A reciprocating saw is a great tool to have.... however, I would recommend the IR4429 instead of the IR429 because it's rated at 5750 strokes per minutes instead of 10000 (and can be lowered with an adjusting screw besides the valve) so it really makes the blades last longer (say forever)..... I've personally tried both and I can say the mechanism of the IR4429 is heavier/stronger and does not tend to jam when operated at lower speeds. In my opinion it's really worth the price difference.
I like the saw but I use a Dremmel tool with a small cut off wheel (about 1.25" diameter) for hard to reach places like muffler and exhaust bolts on both small engines and on the exhaust system on my car. Always use safety glasses though!
Thanks for your response, but today I talked to my friend as well as his father and they decided just to give me the blower for free. They said that they were going to throw it out soon anyways and buy a newer Ariens with the power steering, light, and heated grips.
I have already seen this saw under at least five brands, so it is probably manufactured by a single Chinese company and sold under these brands. But that's just an aside. The saw is not bad, but it has a relatively large air consumption. So, in order to achieve the performance according to the video, a two-cylinder compressor is needed, which is on the video. With a single-piston compressor, for weak sheets or plastics. In any case, I recommend lubricating according to the video before use.
Great tool. I have a question for you regarding auger bushing repairs. My friend wants me to repair his Ariens snowblower. I've diagnosed that it has a bad auger bushing. I know this is a big repair, but I was wondering what minimum amount of money should I charge him? The snowblower is an Ariens ST824 from the late 90s.
Bought the knock-off from Harbor Freight and had terrible experience. First two wouldn't even articulate - the seals leaked. 3rd one seemed to work fine until I tried to use it - had no torque. It could cut paper but not cardboard. I want this Ingersoll Rand!
I have been looking for this tool for the past 8 months, where did you get it? I've been to 2 Canadian tires in 2 different cities and both said that a air saw doesn't exist (even after a great detail explanation), sears, home depot all don't have them or don't know what I'm talking about. I did manage to find one at princess auto but it looked pretty cheap and like it would only last a year or so (and was priced at 90$ which IMO is not worth it). love your videos and tool reviews, keepthemcoming
I've run it into my fingers before. It actually isn't bad mainly because of the small teeth and they don't cut into the skin because the skin can move with the blade.
I have that exact saw. Do you have a air hammer? If not is should be on your to buy list. Very handy, after you have one you will wonder how you got by without it.
Nice and good explain. Thank you. However, I wonder that you just used air saw blade for wood to cut off a piece of bolt? At 1;11, color of blade for metal is red.. and blade for wood is white. The metal pipe you cut off with white blade? Isn't that made of aluminum?
Hey donyboy, I have a snapper Serial no 64169541 model 214UIP and it is a rwd engine and it takes transmission fluid. I cant figure out what it takes. can you help?
I'm an auto mechanic and own one. I don't use it too often but it is worth having it for sure. Any idea where I can get replacement blades ? Home Depot doesn't sell them. I had a feeling they wouldn't but checked there anyways. I'm in Toronto, Canada. If I have to buy online, I will.
donyboy73 I'm going to try Princess Auto tomorrow after work (im NOT heading back out now). I know they sell the tool but I'm not sure if they sell the blade package. They're website doesn't list it separately, so I doubt they do, but you never know. Either that or I get the MAC distributor to bring it in for me. Question: do they sell the blades in singles or do you have to buy the 6-pack (3 coarse white & 3 fine red) ?
Does anyone know if these kind of tools can be used with a 12v Portable air compressor? If not, why wouldn't it work. I mean the air compressors that plug into a cigarette lighter in a car. Just wondering because these tools need around 90 PSI and those portable air compressors can reach 250 PSI :)
DonkeyDiddles I hope your kidding and your looking for a rise out of people... but it's not psi it's cfm... you need a large volume of air to run an air tool like this specifically. 60 gallon tank or larger will give you best results. You simply couldn't brake a wheel loose with a 12v air compressor could you? I'm afraid not. A 12v air compressor is mainly for emergencies like filling a flat spare tire if your regular tire were to blow on the side of the highway.. hope that is somewhat helpful, otherwise educate yourself and learn the answers to your question.
To avoid the constant boredom of opening the screw to get at the blade release bolt, drill a hole in the plastic cover in the right place & you can put the allen wrench in - no more faffing with the screw nonsense. Same goes for most of these as they all come from the same factory... cough... :-)
Plus if you get bored of buying the expensive "proper" blades - you can use hacksaw blades - just cut off 3" or so from the blade & you've just made a "body-saw blade." Angle grinder cuts the hacksaw blades effortlessly.
Donnie...nice, bought the same unit from Harbor Freight.....Hey, check out my modification to a Handheld bandsaw.....these units are great and a must have for a shop
Ingersoll rand is better than chicago pneumatic what is everyone talking about? (CP chicago pneumatic) is going downhill in quality. IR makes most of the snap on tools. The parts are made in USA and assembled in China. Most tools today use global parts and is made in China. All snap on air tools offer same warranty as ingersoll rand 1-2years. CP offers 30days, what a joke, and most are made in Taiwan. Btw people who want to buy the ingersoll rand 429 air saw save extra money and buy the ingersoll rand 529 air saw; a low vibration tool. Save your wrist from future arthritis.
thanks for the review bro. i'm totally getting one now
After purchasing two harbor freight boat anchors i purchased this saw works great highly recommend well worth the price.
thanks for watching Dewey!
thanks for watching, have a great weekend!
for sure, have a nice day sir!
Just purchased one of these on eBay. I'm sure it will handle most of the jobs I have to do.

Ingersoll. Is a solid brand never had any issues with them been using their tools for years
Blade tools are only as good as the blade! Thanks.
check at an auto parts store or online, amazon may have it, also ebay
The adjustable foot comes in handy when the blade wears out in a certain spot then you can just move it to use better teeth on the blade
IT'S VERY HANDY!
Great video - thank you! Just bought one!
I pretty much use hack saw blades in mine. They are nice to have.
I love my airsaw I use it all the time!! Thanks for the demo don! I

Another tool I didn't know I really need. Good, small inexpensive tool compared to some of the lion battery smaller sawsalls I've seen.
very true
yes I have an air hammer
I got one of these air saws, works great!😀
I use ours for cutting truck mud flaps to make patches for snowmobile hoods and stuff
Thanks, great short video and to the point.
Great instructions! No where on any of the supplied instructions does it tell you how to install the blade! Thanks!!
Thanks for the concepts you have discussed here.
good idea
Cool tool! i never knew there was such a thing as an air saw.
I have already seen this saw under at least five brands, so it is probably manufactured by a single Chinese company and sold under these brands. But that's just an aside. WOW thats awesome , I need one of those.
That was a great video… very to the point and that’s the best.
🇦🇺🤜🏼🤛🏼🍀🍀🍀😎
Awesome video, as I am looking to buy one of these airsaws to aid in cutting out an old rusty floor pan in my Rust Bucket Chevy Truck.
ohhh WOW.. I need that... Coolll Thanks Donyboy73 gonna order 1 now... at AMAZON.
It's nice that the saw has a variable speed because you can go slower on harder bolts so you don't ware out the blade quickly.
Nice tool dony, I'll need to buy this tool as soon as possible. Great video.
Nice tool Dony, need to get me 1!
great! is there any clamping base available for this?
you'rewelcome

I have bent the blade on mine so many times that I snapped and use a hack saw blade that's a bit longer
What a neat tool, i can see why you like it :-)
The right tool makes your job so much easyer, you take care of it so im sure it will last years :-)
nice but changing blade could be easier like my sawzall
Nice video, I might get one, I've been looking at corded ones too though, more power etc ...
Amazon does have it! Just search "Ingersoll Rand 429" and "Ingersoll Rand 429G" and you'll find it! It is $79.99 US.
at least one hour if all goes well, usually it doesn't so it could be longer especially if stuff is seized
usually it's because of jealousy or fear, I feel sorry for them, however they watch all my videos so it still helps my stats

Amazing! The IR model 429 air saw, sounds like a little .049 Cox Engine.
Thanks, Don!
Cheers! :-)
I've run it into my fingers before. It actually isn't bad mainly because of the small teeth and they don't cut into the skin because the skin can move with the blade.
that might be more economical too,
bery good explain .i just buy one and it is very good machine a good prize
Thanks for the video.
well that's just great, more stuff i want to buy, thanks a lot! :)
ingersoll or any cheap air saw with same specification is OK??
I have that exact saw. Do you have a air hammer? If not is should be on your to buy list. Very handy, after you have one you will wonder how you got by without it.
Is it bad thAt the blade vibrates excessively
I bought in almost new condition from my dad
pretty well a "must have" tool
wow like butter, my sawzall don't do that. Nice saw
Nice and good explain. Thank you.
However, I wonder that you just used air saw blade for wood to cut off a piece of bolt?
At 1;11, color of blade for metal is red.. and blade for wood is white. The metal pipe you cut off with white blade? Isn't that made of aluminum?
thanks for the tip
Just bought one. Its losing a small amount of air on the exhaust port when not in use. Is this normal? Intake is fine checked it with some soap water.
+Hulla Dek
Not normal, not even on the cheap HF knockoffs.
Good info, thanks.
Can be used it for cutting wood
Thanks
yes just replace the blade
Neat tool. Thanks for sharing.
i wish somebody could come up with a flush cut saw, im tired of ruining blades trying to cut off stuff flush with another surface
around $100
minimum air pressure requirements?
90psi
I'm a heating and plumbing installer and that thingy is my wet dream.
how many PSI do you need, because I have a small portable compressor?
superwout 90 psi as he said
lol, no sparks today
Hey donyboy, I have a snapper Serial no 64169541 model 214UIP and it is a rwd engine and it takes transmission fluid. I cant figure out what it takes. can you help?
it looks like it would be able to take the same blades as a jig saw
Awe darn it. I thought maybe it would give at least the thrill of an angle grinder.
CAN YOU DO A VIDEO ON AIR CHUCKS THERE ARE LOTS OF DIFFERENT ONES AND THE ARE NOT ALL COMPATABLE
شكرا
Good Video
That's one of those tools that when you need it - you need it. Otherwise, out comes the Sawzall. BTW how does it work on skin? :-))
CrociatoAzzurro I bought the tool here in Muskoka at Muskoka Auto Parts and also the extra blades
CrociatoAzzurro also on ebay blades are available

CrociatoAzzurro I forget about pack specs but Mac or matco should have what you need
+CrociatoAzzurro
A hack saw blade will go in nicely, cuts pretty good too.

What's "dony" mean
hi, people call me Donny or don, when I got this username the Donny with 2 n' was gone
If you didn't make this video we'd never would have figured out how to install the blade, no direction where included. Thanks
I'll just take a guess but I think it's his name
Donnie...nice, bought the same unit from Harbor Freight.....Hey, check out my modification to a Handheld bandsaw.....these units are great and a must have for a shop
