amazing approach! - these are lovely -- each one, at the end, looked like it could develop into a mini-masterpiece -- I've never seen this before -- thanks for sharing ;)
Very cool Mary! I did something like this a while back doing abstracts and some figures on my channel. I didn't even know it had a name :) But I love how it frees me up to experiment and try new things. Love the colors you used here and how your sheep turned out. Thanks for sharing :)
I just finished this. I didn’t do sheep, but, I’m pleased with how it turned out. Thank you for your great classes!! Like you say, it’s therapeutic and so fun!!
Hi Julie . . . I can't seem to find it now either. I remember it being a grid journaling video with Kellee Wynne (Color Crush Creative). If I find it again, I'll be sure to let you know. Thanks for your comment.
@@maryellis7639 Thanks, Mary. Now I know how to spell her name and other specifics though- and I’ll keep on looking!😉 Maybe it doesn’t even matter because your video got me going until late last night! Painting thumbnails for hours and finding color combinations that work for me. I can’t wait to watch and paint more! I so appreciate you taking the time to answer my question…❤️
Stabilo pencil. They are water soluble. I love to draw with them and then activate them with matte medium to somewhat seal them. The line gets very dark when you activate it and you can move the pigment around for shadows and random marks.
The pages in this pad of paper are 8 x 11.5 and the squares are 2 x 2 inch. I made a stencil with cardboard by cutting out (4) 2 x 2 inch squares so it's fast and easy to draw the squares on the paper. Thanks for your question.
Hi Pamela . . . stabile-all is a pencil. It comes in different colors but I mostly use the black one. When you draw it goes on black but when you activate it with water or matte medium is turns very dark. It is water soluble so you can move it around when you activate it. I use matte medium to activate it so that it somewhat seals it. It's one of my favorite supplies. Thanks for your question.
Interesting question. I had to think about it for a while. I do have a small journal that I only create simple abstracts in. However, most of my paintings have a realistic aspect. What has me so excited and recording these videos is merging the two together. Starting abstract with a few colors and shapes is so interesting and sometimes I feel like I could stop at that point . . . but I love the process of adding something realistic and then figuring out what to leave in or paint out. I am as surprised as anyone else what appears as you can tell in my videos. lol.
Love all your grid art Mary. Look forward to them all and loving painted sheep this was a joy to watch. God Bless
Awww . . . thank you for the kind words!
First time to watch you. Will be binging now on your videos. I love sheep! These are great.
Thank you so much! I do that too. Run across someone that inspires me and then watch every video. lol.

What's the pencil? Stabilla?
Stabilo pencil. They are water soluble. I love to draw with them and then activate them with matte medium to somewhat seal them. The line gets very dark when you activate it and you can move the pigment around for shadows and random marks.
What size paper are you using and what size did you make the squares? Thank you

Do you ever just create abstracts without the need to draw a realistic figure or animal?
