You have inspired me to continue to learn more about nails! I haven't painted my nails in awhile because I had to give my nails a break because they were thinning out on me! I agree that a TV is a good idea. I'm personally the type of client who doesn't like to chat. It's nothing about the technician, I'm not shy or particularly reserved, I just don't want to talk lol. So having the TV there is a nice buffer, so that things don't get too awkward lol
Velvet Way I used to take it personally when clients didn’t talk but I now know it’s either they are shy or just don’t want to ha ha. My job is to give my clients fabulous nails but also create an atmosphere they are comfortable coming to, so tailoring the environment to their preference helps them to feel more comfortable. Thanks for your input!

I definitely agree with you in regards to less is more on the nail desk. I find my space looks way cleaner because everything is put away.

Yes! I'm hoping it functions well for me. I first was just going to get a sink, then I decided you know what? This is my time to make it exactly how I want. So I added extra lighting, internet plug for editing and storage! So I hope it functions well. Thanks hun

Thanks talia I did love your rant over the TV cause I have a TV in my salon and have for yrs but am torn between TV and beautiful salon music which clients love as well, but I truly do not have time for them to chose what they would prefer every time they come in lol
Fair enough! I didn't overly let them pick what was on, just if they said something I would change it for them. Or if I noticed that a client liked a particular show or wasn't talking and preferred to watch the TV, then I would ask what they wanted on. I just like the options it gives :)

Have you considered a nova flare desk Top with ventilation system. It's great and im sure it can be built into your desk or a new desk top.
iSAYfml Would this desk be good if you want to work from home but want to avoid having ventilation built into your home? I dont own ny house so getting ventilation installed may be an issue.

I know where I live, no matter the system I had for my desk they would still make me get ventilation. But not all cities/towns require it. Mine is one of the few
Great nail studio tour. My studio is surrounded by a huge bay window which is problematic for gels. I keep the blinds drawn but would love to display my gel polish collections the way you’ve done with your nook. Would love to move my whole studio to another place where outside light is minimal so that I could also create an Art Display Nook. That would kill me to leave that gem behind! All my gel collections are in drawers. I’m sure your new space will be just as gorgeous and functional. Looking forward to seeing it. Good luck moving!!! Thanks for sharing😍
Oh my gosh, in my new space everything will be put away ha ha. As much as it looks cool out in the nook, for my mind I need things stored away ha ha. So funny how our styles change!
Talia's Nail Tales Actually, I do understand the concept of having things neat and in its place. I’m similar in that I can’t think properly if the place is cluttered etc. when I taught and used to design courses, I used to clean my office before working so I could focus on thinking. Sounds nuts but true☺️. I still love the idea of a nook though. I thought yours looked organized and easy to choose a product from. I’ve used lots of ideas from you!😍
Getting Tipsy - Sculpted Nails by Susan it totally had its purpose too! I felt like for clients it worked well so they could see the options they had. For me now, the options aren’t as imperative as it is for me to be able to find things ha ha.
Try unplugging your nail lamp from the back of the unit, then put your hand in the lamp before you plug it back in. That may get it to go from sensor to manual. Thats how my sensor nail lamp works.

Yourorganization system is AMAZEBALLS! I WISH I HAD A SUPPLY STORE LIKE CANADA WEST.ECT.FOR THOSE RACKS & BRUSH HOLDERS.I HAVE NONE.NO SUPPLY STORES HERE CARRY EITHER ITEMS.I SIMPLY CANT AFFORD TO SHIP THEM, SO ALL MY STUFF LAYS IN DRAWERS. ITS AWFUL. A WHILE BACK U SHOWED THE INSIDE DIVIDERS FOR YOUR GELS, WHERE DID YOU GET THEM? I HAVE 3 SMALL UNITS LIKE YOUR IKEA ONES, BUT CANT FIND ANYWAY TO KEEP THEM ORGANIZED IN THE LITTLE DRAWERS...LOVE YOUR SPACE..

Hi talia thanks for the video. Question: why do u have your dust system up like that vs having it in the desk and hocked up to your shop vac. I'm thinking on changing mine up like yours. Mine is currently in my desk hocked up to my shop vac.
jamie lanoie when I made this system originally, it was when I first started. There wasn’t many dust options then. It’s been working fine for me so I didn’t think of desk. Now that I do more hand filing for shaping, the dust is getting to me with that so I’m thinking of going the desk route now. How do you like your built in the desk?
Talia's Nail Tales. I love it. I have alot of freedom. I saw your hook up a while back and wanted to give it a go. Your right, I forgot about hand filing part. That wouldnt work so well with your hook up.:( there might be other ways around that.. Other techniques for finish filing with a cross bit...I saw that somewhere..Do you find working with the tubing heavy or restricting in anyway?
I've used it since I started so for me it's fine. But I could see someone who wasn't used to it not liking it. I actually struggle to use my efile when I travel and I don't have the system on it ha ha

Forgot to say.... to keep you Light Elegance Lamp constantly on, just put a piece of black tape over the sensor that's located on the inside of your lamp.

LED Lamp over your desk? Doesn‘t it cure your gel or gel polishes?? I still need a lamp, but am afraid it will cure my gel polish.
CrazyAngie83 u would need to hold it right up under the light for a looong time before it would be a problem and even then it would only just form a light skin over the gel
Cathy Storrier thank you. I am always doing my nails during daylight...as far as possible from the window, with no lights on. One time my brush started getting hard. That was next to my window. I guess natural daylight is the killer.
There are different wavelengths of LED and certain ones used to cure gels. It's similar to UV, different are omitted to properly cure gels. The one in my desk lamp will not cure my gels :)
