This is the Glenrock Parade level crossing at Koolewong NSW. It is located north of Woy Woy, on the main line between Sydney and Newcastle. These signals were installed on December 11, 1980, while the crossing received an LED upgrade and the top lights were added around 2002/03.
Both signals have unmarked bases, Federal Signal Corporation gate mechanisms, Alstom LED lights and Western Cullen Hayes electronic bells. The bell on the western signal rings only until the gates have lowered, while the eastern bell rings continuously until the gates rise.
The pedestrian crossing has Magnetic Autocontrol swing gates, Aldridge 'Don't Walk" lights and Klaxon sounders.
    Train information:
5th train: NT33 XPT service from Sydney to Casino.
Last train: IH91 empty coal from Newcastle to Port Kembla Inner Harbour, with locomotives 8201, 8203, 8243 and 8256.
    Filmed on December 16, 2017.

Its amazing that the fedral signals gate mechs have survived this long. Those pedestrian alarms are low. Intersting that they put the new stop on red signal signs on top of the old ones. This crossing is the only crossing left on the central coast Newcastle line that has at least one bell programed to sound until the gates rise.

Considering that all of the other gated crossings on the central coast got completely new signals, it is amazing that these ones have lasted. I suspect that they will replace these signals sooner or later (hopefully later). Sydney Trains usually remove all of the old SORS signs before fitting new ones, must have done these ones on a Friday afternoon lol.

After the crossings at Adelaide St, Blayney and Army Camp Rd in Singleton were upgraded, this is the last Crossing in NSW, and probably Australia to have Fed Signal gates.

Great video! Love that they retained the Federal Signal gate mechanisms! The alarms on the crossing sure are hard to hear!

Thanks! The pedestrian alarms have the volume set very low for some reason, seems a bit pointless considering the WCH e-bells are plenty loud enough!
The other crossings between Sydney and Newcastle (Woy Woy, Warnervale, Adamstown and Hamilton) all received new WCH gate mechs during the mid 2000's, so it's amazing that these FS mechs survived!

Not exactly sure, I think it may have been around the mid 2000's.

The twin WCH e-bells on the Sydney suburban netowrk remind me of the Japanese Railroad crossings, which get quieter after all the geates have lowered!
9:08 those pedestrian alarms are hard to hear over the e bells! So what's the point for keeping alarms?
17:14 nice to see an 8200 class in the newer livery!
I'm glad you're back in the Sydney suburban area!

I'm not sure why the volume on the pedestrian alarms is set so low. The 82 class engines are gradually being repainted, will probably take another year or two to finish them all. There are some nice crossings around Sydney, but I hate the traffic and congestion lol.

Looks strange to see a Federal Signals gate mech with Harmon counterweight arms, maybe painting them would make them blend in better.
I'm guessing the original m-bells were Federal Signals.

I remember seeing the crossing before it was upgraded and the top lights were added, the m-bells were painted black and I presumed they were WCH. Didn't know about Federal Signals back then so I never gave them a closer look, also thought the gate mechs were just the usual WCH ones!
