you are the greatest youtuber ever dude
This guy I swear, I've been obsessing about "you" and "analyse" for the past week just constantly blasting the mtv version to get that crisp angelic broken wing wailing of thom and I was HOPING to god warren has a tutorial because I really need to wail like that. And here we are... You have no idea, warren. You're very much needed and we send a lot of light your way.
This was one of the first songs I tried to learn on guitar with the help of this tutorial but couldn’t as I was just starting out. I just came back to learn it again and finally got it. Thank you so much for the lesson!
Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here's why:
1) I am trying to encourage you to listen to the sound to confirm whether or not you have the right note. I hope every guitar student would see it this way, that, in the end, learning music is really more about the sound than where you find it on the guitar.
2) I learn these by ear, so tabs are very tedious to write when I don't use them myself.
3) Tabs are only an entry point into learning. If not, they condition you to rely on something other than your ear. They become a crutch.
I love the way you structure tutorials. It's very inviting to people who don't read music.
Maybe it’s because I don’t “read music” 😅. To me it’s all about understanding the musical idea. And if standard notation is the best way to understand an idea, then great. Go for it. But usually for guitar music, rock/alternative/folk/indie music, electronic music, it isn’t.
@@warrenmusic 100% agree. Though I can see how writing/reading music is beneficial for orchestral scores (which is what Jonny does).
Did you know about Thom and Jonny's new project, The Smile? There is a lot of odd time signatures - it's like jazz meets punk.
@@MicahBuzanMUSIC Right, the notation borne from that tradition of music is right for the music borne from that tradition. Standard notation doesn't really work for other traditions of music, but it is so ubiquitous that the institution will be slow to embrace other forms like the grid.
Yes The Smile's album is up for pre-order today.
You are the KING of guitar tutorials. Better than any teacher I ever had
absolutely incredible tutorial - this is my favourite radiohead track live - so much energy and you've managed to capture that in this acoustic version. Thank you.
You're very welcome!
Warren is the perfect person if you can't afford guitar classes (like me)
Thank you for posting this. I have searched and searched for the tab for this version. And the finally find it and done so well has made my day, if not year. Many thanks and keep up the good work.
I have stepped upon something quite phenomenal here! You are utterly fantastic and have spurred me on to learn this, as well as some of my other favourite Radiohead songs! Thank you so much!
i've been waiting years for this tutorial, thanks warren , cheers from Argentina
Em walkup is just the Em scale. When you play or "walk up" the scale through the chord, you can emulate Jonny's part.
beautiful
You are my fave guitar teacher! I am so glad you covered and taught You! :D
A few years back I started to watch your videos and your intrigued me with learning how to play music by Radiohead on guitar and I just want to say thanks and that you should check out my cover of jigsaw which I learn how to play because of you once again thank you my good friend- Diego
Man I miss these lessons
Excellent video, you are a real inspiration and have got me out of a rut of playing within my comfort zone, your passion for music is truly infectious!!
Thank you. This song is so strong.
Bravo.... beautiful explanation simple and practical!
Great thanks for teaching us the seal song
What a kind babe this man is love u man
so clear, so well explained; you are the best warren, thk you so much.
Thanks for the tutorial, it's really opened up a new territory in my understanding of the guitar neck. I posted a response video but have no idea how to link this text to it... Keep up the good work!
i wish i was better.. i get pretty lost in the blues section as to what to hit. i've never had any lessons and can figure out some things by early half assed but it takes forever. i really want to learn this.
Es hermoso el arpegio de esta cancion
This is one of those songs you cannot not learn. Cheers Warren you are awesome!
Song learned. Thanks for such a great cover, this is the only tutorial that i actually liked so far. BTW, at first i was trying to play exactly how you did it in your cover, but i think it's not right, i shall play this in my own way.
wow thanks, warren, i think i got it! i love your tutorials.
*Sings* "I'm going to hammerrrrr!" thanks for posting the cool tutorial!
Warren, could you give us the tab for what Thom is playing in the intro of that acoustic version? I'd really appreciate it! Thanks! You're the man!
Thanks...i finally learned it from you..
Thank you Warren!!
I love how the hybrid part sounds like the end of Welcome To The Machine by Pink Floyd.
Yes! Thanks for this - one of my favorite songs :)
Can you please post the tabs?
You are by far the best person I found that can play this and I would really like to learn it, but I just don’t understand the tabs the way you explained them in the video. I’d really appreciate it!
Hi Nerak, when you hear me list a bunch of numbers in a row, it's which fret you need to press, from the thickest to the thinnest string. For example, a G chord in standard tuning would look like this: 320003. Get it? The video is the tab.
WARRENMUSIC I understand it now, thanks for getting back to me
I love this song c: thanks
That hybrid part messed me up haha.
I couldn't really see which strings are in 10:42 (let alone understand why I speak another language). if anyone can help me in that part I would be happy
Oi, da 6 corda para a 1: 05x700, ai dps vai pra 7 casa,9,10,12,14,15,14.
You're awesome!
so fucking good
god mode initiated
Hey Warren. I've been following you for a while and have learned quite a bit from you, so thanks for that. I was just wondering what types of strings you use. Gauge, brand, etc.
When you click to leave a comment, you can choose "Create a Video Response" or click "Post."
Great lesson!thanks
superb thankyou
THANK YOU, this expains everything I wanted to add onto the version I already know. :oD
Thank you very much for this.
when you say Eminor with 2 fingers, do you mean E minor with 1 finger across the 2 strings? I'm getting a bit stuck on the last part but I'll get there!
MUITO OBRIGADA, TU TA ME AJUDANDO MUITOOOOOO
tá me salvando muito aqui também
when warren refers to the "Em walkup scale" i cant find anything online. i'm trying the variants of Em, but no success. can anyone point me in the right direction? i would really appreciate it.
I am sorry to hear that. But look on the bright side, the beauty of it being on RUclips is you can pause at the difficult points and re-watch, right? My response to your second sentence: that's not possible. If you use the exact same chord shape and tuning I am, it will sound the same. Try to see if you've got the right shape but wrong string, or right shape wrong fret, or if you are not properly fretting all of the notes. Most of these problems are solved with some patience and diligence.
What are you doing at 2:30 ish (in the cover) when you switch from strumming to fingerpicking? The microphone is in the way and I can't see! :(
@Conacostock That's a first, a comment before the vid was actually finished uploading hahaha.
can you tab the hybrid part pls! i dont speak english and i cant hear clearly! thanks!
anyone else havin problems with the blusey part? i get you mute all the strings just don't know what strings i'm hitting hammering onto.. getting confused. prolly makin it worse on myself.
fck yeah! you are awesomeeeee
oh warren, you seem be bored by king of limbs :D you surprised me more than with lady gaga!
does anyone what strings thom is playing for the into.
Is the song in A or G? I took the tonic note in the vocal melody to be the first word "You". Is that right?
You is in neither key, and the vocal melody doesn't start on A or G. The vocal melody starts on B. But B is not the tonic. This song changes keys, so it is a bit more complex than the Melody Module you might have come from. I see you Mothi, and your other comments on my site, I just haven't gotten to them because I'm on my honeymoon.
The tonal center of this song is E.
oh wow i can't wait for this video to finish processing.
The solo?
Che chitarra usi?è costruito da un liutaio?
why not post the tabs, had to stop the video 7 times because you talked so fast
please i dont understand how to play de "D" (re) help meee i don´t understand where i have to put my fingers
2-0-0-2-3-0, Warren's pressing the 2nd fret on the lowest string with his thumb.
+Gera Rios mmm ok i'll try it, but is so fucking difficult but thank youu!
@vagvll agreed man, Pablo, Bends and Computer were by far the best, Kid A was good but after that it went downhill with the whole electronic music thing
Can you post tabs?
The video is the tab, but you can commission me privately for chord charts, tutorials, and more - medium.com/warrenmusic/warren-lain-about-8b9141f9f40a

Pablo honey is amazing , so powerful.the first 3 albums were their best, im not a very big fan of the rest of their work
Thanks!=) Fucking awesome! :))
But with that said, I'm sorry about that and hope you understand why tabs are not the important thing.
