During the relay dance they were just trolling so hard. There are parts where someone randomly dances Maniac, God's Menu or Backdoor. The moment when they laughed so much is cause Han confidently went front while doing Backdoor choreo 😂
This just makes us more excited to finally get to their relay dances for their other songs as well. I can imagine the chaos already 😂

Seungmin wrote Novel ages ago and always planned for it to be just a solo song. It must have been fun for him to include the other 8 boys in it! I love the vocals we got from Changbin and Felix!
Editing to respond to your comment about Chan's tour outfit. He actually had a belt he wore with it! It wrapped right below where the red cuts off on his tummy. It definitely tied the outfit together better! I wish I could share pictures because I have MANY from when I saw them in Newark! At some point, the belt either broke or he was just like, "screw it" and stopped wearing it. Maybe it was uncomfortable on his sweaty bare skin? I gotta imagine it chaffed a bit!
I need to see choreo for DLMLU so badly. If it's anything like taste then 💀🤣

I love the First Take version of "Scars" too. If you haven't seen it, do yourself a favor and watch it. The vocals get to stand out so much more. I love the mv versions of the songs on the First Take, but something about their First Take versions hit different.

Btw Hyunjin wrote and composed DLMLU he seriously is the best at writing these kinds of songs (he also wrote red lights and taste)
And Chan and versachoi (producer they often work with) are the arrangers for all these three songs, they make really a good team

Aaaa~ yes the vocals in this album are something else! The energy behind ‘The Sound’ and ‘Battleground’ are epic!! Also Changbin’s (lead along with Chan) songs here ‘Lost Me’ and ‘There” are some of my favorite songs that he’s done. Oh and they work with KM-MARKIT a lot for their Japanese songs, he works on translating the lyrics. He’s spoken about his experience of working with them before and trying his best to capture the nuances of the lyrics the kids write. 😊
I love that they are beginning to do OT8 of some of the other members' songs instead of letting those members do a solo number like in the past. Seriously, Hyunjin has become one of my favorite lyricists. That he can become so good at everything he sets his mind to! He truly is a genius.

I like both! Love the OT8 versions of songs along with the solos we've heard. I think it's great that they're able to change their own songs around to include their other members 🥰.

For so many years in K-POP and what kind of handsome men I haven't seen, but Seungmin I can't even describe in words just unrealistically beautiful perfect cheekbones, plump lips, charming cheeks, sparkling eyes and the most beautiful smile in the world-the combination
of sexuality and cuteness gives a killer effect.
I think the hyunjin song style like taste, red lights and DLMLU is so beautiful and poetic using like flowers to truly express like he's use of metaphors is just cool and creative it also fits danceracha vibes imo

This album is so good. Seems like Hyunie likes this kind of “sexy toxic relationships” vibes in his songs( and I’m here for it). I’m so proud of Hyunjin and Seungmin. And yes, there will be The First Take for something from this album I’m so excited!

I think “lost me” is about wanting to be good enough for everyone or just one person to love you and in the process you start to lose yourself while striving for others love. Idk I’m pretty sure the members talked about something similar, but i could be wrong. 🤷♀️ anyways its a beautiful song either way!! And thanks for the reaction😊

I hope for Scars you also watch The First Take version as well as the performance video as the choreo is stunning. Also, for the MV for Scars, it worked out that they were all sporting scars, bandages - as you noticed Han was wearing an eyepatch - this was during the time he had a stye on his eye, so even in shots where he wasn't wearing the eyepatch, he had a bucket hat that covered his eyes, or hair covering the eye that the stye was on - very creative MV shooting to not show it.

It was brought up that "there" mightve been dedicated to a Japanese Stay by the name of Hiwa who despite getting treatment to be able to get better and attend a concert, unfortunately passed away before being able to attend. I recommend looking into her story as heartbreaking as it is. Though this has been in no way confirmed, after rereading the lyrics with this interpretation of the song, it feels all the more special, meaningful, and personal. It would also account for there actually being gendered lyrics as the vast majority of skz songs are left gender neutral to allow anyone to interpret them in the way that means the most for them.
We've seen clips from a concert where they talked about this so we know a little about it. That's absolutely heartbreaking. If the lyrics are inspired by her then you're right that adds a whole different layer to the song ❤

Translation note for "Lost Me" Hyunjin's line at 0.14 in the song, 【押し殺せた本音 気持ちは傷だらけ】is translated as "hiding my real thoughts, My heart is filled with hurt" but a more correct translation would be "My true thoughts suppressed and killed. My feelings covered in scars". Saying real thoughts isn't really wrong either though. the japanese word used there, 本音 = honne, can be translated as "(my/your/their) true/real feelings/thoughts/" or simply as "(my/your/their) truth". The second kanji (音) means sound when used alone.
Felt compelled to write since in the translation he 'just' hides his thoughts when the actual lyrics say he's suppressing and killing them off... hits a bit harder.
Sorry for the long comment, I tend to overexplain due to overthinking.

their relay dances are all so silly!! my favourite one to this day is definitely their "top" relay dance but honestly all of them are just pure serotonin !!

I really love how you both take the time to understand the intentions of their lyrics. The TMI for Scars is that Chan began writing it in 2019 while waiting backstage during an awards show. The tail end of 2019 was a rough time for them so the lyrics really hit hard for me in this song.

Thank you again for a great reaction&analysis video! I feel that I get even more out of Skz songs/MVs through your insightful analyses. I absolutely love this album, theres songs that go hard, songs that are beautiful and songs that just really are emotionally impacful.
About that ear-thing, I was just reminded of this funny line from a show called Black Books, "I'm a giant ear waiting for your songs of niceness" 😀
The tattoo thing: I have an appointment with a tattoo artist in few weeks, I'm getting my first tattoo. The Skz song that really hit home for me was Streetlight. It is so relatable to me and put into words some thoughts and emotions I had not been able to. So the tattoo is about that, with a double meaning of Skz being a light in my life (did I go too sappy... 😀).
I'm still sometimes trying to find all the tiny references to past choreos in the Sound MV (referring to my comments in that reaction video). It is just so fun for me, and nice "excuse" to watch through all their MVs and dance practices. Not that excuse is needed, they are so much fun to watch. The relay dance having those moments of other choreos (even if just goofing around) makes me think I might be on the right track (I have doubted it sometimes, not that it matters if I am wrong, I still enjoy trying to find them, as I said). I think I might have found one or two refs more, but I'll probably comment on my original comment after I possibly find few more. Still hoping that someone will find the ones I haven't been able to/correct me on the ones I'm wrong on 😊

This was such a good album! My fav songs(besides Scars that’s been a fav) are DLMLU and Battleground. I love The Sound and Novel as well. I always love Hyunjini’s music. He’s so talented. Scars is just a beautiful freaking song and MV period. I was so excited you did a reaction to the new album, The Sound. I agree 100% every song is incredible and different with its own color. The vocal gymnastics they do is mind-blowing. DLMLU has a very similar vibe to Taste, which makes sense since Hyunjin wrote it and helped compose it. Scars is one of my all-time favs. The lyrics and vocals are so beautiful. They did a First Take video that is so good, and they are coming out with a First Take for Case 143 on Friday. I would love to see you do a reaction vid on the First Takes. They also do a First Take for Mix Tape OH, which i loved your last reaction to. It's such a pretty song with a chill vibe. Fun Fact- SKZ is one of the few non-japanese musicians that has multiple First Take vids. "There" is so gorgeous, and my heart flutters every time I listen to it. I also hope there is an MV. From the teaser, it looks like a continuation to "Your Eyes," which is another Japanese release on the album Circus. Again, such a fun reaction. I was laughing, crying, along with you guys. "Scars" is in my top 3 songs. I can't explain how much I love that song, the MV, the dance video (oh you need to watch that performance video) and how much it makes me emotional everytime I heart it xDDDD
The Sound not just surpassed my expetations but even surpised me so much. "Battle Ground"???? Where can I sign to have more skz rock content pls? The amount of Changbin vocals we got and Seungmin heavenly voice, in love. "Novel"!! Ugh, Seungmin is my bias wrecker and lately I've been so into his songs (solos and covers), and to have another song by him was just a blessing 🙏 The whole album sounds so japanese, so skz and refreshing. In relay dance they are always so unserious and chaotic ! They always hype each other so much !

I feel like this song is closer to heavy metal rather than rock, and it's a first time ! They have multiple songs that are rock based but never that hard ! And actually it goes way less hard than I thought !

I don't know if I already mentionned it but some people think that this song might have been written for Hiwa. There are multiple lyrics that can point to that or at least to someone dead. Like the fact that they are always mentionning stars. Or even the bridge part because in the korean and japanese culture there's a bridge that links to the other world. And the fact that it's a japanese song really helps to think that.
When I saw the teaser for There my first thought was that it was gonna be a Your eyes MV 2.0. But since you don't know Your eyes MV yet yes it's a POV thing 😂.

As always their intro are on point ! And the transition between chorus and verse/bridge are also so good !

Yeah the way the japanese come back are is so weird. But the sound was less weirder than Circus ! Like for Circus the japanese version of Maniac was released two months before. Then the MV of Circus was the same day as Yet to come and it was like 2 weeks before the album. Then the MV of Your eyes was released and then the album was released !

Scars= You mentioned tattoo and the first thing that came to mind was ";" (already known now as the symbol of continuing our story-life-just when we thought we'd give it up or end it like a period) this has had a lot of artistic renditions.
