Hey all, I'm glad some folks are finding this bonus vid interesting and/or informative! One thing that a few folks seem to be confused about - this is the actual live recording of me giving this speech to the Atlanta Writer's Club via the video conferencing platform they used in lieu of meeting in person (because Covid). That's why the video and audio quality are a little lower, why it glitches out occasionally, etc. It's not something I sat down and recorded for the channel - it's the live speech that I read off my screen to an audience of people watching in real time over Zoom or whatever we used. Anyway, thanks for your interest, and thanks to the Atlanta Writers' Club for having me!
Just a quick thing adam, RUclips suppresses covid storiesnon their platform . So maybe that's why the views dont match more "click baity" titled videos more than the lack of click bait
@@heypeopleitsmatt Nah, it did as well as I would have expected given the topic and the headline. RUclips did some initial blanket suppression of Covid content but then they pretty quickly got more granular about it.

This was a super interesting watch. I learned about the curiosity gap and different types of leads in high school, but your approach being about serving people first and using whatever technique will best inform them as soon as possible is refreshing. Obviously you're far from the only journalist who tries to be ethical in this regard, but the amount of clickbait headlines and articles full of filler and where the curiosity from the headline is never satisfied is astounding (as seen on r/savedyouaclick). And the same happens on RUclips.
Adam, these are such great insights. As a digital educator, I will be applying these concepts for sure! I also find it hilarious that this video itself is an example of your “authenticity is the new authority” slogan.
I am currently trying your New York style pizza recipe. I know that you said the cheese sticks were the only good low-moisture whole milk mozzarella you could find in your area. I actually found the same Galbani cheese sticks that you used to use. I was also able to find a 16 oz cylinder of Galbani Whole Milk Low Moisture Mozzarella at my local Fredmeyer next to the fresh mozzarella, by the ravioli and tortellini. nottheguru When did people (Jake Tapper in particular) start spelling it “the lede?” I do not get it. You’re not saving typing, such as the stupid “2” for “to” or “u” for ”you,” so what is the reason? It’s so dumb. (Not aimed at you, nottheguru, just ranting to no one specific.)

The big difference is that scientific articles have huge swaths of content in them that is meant to be skipped. They are only included on the off chance that somebody may want to use them as a reference when critiquing your paper.
This video is an EXCELLENT description of how you should do edutainment on RUclips. And it really got me thinking.
nottheguru When did people (Jake Tapper in particular) start spelling it “the lede?” I do not get it. You’re not saving typing, such as the stupid “2” for “to” or “u” for ”you,” so what is the reason? It’s so dumb. (Not aimed at you, nottheguru, just ranting to no one specific.)
16:50 "Authenticity is the new authority" great insight
I’m a journalism student at Ithaca College and this video really is a huge help for a couple creative thoughts I have. I would love to have Prof Ragusea one day.
Adam: While I appreciate the brevity that's often seen in your videos, sometimes I feel a little disgruntled that they end so quickly. Your "Leave 'em wanting more!" game is top shelf. :)
Low-key one of Adams best vids.
This was really interesting and insightful, Adam! Thank you for sharing this with us here!
Adam, you cooking videos are great, but this one is absolutely awesome. I didn’t know that I would enjoy this content so much! Thanks for sharing this - you’re awesome!
@Adam Ragusea after watching this a second time to excerpt and distill everything down, I really think you should have titled it "I wrote a Speech for Atlanta Writers Club' and then this happened" ;)
I definitely appreciate the no-BS openings. I am so tired of car repair videos that have at least 20 seconds of animation, race car sound effects, catchphrases, etc. before I can figure out if the video is likely to answer the question I have about my car.
This video earned him a like, subscription, and a bell smash, as well as my respect.
This is a gem..
It's a shame for the quality it's only get this much views.. (76K for now, when I wrote this comment)
This is sooo interesting. Adam you're such an intelligent and complex person. I truly wish you the best.
This is a great video all your videos are! I’ve been subbed to you for years many times used your recipes for ideas. Well I finally decided to make my own channel was laid off and I thought hey pass the time! I’ll never be as good as you but you’ve thought me a lot!
*damn cr1tikal and adam lining up their schedules for me ?!*
What a crossover of genres
I'm starting to think everybody watches all the same RUclips channels.
What, how, why?
Very informative sir. Thank you for sharing this. We hope to see more videos like this😁
I watched every single one of Adam's videos and somehow I missed this one
Fantastic, very insightful and helpful for my own youtube career. Thank you!
Thanks, Adam, this was one of the most helpful and motivating videos I saw on "how to" a youtube channel, you deserve all the attention you have and more, truly
