Hello, I just wanted to say I love this channel and find your videos really well done! They have helped me tremendously!
I have a question around 7:02 with "negli Stati Uniti". I have searched all over online in various forums and websites and couldn't find anything
I have learned that "Nei" is used in the same cases as “in” when the noun which follows is masculine plural and starts with a consonant
I have learned that "Negli" is used in the same cases as “in” when the noun which follows is masculine plural and starts with a vowel
So why is it "Negli Stati Uniti" when S isn't a vowel, by this logic shouldn't it be "nei Stati Uniti"?
Thank you! Would love some clarification on this as it is racking my brain

Ciao Bruno! Sorry for such a late reply but I just found your comment (for some reason it was in the spam section). In this case you will need to use NEGLI because STATI UNITI needs the article GLI. GLI STATI UNITI. The rule that you are looking at is the rule of the articles. Since Stati Uniti begins with an S and it's plural the article that will go before it is GLI (gli Stati Uniti). When you are using the articulated prepositions you will need to match the simple preposition with the article. In this case IN + GLI = NEGLI. I suggest that you focus on the article that you need first and then match the simple preposition. I will link here below some useful videos that can help you out with this:
      - articles: ruclips.net/video/OMOMXzKZTmc/видео.html
      - articulated prepositions: ruclips.net/video/aynoOJ097mw/видео.html
let me know if you need further help! ciao!
