I live in Texas and was having problems with my solar install .Found RV's Off Grid on google. Called Jason and made an appointment . His father Bruce was very helpful . He checked my system out updated all the firmware and got me going again. I took his suggestions upgraded my battery and installed some more Victron equipment. Very pleasant and down to earth. His price for trouble shooting and consultation was 1/2 of what another local RV technician quoted me. Bruce has a massive solar system that he installed on his home/shop. I will recommend them and will use them in the future ! You made a great decision using RV's Off Grid ! Love your channel and all of the state park tours !
Thank you for watching. We thoroughly enjoyed working with Jason and Bruce. We felt they went far beyond the minimum. We will definitely use them again if we have more solar needs.
Thanks for the video. Adding the solar upgrade to your rig was a good decision. I like that you research and think about the different options shows you have discerning judgement. 👏 I am looking forward to seeing the next video.
I really appreciate how you two explained your system in non overly technical terms. What you did makes sense and you should recoup most of the costs in short order by boondocking and not paying the high campground fees. Please keep us updated on how you use your system and how it preforms. ❤
We plan on making a video after we've tried it out on a month long trip and a six week trip. We love being able to boondock, but it will be much easier with this set up.
Hello from the stormy ozarks Melina and Sharon! Another video of value! You will recoup the cost of camps by boondocking and enjoying the seclusion of other campers. you will get spoiled boondocking compared to visiting a rv park. You made a wise decision to update your rv rather than the expense of the new rig, I use my 800w foldable solar panels outside on the ground to charge my portable 3000w generator. more than enough power to run my ac, microwave and heaters in my conversion van with my roof fiberclass top tent. i do carry my portable solar electric fence to keep the critters away . Grace be with you both. Tight lines!
Phil, we've been doing more and more boondocking. On our six week trip to California last year, we spent $105 at RV parks. The rest of the time, we were boondocking. So far, we love the solar install. We had a little, but this is a game changer.
Thank you so much for posting this type of video. It makes more sense. We have the same model a newer year but our storage compartment that’s what we were worried about space loss because years you know that’s the only storage compartment on that unit except for the indoor storage yours looks like it went very well, now that we’ve got a an ideal. I think we also will move forward white little bit solar. The RV came with it’s just enough to triple charge the battery once again thank you.
Watching this because your trailer is similar to one I considered getting back in 2016 or so, but delayed because trailer storage is so expensive in my region. So I went for a very simple set-up. I’ve had my ProMaster City cargo minivan new since 2018. At first I minivan camped in parks with some dispersed camping (boondocking) by throwing a cot in back, along with a folding table, camp chairs, a cooler, stove/kitchen stuff in one bin & clothing/stuff in another. I did have a power station to run a CPAP with a 60w folding solar panel. Then for last 1 1/2 years did a simple camper conversion that included 100w solar panel on the roof & solenoid to use the alternator to charge the 75ah AGM house battery with all the controllers & fuses to run some 12v charging outlets, lighting, a 400w inverter, a small 25qt fridge. This means I have been able to use a couple of small appliances like a Dash griddle, 12v HotLogic Mini slow cooker oven & a 12v kettle. That has been fine so far & I was surprised at what a game changer having a 12v fridge has been, but now I’m looking an upgrade to a lithium 100ah battery (maybe a 2nd panel) with Victron DC-2-DC charger & a 1000w inverter (has a surge to 2k) so I can run an Nuwave induction stove (my model can switch down to 600w, 900w from the standard 1100w it would run at in a home. Using my duel fuel (butane/propane) stove outside camping has been fine, but I’m not thrilled with an open flame in such a small space inside during bad weather.
We thought about that before they were installed; however panels have come a long way since we had our first one installed back in early 2019. Thanks for the reminder.
Thank you so much for this video. I want to add solar to my small class c. It came prewired for both roof top and a suitcase style panel, but nothing else. I can’t do it myself and had no clue how to get started. Maybe a trip to Texas is in my future.
Nice setup, but please cover your naked cabling on the roof. Solar UV will eat it in no time. Try to push it under the panels as much as possible and maybe get some self adhesive plastic conduit to cover the exposed cables. Enjoy!
Hilarious-my head was spinning 2:00 minutes into the video! Very wise choice to “add on” to what fits like a glove! We’re all so quick to buy that shinny object, instead of researching pros & cons. Thanks for the recommendation for solar installation! Gotta have a little AC off grid in Texas, or wherever ya’ go! Keep the videos coming!
Dang! Y'all went all out!! My new Momentum 25G has 300 watts that came with it. Trip to Great Wolf went well btw. Kids loved it. Stayed at Lanatana RV Village in Argyle and that was also nice. It's ore of a full-time luxury park but it was super clean, had strict rules, off the major highways. Overall great experience. Anyhow, I am looking forward to seeing how well your solor system works. By the looks of it, you just just about plug your house into it when the power goes out.
I don't know of anyone who doesn't love Great Wolf. Personally, we've never been, but it looks like a fun place to stay. We plan to post a video after we've made several long trips, one for a month or so and one for around 6 weeks.
I noticed your bill didn't include an inverter? How big is it? Yes, prices for new is out of reach for most non working people. I'll probably keep mine until it falls apart from rot in my back yard. Thanks for your video and happy camping! We go on our1st next week.

Very nice.
We're eager to use it on a couple of long trips this summer.

For us, adding the solar to our Micro Minnie made the most sense. We will have more videos about the solar and how it's working. Thanks for watching.

Thank you so much for watching. We are eager to really try out this much solar. We've been on short trips, and it's been great.
That’s a awesome upgrade. Thanks for sharing. ❤
We are pleased with the whole thing. We'll let you know how it's working.

Wow! You truly have made the most of what you've had. We wish you only the best as you continue your travels.
You girls got me thinking…getting ready to go full time in June. Gonna see how that goes and then decide on solar. Love you both!
Thank you so much. If you ever see us, please stop by to chat. We love meeting our viewers.
My husband and I were having this same discussion over the last several months! Even looking at the Ekko. Thank you again for a great video.
For us, it made much more sense than investing in a new RV.
That's a cool solar install. Have a great time using that!
We're excited about the upgrade.
Great video. But watch out for hail storms, they can wreck panels on the roof.
We thought about that before they were installed; however panels have come a long way since we had our first one installed back in early 2019. Thanks for the reminder.

The system is still new, but we are loving it.

Thanks for the suggestion.
Everything on the price list looks right except the Victron BMV-712 bluetooth monitor is $206, not $350.
We feel that overall, we paid a fair price. Off the Grid RV goes above and beyond to see that their customers are happy.

I meant to mention that we kept the inverter we had. 4000 wt peek 2000 wt running.
You made a wise investment. As a retiree I understand your hesitation on a $200,00 + investment. Safe travels.
Thank you so much. We really appreciate your support.
