To all of the younger people who haven't started the college path yet to become an RN, I'm currently finishing prerequisites and awaiting approval or denial into the BSN program at my college, and would like to wish ya'll luck, it's going to be tough and takes a lot of hard work.
Hunter of Hunters yea those prerequisites classes last like a year or something. My wife finishes that and a year ago and will finish the nursing program in the middle of 2020. That whole program is not a joke! Lots and lots and lots of studying, lots of tests, lots of volunteering and lots of stress. It gets easier as you get closer.

How was it?
I’m doing BSN now. My advice is start studying for your prerequisites first! Also familiarize yourself with the fundamentals of nursing. Good luck!

I want to do the BSN Program ..I'm 19 and just got my diploma, my family doesn't think i can do it since I come from a family of proverty ...I feel very discouraged

I recommend the adn route then it is faster and may be cheaper though it is intense. I also come from a very poor family and I am in my last quarter of nursing school.

I am 17 years old, I graduated high school when i was 15. I finished my pre requisite classes for college and am going to take the HESI Nursing exam in a couple of weeks. Wish me luck. After the exam, i will enter the nursing's program and study for 2.5 years and graduate from the program and hopefully work at clinicals and hospitals and be an RN? Wish me luck people

Granddaughter went the ABSN route. She will graduate from a year long course on Dec 18, 2020. Already hired at Houston Methodist for residency program.
Budding nursing students should always seek a BSN path. There are exceptions when some cannot attend a 4-year degree. Many hospitals require a BSN or will only hire you if you are enrolled in an ADN to BSN program. Many bedside nurses have a master's degree as well (MSN). Nurse struggle for full acceptance as professionals among the other professional they work with. Many team members have doctorates (physicians, nurse practitioners, pharmacists) and minimally a master's (social workers, nurse anesthetists, case managers, and even physician therapists). Even with a BSN, many nurses struggle to be recognized for the impact, importance, and essential role they play. To be a nursing professor, most school seek doctorate-prepared nurses. I just got my PhD and could not be any happier and more proud. Education is a life-long journey. Set you sights high.

When I become a registered nurse, I want to get into critical care nursing such as internal medicine where physicians get into. Emergency medicine seems to be my passion.

OMG! we're the same, I'm also 15. I will be in 10th grade this june. I really want to become a nurse since I was a kid. I've been researching a lot about nursing and talking to registered nurses and student nurse what it feels like to be a nurse.
You're making it harder than what it should be if you still don't have it figured out. I'm a year behind I know, get a nursing degree, take the NCLEX state exam. Boom, you got it.

ADN takes longer then 2 years. You have two years of classes then two of clinicals. Even going as fast as humanly possible it’s like 3 years
