∼ It feels good to edit without coloring and/or effects, (or almost no voiceovers!) lemme tell you. That said, I don't feel like I did justice to the song. I was out of my depth, to be honest, and I think it shows. Also some of the clips quality isnt the best, meh. Well, I tried. I love this family so. damn. much. You don't understand.
Needless to say, I was fairly disappointed with the finale because it felt ... forced. Like, am I supposed to believe they were really out of options when they survived for two thousand years? ... Right. Bet you that if Legacies wasn't a thing, The Originals would've ended in a completely different way.

∼ Anyway! I loved this show a whole lot, maybe even more than tvd. The first two seasons where damn near perfect, because the plot was beautifully integrated within the family dynamics. S3 was very enjoyable despite its flaws. My problem was with s4/5 which were too plot-driven for my taste. I guess asking for a more in-depth character-driven show was too much to ask for. Shame. But I will say that 5x06-5x13 did pull at my heartstrings, and that was of course because the family was at the forefront.
∼ Besides, this show's strength was always in the family dynamics. I loved the conflit between them, it was so quintessentially ... THEM, you know? Siblings forced to stick together for longer than objectively tolerable, centuries and centuries of betrayals and separations and then again reunions to face the latest threat to their own existence. A codependent toxic mess, basically.
Always and Forever was as much a curse as it was a promise, or as Finn once said "Forever is a burden than nobody should have to bear".
∼ And yet, they had that kind of visceral and primeval connection that would always bring them back together again, by each other's side, no matter the resentment, or the anger, or the bitterness they felt toward one another, and toward Klaus in particular.
How poetic is it that it was his daughter who stood as their family's hope, their last resort when the bond of blood had corrupted them to their very core? Hope is what gave them the purpose and determination to amend to the evil they had committed against each other and especially to the evil that had been inflicted upon them by their parents. The ultimate outcome to the abuse they originally suffered by their parents' hands, past the thousand-year-old blood thirst, past the ruthlessness they were infamously known for, was indeed the pure, all human, unconditional love for Hope. Sigh. I'm gonna miss them.

I watched all of TVD and like half a season of this show but i stopped then. Anyway, I love the focus on family in this, the strong between them despite all their fights, they are family and the reason they have survived for as long as they have, this is WONDERFUL
