing an agenda.
Obviously, the opening sequence happened at night to help hide the de-aging process of Harrison Ford. Also, you could not simply recast someone in that role because Indiana was a 1944 adult. River Phoenix represented him as a teenager, thus allowing him to grow into the Harrison Ford adult.
Literally everything I felt about the film was in this review - most notably the idea that although everyone gets old, sometimes we don't want to see our heroes broken down and looking hopeless. We fell in love with Indy because he represented the complete opposite. Your Gene Kelly analogy was bang-on.
What made Marian such a badass was that she stood up to the Nazis *knowing* they would push her. There is a lot to be said for standing up to the storm.
I like Marion because she is a strong woman done right! She first debuts as a tomboy, tough talking, shot drinker (plus, she already had childhood relations with Indy me thinks). Yet throughout the film, we see her soft, feminine, and caring side. Indy even sees it when Marion is dressed in the red/white outfit, and then the white dress that totally gets ruined.
The vision of Indy riding off into the sunset with his friends at the end of The Last Crusade is what I keep close to my heart and will always be the the end of the Indiana Jones film series to me. In the same vein I see the heartfelt moments at the end of The Return of the Jedi as the end of the Star Wars film series.Others include the end of The Matrix Revolutions and The Return of the King and yes . . the ending of Alien 3. All perfect book ends to wonderful film series.
@@roseroselyne9045 No it wasn't. Return of the Jedi wad the end of the Skywalker Saga. The Prequels were shit but nowhere as horrible as Disney's woke garbage.
80k views! As someone who literally just started wathcing this channel a few days ago (Thanks YT algorithm 🙄😮💨) its awesome to see 1 of your videos get traction. Hopefully its to the moon from here! You have a great knowledge of films and a fun intelligent review style. You deserve success
I appreciate the review with actual thought and reasoning behind the negatives. The thing that people are missing about treating Indy bad is that it does change as the movie progresses and she begins to develops a connection with him and respect for him. She’s not just snarky to Indy in this film, but to everyone as that’s her character; Only out for herself, but like I said… she evolves. I have my arguments for most things people consider bad in this film but that would be further than the scope of what I wanted to say here. I will add that the old Harrison voice on younger Indy is a big, “ you couldn’t clean that up a bit?” And the fact that, and only god knows why, they didn’t dissolved the paramount logo into anything. Especially when the beginning is set at a castle they could have used. That being said, I absolutely loved the film and I’m an Indy die hard to the point of having multiple pieces of Indy wardrobe made by the original people and even was part of the groups that study the stuff on screen to be as accurate as possible.
I loved the first movie and to some extent, the second, because they felt like the pulp novels after which they were designed. Unfortunately, there's a problem inherent in those sorts of stories because so much of what happens involves an ultimately unbeatable hero who you know will win in the end. This means you either have to (a) give him ways to lose in secondary ways, (b) give him a stalemate that's a borderline victory, or (c) have characters that may or may not die in the end. Otherwise, the movies lose tension.
That's one thing I can say for Crystal Skull. I'm willing to see it if it's coming with something else I'm paying for (possibly even at a cheap price of it's own). Or if It's free to watch it.
I don’t know how this video randomly came into my feed, but I’m glad I clicked on it. So rare to hear a thoughtful, articulate and intelligent critique.
You have me cracking up with taking a shot right off the bat! I always love your honesty and expressions but you let it all out in this one😂😂 I'm gonna pour one out for Indy!
I have to say that this is one of the best movie reviews I've ever seen! I really appreciate the honest take on the problems and the few bright spots with this movie. I've heard others say not to see this movie but you're the first person I've seen tell us why we shouldn't see it. Thanks.
I’ve watched several reviews of this movie and this is the first one that felt like a really good date! Seriously though, this was a great critique made of good points backed up by valid reasons for the concerns many people have. Liked and subscribed!
Just found your channel. It's refreshing to find an articulate, intelligent point of view. Don't know if our opinions line up, but kudos for putting something together worth listening to either way.
In an interview back when LAST CRUSADE was released, Spielberg said in an interview: "We filmed the four heroes riding off into the sunset because this is the end of a trilogy, like RETURN OF THE JEDI was for STAR WARS (THAT comment would sadly age like milk). They ride off into the west like cowboys in a classic western. That's why it's called LAST CRUSADE, because this is it, Indy's last adventure." (IMO) that's where these movies ENDED! CRYSTAL SKULL & DIAL OF DESTINY are afterthoughts.
I found your video in my recommendations. Glad I did! Great and insightful review. I subscribed. Again, really enjoyed your review! I'm 52. I remember the summer when "Raiders" came out. All any of us could talk about was "Raiders" I was 10. There are no genuine blockbusters anymore. As you mentioned, we do all get older, back then there were one or two huge movies. Anyway, great video!!!
As someone in my mid-50s, I loved the scene of Indiana Jones sitting in front of the television asleep in his drawers. I immediately thought of my father and of that generation who went off to fight the Second World War, went on adventures and then return to live ordinary lives. And do ordinary things, like falling asleep in front of the TV. Was Indy being ushered into retirement to make way for Helena? Yes but that is exactly what life does when one gets old. You go from throwing the family parties one day to being the old person sitting on the couch with the young people swirling around you. I like that Hollywood allowed Harrison Ford to get old, unlike Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise. And I appreciated this movie.
I just found your channel and like your style of reviewing movies. Your expressiveness, eloquence, and humor are refreshing and beautiful to listen to---especially these days when so many creators fill their content with 'dumbspeak' and overuse of expletives. Subbed.
Indeed. Maggie is genuinely literate and can paint with words at a level that doesn't require the crutch of playing movie clips to express the ideas she wants to convey. It's like sitting down to have a conversation with someone who really cares about the subject and knows what they're talking about. Even if you don't agree with her assessment, you're probably going to learn something worthwhile.
@@bassage13Last Crusade is the best Indy film. It does everything Raiders does and surpasses it. More action, humor and it actually has heart and emotional stakes.
Just came across your channel and really enjoyed your version of a review. It’s like sitting around with a friend and just talking about what they thought about a movie. Look forward to perusing thru your past videos and future ones.
I always had high hopes for Mangold after Heavy. He delivered pretty well with Girl, Interrupted and the Stallone Oscar-worthy Copland, but after that, he just caved into the Hollywood whatever...I've been drinking, too. By the way, opening night sequences were best in old detective shows like Police Squad!😅
Fantastically indepth analysis that does give props to the few and far between positives while not angrily destroying the negatives. Well weighted critique
Thank you for this review! Totally agree that Crystal Skull did a backflip over the shark and the only reason you’d watch anything Disney-Lucasfilm related now is from sheer morbid curiosity. I honestly didn’t think it was possible to destroy the good will behind either SW, Marvel, and Indiana Jones. KK and Disney have masterfully done it to all three. It’s so bad, I’m actually impressed. But, yes, I’ll be sticking to the originals and the books. This new crap isn’t SW, Indiana Jones, or Marvel.
Wonderful review!! Your observations stone cold remind me of my years in film school at the University of Oregon and how myself and my classmates would meticulously and endlessly analyze/eviscerate cinema into the wee hours. Thanks a bunch for the great content. 😎
Appreciate her honesty on this channel... I get the feeling she is not like most movie reviewers who kiss but or try to spin things... And yes I feel the Indiana trilogy should've been left alone
I love Willie Scott. She's a "comedic character," which is not the same as "an attack on women," like a lot of people seem to think. Yeah, she's a spoiled narcissist, but her narcissism is so poetically and cleverly done. That scene where Indy brings her the fruit after that awful dinner scene is so great. The interaction between Dr. Jones and Willie is just poetry, followed by the fight, where Indy is being choked, and she's screaming from the other room "You'll always remember this as the night I slipped through your fingers!!" And Indy just reaches out with his hand, because there's nothing he could do at that moment. It's great.
Firstly, you are very easy on the eyes. Secondly, your general description of a Steven Spielberg ( Indiana Jones) movie was spot on. . . Especially the opening scenes. They are Classic Spielberg openings. But the way you described it was visualizing. I saw in my mind what you had described. Conveying thought from one person to another can be difficult, but you do it with ease. Bravo !
When J. R. R. Tolkien sold the movie rights for "Lord of the Rings," he did so forbidding Disney from ever being involved. He said, "As long as it was possible to veto anything from or influenced by the Disney studios..."
The YT algorithm brought your video to my attention and appreciate your review....you obviously put a lot of work into it. Also, couldn't but notice your copy of the Watchmen (there was time when I would tell people this is the one graphic novel you need to read if you read no other comic book). Glad you mentioned how the Raiders of the Lost Ark was inspired by the serials George Lucas and Spielberg grew up on. If I may be so pretentious as to add that there are subtexts to all the Indy films by Spielberg such as....Indiana Jone fears nothing as established by the famous opening sequence of Raiders except as we learn....snakes. So when he finally finds the Ark, it is of course in a pit of snakes. The subtext here is that you can never find or achieve that which you most desire until you conquer your greatest fears. I will let you discern what they are in the other films but a major component to storytelling is to have dynamic characters....characters who change and grow. The Helena character is not such a character. She, like Rey, never have to learn or change in any fundamental way....they are invincible and capable and just conquer all....and remain fundamentally flat characters. Such writing creates personnas that are difficult if not impossible to relate to. They have not flaws or need to develop. Luke Skywalker in the original trilogy may be blessed with the force, but he has to suffer, learn and grow. (Amazingly how Mark Hamill, in suffering a serious car collision which left facial scars was able to have this lend to his maturing in becoming a Jedi). By Katherine Kennedy's own account, Harrison Ford had real conflicts with how the Indiana Jones character was being portrayed in this film as he has stated how much he loved the character.
Wow I just came across your channel for the first time and your constructive criticism on the movie was incredible and entertaining. You just earned a subscriber. 👍

If you want a little of that old indiana jones magic you still have the bootleg. Alan Quartermain 1985 “King Solomens Mines” 1986 “ The Lost City of Gold”
I saw an interview with Gareth Edwards after Rogue One and he said he wouldn’t work on another Disney movie due to the constant interfering. I imagine James Mangold feels like this after seeing the poor reviews. They probably threw the best bits on the cutting-room floor!
Gareth was the only one who managed to make a good Star Wars movie despite being under the clutches of that craven witch Kathleen. He managed to create a strong female character who was flawed, had no secret powers, and relied a group of men to achieve her goal. He made me care about the fallen rebels. I can just imagine how hard KK tried to screw that up.
Thank you very much for another excellent review 🙏🏽 I think you are performing a valuable service of going to see modern films so that we don't have to - and then recording a review which is probably ten times better than the film that you are reviewing 😊 This film sounds as pathetic and 'on message' as most of the gumff that comes out of Hollywood these days, but your review is, as always, delightful and entertaining (in the way that films used to be 😮) 🙏🏽
The first three Indiana Jones movies are "only" entertainment, but they are art, because they make one forget about oneself, they make one wonder, laugh, and feel good. They make one feel great to be alive. As for this latest Kennedy catastrophe: no comment.
I could say The Last Crusade is the perfect Indy movie. It's the most mature of the 3 films, the tension between father and son works great and the story is more solid than the previous two. On the other hand, we are living in very psychotic times. Let's take this case, the one of a movie that is part of a bunch of films that marked an era. Who would have thought of taking the main character, an icon of the 80s and 90s that transcends time and borders, like Indiana Jones, and making a new movie, with his name on the cover, only to treat the main character like crap throughout the entire story, in an unnecessary and out-of-context manner? Making a movie for its fans who are now in their 30s or 40s, or even older, and for the new fans who are just discovering it, and spitting in their faces with this? It's not good for the art of cinema, nor for the story that is intended to be told, nor for the business. And yet, they don't go bankrupt, and people won't set the theaters on fire. These are very dark times we live in...
Agree, a Marion Ravenwood or Evelyn O'Connell (from the 1999 Mummy movie) style character would have been a better female lead to play off against Indy. Really that 1999 Mummy movie was the last Indianna Jones movie/spiritual successor (before they got a bit Hollywood goofy in the sequels).
So predictable from Disney. They did it with Han Solo too, and Luke Skywalker. Make them old grumpy losers and have a replacement outshine them. Except Disney forgets one thing, nobody likes those replacements... Lets just say that Indiana Jones is a very nice TRILOGY. Yes. And sometimes you find an expensive COASTER in the same box.
She’s literally the best in the game right now. Kermode and Mayo are great as well but there is no one who can analyze a film like her. It’s concise, honest and on point. Love her.

"She turned castration into a multi-million $ industry..." 😂😂😂
Phenomenal review, witty and intelligent - subbed!
I agree. Brilliant quote.
Absolutely stunning phrase!

Damn she went so hard 😂😂
Agreed. Temple Of Doom was also done well. The rest? Not so good...more like a money grab.
You can just pretend they never released the last two. Just think of it as a trilogy.
Yes this sentence hits hard... The theater closed last year after 50 years. There was an iconic theater I used to go with my father. I saw indiana jones there, predator, and terminator 2. I used to love to go to the theaters. It is sad our way of life is changing so much.
Why would you go to the theater? Pay to see this hit piece?
@@carbonara2144 I wouldn't pay to see this lol... but I did enjoy going to the movies when I was a kid, it was fun.

Just what is she drinking? I need some.

@@sayChristIsKingI wouldn't have left early, but it is definitely a bad film

I hope you asked for your money back. I have heard that if you leave a movie reasonably early, you can go to the box office, present your ticket and ask for your money back.
@@sayChristIsKingyes I haven’t heard one person that liked the movie yet
Last Crusade was my favorite. The dynamic between Sean Connery and Harrison Ford was pure gold. I'm not a fan of this franchise (didn't watch them back in the days) but that movie is the one I would watch again just for fun.
I second that !
The Connery-Ford back and forth is the peak of the franchise
"Nobody wants to see Gene Kelly on crutches" is a great phrase.

Night scenes make it easier to hide bad CGI.
I thought they spent trillions on production.🤣
Just like when Scholar Visari gave his speech
I bit yes... but motion blur is better to hide bad CG!
They also help make good cgi look better
They did NOT use CGI on Ford's face for de-aging. It was a different process using Lucasfilm's 45+ year catalogue of film footage of Ford's face. Complex and better than CGI in the results.

Nailed it on the head with regards to Kathleen Kennedy. I don't know HOW Andor got made under her watch, but it's literally a miracle. A MIRACLE
I can’t believe Andor slipped through her grasp. We got lucky with that one. Gave me some hope!
You mean the one about a bunch of men being tortured? I jest, but I can see the pitch being spun that way.

He did it to the Han Solo character too in Disney Star Wars, I used to like him but now just see him as another sell out.
Agree. Never ever ever. You couldn't force me on pain of death.
What’s funny is that Harrison Ford squeezed all he can from Disney! That’s the irony. Lol
😂😂😂
Thirty is not old, their are athletes who compete well into their forties. I'm pretty spry myself as a fifty year old.
Dial was hot flaming garbage
Kathleen Kennedy seems intent on destroying the cinematic legacy of George Lucas. First Star Wars, and now Indiana Jones.
Don't forget Willow, that series isn't even available anymore on D+ That's how bad is was. :(
The theory is she built up so much rage from her days of fetching coffee for Lucas and Spielberg..... now this is her revenge.
hahahahahaha
This is HER time to make creative assertions, you see, stamp her feminist brand on it.
@todd3382,
I have a hard time seeing it as a “woke” film though.
@@todd3382 I thought it was alright.
Wasn't it Fred Astaire?

I think it’s quite refreshing to see a ‘superhero’ as a human with flaws.
"Gene Kelly on crutches", what a great line. I think this applies to modern Disney as a whole.
Thank you for such a knowledgeable, insightful review. The quality of your film reviews deserve a much wider audience

The reason movies use night scenes is it's easier to hide bad CG artifacts. That's why the infamous GoT Winterfell battle episode was so dark.
Smart review - and you're so right about the Map Room scene. It's one of the most thrilling and magical scenes in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
"They're digging in the wrong place!! hahaaaa!!"
Indiana Jones was a big part of my childhood. I love the first three. I have ZERO interest in ever seeing this mess. Not even for free.

Just found your channel. It's refreshing to find an articulate, intelligent point of view. Don't know if our opinions line up, but kudos for putting something together worth listening to either way.
In an interview back when LAST CRUSADE was released, Spielberg said in an interview:
"We filmed the four heroes riding off into the sunset because this is the end of a trilogy, like RETURN OF THE JEDI was for STAR WARS (THAT comment would sadly age like milk). They ride off into the west like cowboys in a classic western. That's why it's called LAST CRUSADE, because this is it, Indy's last adventure."
(IMO) that's where these movies ENDED! CRYSTAL SKULL & DIAL OF DESTINY are afterthoughts.

It's great.
I've just fallen in love! And what a well put together review. I probably will watch the film, but only once it's available to stream.
Bravo !
Well ... Phoebe Waller-Bridge helped kill James Bond. Guess Indiana Jones was the next Icon in her sights.

When J. R.

"Kathleen Kennedy turned castration into a multi-million dollar industry" had me reeling!
The Horror!
When you have to start a review with a couple of stiff drinks that says it all. Nicely done and done with style.
Love her.
As a massive Raiders fan, I'm so happy I saw this review. Now I don't have to watch the new movie and have my heart broken.
You never had to.
Stop being a sheep and think for yourself.
I may not as deeply passionate about movies, but for years I have been looking for a woman who can engage in compelling thoughtful conversation.
Seven years of higher education I am surrounded by persons I cannot relate to, whatsoever. You are awesome.
...20 seconds in and am already more entertained than the entirety of Dial of Destiny.
Intelligent and thoughtful reviews. Makes Grace Randolph look like an amateurish beginner. Subbed :)
