I figured people would be mentioning that flashlights with high outputs and then stepping down after several seconds or minutes is very common in modern flashlights. They can't handle the heat for long periods of time so it's a safety feature.
@@joshbutcher8501 Yep. He messes up a lot things on purpose to get more comments cause comments matter for the youtube algorithm. 14:05 Most flashlights with some kind of TURBO mode has either a limited time or active cooling. The more powerful the LED, the more heat it generates. Without proper cooling, the excessive heat can damage internal components, reduce the lifespan of the LED, and even cause the flashlight’s body to become too hot to hold. For example, Fenix LR80R or Manker MK38. These flashlights are used in search and rescue, extreme outdoor or any situation where intense, long-range lighting is required. And can cost more than ten times that Bucees flashlight. Flashlight on the video has a turbo only for two purposes, to brag and squeeze a little bit more money🤣

Love this video! The Buc-ee's stuff is so unique and interesting. I had no idea they sold a wearable blanket or a hammer multi-tool with bolt cutters. Can't wait for more videos like this, keep it up!
28:09 COB stands for "Chip On Board". I was going to type out what that means but I think a copy/paste is easier. "It describes the technology behind the COB lights, referring to the packed LED chips mounted in direct contact with silicon carbide or sapphire substrate. The COB technology provides a high density of LEDs on a small surface (e.g., there are 342 LEDs on a 10mm x 10mm surface)."
Tyler, it's 40 seconds of burst 8000 lumens. 8000 lumens is a lot of power. And a lot of power generates a lot of heat. Try imagining holding a hair iron in your hand. That's why flashlights that have above 5000 thousand lumens that don't have it a burst time setting have a heat sink attached to it.
This might be your best work yet, Tyler. It's got everything: Infuriating mispronunciations to drive engagement, trendy products with a cult following, a doggo, outdoors products, etc. I genuinely enjoy your videos, and you're one of the few that can make (sometimes major) changes but maintain yourself. Thanks for being you.
The battery light switches are quite handy for industrial electrical cabinets. They'll stick to anywhere in the cabinets for those hard to see terminals, and since they are so inexpensive, if you forget one in a panel it's not a big loss vs. your good flashlight. As a bonus the batteries are replaceable so if you find one in a cabinet it's not necessary trash because of a dead lithium battery.
19:46 The LED and the battery will over heat if used on turbo mode for too long. It’s a safety feature. Some underwater diving flashlights actually warn you to NOT use it unless you are under water to keep it cool. You run the risk of the flashlight over heating, blowing up or catching fire. Coast actually makes very nice flashlights, that are the more intuitive ones on the market.
From what I understand, the 40 second limit on turbo mode is due to heat. To protect the not so smart consumer from leaving it on turbo, and lighting a fire.
That's part of it. That flashlight would literally destroy itself with the heat, if it was allowed to stay on for very long. Active cooled flashlights are a LOT more expensive.
The flashlight limits the amount of time you can run in turbo mode because LEDs running at that much power get hot quickly, as do the components that supply them. Limiting how long it stays in that mode is a way to help keep it from overheating or getting hot enough to be uncomfortable or even dangerous to hold. Also, battery life would probably suck. Oh and COB, when you're talking about LEDs (or electronics in general, actually), stands for Chip On Board. Basically, they glued a bunch of LED chips directly to a PCB, put very fine wires from the chips to traces on the PCB to make connection to them, and stuck some goop (transparent in the case of LEDs) over it to protect the chips.
Hey I love ALL your videos----just figured out how to add comments. Please do more videos of you doing upgrades to your new pickup! Loved seeing you change out the tail lights on the new truck
14:16 nebo tells you that turbo mode only lasts until the LED overheats. Led dim over time as they get hot anyway. 1100 lmn ends up being 700-800 after just a few minutes in mid 60° temperature.

OMG That corn thing's like adults only lol.
For the flashlight, when they have a turbo function like that, they usually lock it to a short amount of time because it overheats the LEDs.
Question on the flash light. How accurate was the "time remaining" for each of the settings? Did they actually last the full amount of time or close?
