This is probably the best G80 review out there. Lots of useful information. Well-organized and presented. All my questions were answered. What a great job!
“Not suitable for taking corners in high speeds.” *takes a corner in a relatively high speed* Great review, I was just curious what the new updates were because I have a 2018 G80 ultimate with a V8 here in the state’s. I love it, I think it’ll age well and my favorite part of the car is actually the thick windows for insulation.
I’m currently deciding between G80 and Kia K900 (2019 model). I’m more into comfort/luxury rather than sport (yes I used to love speed but as I mature, not so much anymore). so heavily leaning towards K900. I just wish it had the panoramic sunroof of the G80 since I live in the semi-tropics which means sunshine almost every day
Hello, guys. We are premiering the 2019 Genesis G80 review soon. Let's find out what has changed for the 2019 year model and also how it drives. Thank you & support us by subscribing to our channel!
Genesis doesn’t need to change the design at all. They can update the interior to match the G70, along with upgrading the suspension. The G80 needs rear seat power outlets. The Genesis interior switch gear and infotainment system is the so easy to use compared to any other brand I’ve considered.
Yes, it seems that clean exterior design will age very well. And i love the interior as well. Just like you have pointed out new tech upgrades will make G80 interior even more appealing to new buyers. Thanks for tuning in & we are just getting started, so please share our channel with your friends. Thank you
hahah omg you are a bad ass. You drive really fast. Its the first time im seeing a reviewer doing that... be careful but its an amazing review. Thanks.
"EPS system in G80 feels both direct and table however because the car is so large and heavy its not suitable for attacking corners at high speed" *REVS ENGINE, SKRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT*. I died laughing at that part. I was like "omg this guy is a beast"
This the first real review of the 2019 thanks cause I’m in love with the genesis from 2015 to present it’s a very beautiful car from exterior to interior love it but the the only thing bad is that I was hearing it had a slug with engine or transmission cause I am a Hyundai owner of a 2015 Sonata and it transmission hesitate when I put my foot on the gas and go so I hope the 2019 genesis is not like that
Thank you for tuning in. And about the transmission hesitance, i know what your talking about because my wife drives 2014 Sonata. This G80 does not have that. Maybe better transmission, but maybe torquey V-6. But no worries with transmission hesitance. Thank you
I really love these cars. The only issue i have are with the dealership models. I have went to look at genesis models more then once at local Hyundai dealers. And now the closest one is not certified to even sell them anymore. The Hyundai dealer about 35 min from my house the customer service and sales felt more like a buy here lot then a luxury dealership.
I hope they make more dealerships and service centers in your area. Thanks for tuning in & we are just getting started so please share our channel with your friends. Thank you.
I'm looking at purchasing the 2019 G80 Sport but was wondering if I added maybe a Premium Package to the 3.8, would I be as happy and what would I get in the Sport that I wouldn't have with the 3.8 with the Premium package?
Yes, we are all greedy. More is always better. But just choose according to your financial plans. Thank you deebee0712 for watching our Genesis G80 review.
Thank you, just trying to show you the dynamics of the car. Well, not much has changed. They added lots of safety features (driving aids) as standard on every model and redesigned the dual screen for the rear passengers. So just a few changes.
Hello Charlie! I've just making my way to 2015 Genesis G80 3.8 RWD. Any heads up for me to look out for before i set both my feet down onto making the confirmation purchase for the car? It is equipped with full option except the rear seats display screens.
Hello, Zaki. Congratulations. Well, i don't think there is any special issues that you should be concerned about. Just check for any big collision signs and any damages from floods. Thank you Zaki and congratulations.
@@AsianPetrolhead that's awesome! Thanks for making my choice alot more concrete than before. I will not regret this because to be honest, i have been looking for cars that has the moonroof intergrated. Few are in my list. Some of them are the BMW X5, the 535GT, the Audi Q7, and the VW Toureg. I also believe that the genesis will age well in 5 years tops. Atleast 😁👍
Hi Charlie ... just found your channel. Subscribed because I liked your presentation style. I’m in a quandary ... I live in South Florida and I’m deciding between G80 Ultimate (large panoramic sunroof and for maintenance Genesis will bring loaner car to me and then bring back my car when serviced) and the new K900 (really luxurious but small sunroof). Any thoughts?
Well, except the sunroof, i mean both cars are big and luxurious. But G80 seems more like tailored for younger buyers, bit more stylish. On the other hand K900 is the flagship sedan of Kia motors, so they tend to put more tech inside and it looks more mature. It shares same platform and powertrain, so it has to be design that you have to choose from. Thank you Rob~
Well, the k900 that i reviewed was a model equvalent to G80 sport. It had 3.3 twin turbo with much more features. For me personally, genesis feels younger and hansome. Thanks.
@@AsianPetrolhead I think this is due to the K900 being designed to compete with the BMW 7 series, G90 and cars in that size range and the G80 is more of 5 series competitor. I have driven the G80 Sport and while it drives well, I feel it could use a bit more sportiness as well as an updated interior, mainly the dash area. The seats are great and comfortable, the car drives well with the new powertrain and suspension, I hope the replacement improves on the sportiness side.
Asian Petrolhead I owned a 2009 and 2011 Hyundai Genesis, a 2013 Hyundai Sonata hybrid, a 2015 Hyundai Sonata 2.0t Ltd. The only problems I had was with both sonatas. The hybrid needed the fuel tank replaced, and it worked fine with no problems at all after that. Now my 2.0t push button start wouldn’t crank prolly like 2 times a month and when I bought it to the dealer they couldn’t replicate it of course. So I traded that one in for a used 2013 lexus LS460L. I love the direction Hyundai is moving in in the luxury division. The Genesis G90, G80, and G70 are getting excellent reviews from almost every auto journalist around the world. I would’ve gotten the G90 if I could, but Hyundai wasn’t willing to negotiate to my liking on that hot car.
Great review. Love the G80. Genesis is really trying to step up their game. Looking forward to re-engineering and platform changes in 2021 that move away from Hyundai to Genesis exclusive based platform. Would like to see improvement in Lexicon Sound System and solve the problems experienced by some owners with blown amplifiers because they are manufactured by third party suppliers. And better speakers that can withstand high SPL's. Maybe go from single disc to 3 disc in dash player for those who still listen to CD's as their primary music source. Hope they pursue of creating high-performance versions of Genesis vehicles to compete with the Mercedes-AMG or BMW M skunkworks brands. Finally, would like to see more Brick and Mortar stand-alone Genesis dealerships in US instead housed in Hyundai dealerships.
Wow that you for your detailed comment. I hope they do make performance version of Genesis. How about twin turbo charging 5.0 v8. Right? Thanks for tuning in & we are just getting started so please share our channel with your friends. Thank you.
I’m guessing the 5.0 V8 isn’t used in Korea any longer or was it never available there? I have read Hyundai is coming out with revised engines and the 3.3 will be enlarged to 3.5 and it will have a turbocharged version to give it more power to replace the 5.0 V8 in the upcoming G80/90 vehicles. Have you heard anything on this there that you can share?
Yes, in Korea Genesis is reserving 5.0 for G80. In stead we have 3.3 liter twin turbo for sport. Many rumors about new powertrain but Hyundai is yet to give out any clear messages. Thank you.
I’m looking at genesis G70, G80 and Kia stinger. Would the G80 be the same size as the Kia stinger in terms of passenger room? I drive a subcompact now and I think the G70 would be too small for me.
Yes Gensis g70 would seem small to you. Stinger has slightly bigger 2nd row seats. But if you want comfortable backseats you gotta go at least g80. Thanks.
Asian Petrolhead thanks for the reply. By any chance do you know if the new g80 will have an option for the same rims as the 2020 G90, I really like the classy look compared to the rims show on the 2020 g80 spyshots. Thank you
Why do all the Genesis sedans (G70, G80, G90) have relatively the same fuel efficiency (18-19 mpg city, 31-32 mpg highway) regardless of weight or engine type (3.3 base or turbo)?
@@AsianPetrolhead No, that is based on your reviews of all 3 sedans (which i viewed). But even according to the US EPA specs, the G70 3.3 turbo (there is no naturally aspirated 3.3 engine for any Genesis in the US; the G70 has an available 2.0 turbo and the G80 has a natural 3.8 V6 and a 5.0 V8 while the G90 only has 3.3 turbo or 5.0 V8) with AWD/HTRAC and 8-speed automatic (so comparing the exact same powertrain and drivetrain) gets 18/25/20 mpg (city/highway/combined), the G80 gets 17/24/20 and the G90 also gets 17/24/20. So almost the exact same between even the G70 and the G90 which is around 900 lbs (over 400 kg) heavier. There is a bigger difference in efficiency between the 4 cylinder and V6 for the G70 and the V6 and V8 with the G80 and G90, however. With the G80, the larger natural 3.8 AWD gets about 1 mpg better than the 3.3 turbo in the city but the same for highway and combined while the 3.8 RWD gets 1 mpg better across the board at 18/26/21 than the turbo 3.3 RWD. Interestingly, the G90 gets the exact same mileage for AWD or RWD 3.3 at 17/24/20. Of course this is just government testing, but even your real life tests showed this same thing. So i'm still confused...
Asian Petrolhead~~I am a 60 year old and partially disabled man who's looking for a cruiser. My decision is between a 2019 Toyota Avalon Limited and the 2018/2019 G80 w/ 3.8 liter V6...RWD in the Ultimate trim. There is about $10K difference, not an issue. Your opinion, please
This interior is really nice, I don't believe that color option is available in the US. I currently lease a Volvo S90, but the day I'm able to give them that car back, I'm going back to Genesis. Hopefully the 2020 G80 is still as nice as this generation and also doesn't skyrocket in price. The spy shots suggest it'll be a great looking car...as long as they keep those G90 wheels far away.
13.3 km per litre that’s that’s 7.5 l per 100 km. If that’s accurate it’s amazing. I don’t think it’s attainable on longer trip . My computer read out is always off by 1-1.5 l per 100 km I wouldn’t trust the displayed numbers.
Thank you Robert, well you know it's not full to full method, so it's not that accurate. We just used the trip computer result. The 13.3km/l was obtained by droving about 38km on the highway approximately 90~100km/h. So it's just cruising numbers. Thank you Robert
I hate to say this, it is not as good at it looks, the quality is not there. I have 42000 Km on my 2015 Genesis and it rattles, it started after first months of driving it, I took it to dealership, they could not fix it. After three years of use, the ride is not smooth at all, lots wind noise. My less expensive Subaru drives way better than my luxury Genesis. My lease is over next year and no more Genesis( Hyundai). No wonder why their sales are down.
I had a 2015 5.0 for almost three years. Not one single rattle or wind noise. Traded for a new 18 Sport and it's just as solid. Sales are down because lack of dealer networks, not because they aren't good cars. Sorry you had a bad experience though.
I own a G80 5.0 ultimate.
It is a fantastic car, best car I have owned by far.
Thank you James for sharing

Well, we haven't tested G80 3.3t, but we test drove 3.3T K900. And it took 6.9 seconds to 100km/h. Thank you for tuning in!
The rear control and infotainment, are they only available on korean-spec G80s?
I am totally sure how they sell in other countries. But seems like they do not have in North America. Thank you.
Feels like an action movie... great review and vid, but slow down out there bro… lmfao
Thank you Jason. I will be careful. Thank you for tuning in and supporting us.
Good👍🏻
Thank you V-903 for tuning in and for the thumbs up!

Thank you sir.
No more 5.0???
Not in Korea, but in North America, Genesis is selling G80s with 3.8L & 5.0L V-8. Thank you for tuning in
Top Up g80

اللهم ارزقني ياكريم
Hum... You didn't like our review?
Bruh it does not go 0-100km/h in 2.9 seconds. That would be as fast as a ferrari 488.
Yes that would be crazy. Thank you Nathan.
Есть такой.
thank you.
Asian Petrolhead? LOL that is one funny name.
Thank Alex for tuning in.
3:08 lol 7-8 seconds to reach 100 kilograms 😂
thanks
"Not suitable for taking corners at high speed"
Takes corner at high speed lol
Yes, Sam! Just highlighting my point! LOL
The last year G80 looked bad ass. 2020 and beyond front is not as good.
Same as 2018 2017
Yes, mostly same. They have added fee features. Thanks.
Man BUNK all this bull💩! BRING OUT THE COUPE!💯👍🏻
I agree a coupe would be a killer. Thanks for tuning in~

감사합니다.
The American models have 311 HP
I hate to say this, it is not as good at it looks, the quality is not there. I have 42000 Km on my 2015 Genesis and it rattles, it started after first months of driving it, I took it to dealership, they could not fix it. After three years of use, the ride is not smooth at all, lots wind noise. My less expensive Subaru drives way better than my luxury Genesis. My lease is over next year and no more Genesis( Hyundai). No wonder why their sales are down.
I am sorry to hear that. Hope they make durability as solid as it should be. Thanks for tuning in.
I had a 2015 5.0 for almost three years. Not one single rattle or wind noise. Traded for a new 18 Sport and it's just as solid. Sales are down because lack of dealer networks, not because they aren't good cars. Sorry you had a bad experience though.
Get rid of the music . Irritating
Hello Blake. Okay next time i use more ear friendly music. Thank you for tuning in.
