      Thanks so much -- yes, I can't wait for my own update too! 😆 I'm looking forward to hopefully having this limelight hydrangea tree blooming its heart out again next year, but perhaps a bit smaller and better pruned! 😉

    Hi Laura - loved this video - I am anxiously waiting for your March video on pruning ! I live in Toronto and need to prune back my limelight standard. Although we don’t get tropical storms we can get heavy spring and summer rainfalls that can make the branches/flowers bow to the ground and splay. Can’t wait for your video..

      Thanks Doug -- you won't have too much longer to wait! I'm hoping to prune mine in the next week. Just pruned our Dappled Willow (video should be up soon), and also our Knock Out Roses (will be next video), then pruning the Limelight Hydrangea Tree, my Little Lime Hydrangeas and the Pinky Winky Hydrangeas (and there will be videos of each to come). Thanks for subscribing!

      Hi Doug, After waiting for RUclips to "process" my video all week long, it is finally up! Make sure to select the 1080p version to watch, as it is only rendering in low-def automatically. (Eventually it will be in 4K, whenever RUclips finishes processing it.) I hope this video is helpful to you!

      @@GardenSanity Thank you so much !!! The video was very helpful and of all the videos on RUclips yours was the best one on how to prune a Limelight. We really appreciate it - great job.

      @@dougbrown2920 Well, you made my day! I really appreciate the feedback. I try and make videos to answer my own questions on how to prune something. I like to dumb it down and then get specific. 😀 Glad this was helpful to you!

    I'm building a 14 in. space, square lattice panel to feed the bent flowers threw and support the stems. Ripping out of fence stock 6x6feet square. The 1 1/4 in. legs will be supported by driving PVC into ground and leaving 3 feet above to slide the legs into.

      Wow -- this sounds very intricate Chuck, and I'm guessing you spent quite some time figuring this out! Do you have a Limelight Hydrangea shrub or tree? Please keep me posted on how it turns out! 👍🔨

    That was my lime light tree last year , this year I had a vole or voles in the Limelight flower bed that ate some of its roots and the whole tree toppled over. Right now I’m having it staying upright by putting a bucket full of soil against the trunk hoping it will root itself in again

      Oh Amy, I'm so sorry about your Limelight tree. I hope it roots in again too. Fingers crossed for you. 🤞 There are many good options for getting rid of voles and keeping them away from your plants. Here's a good article that might help: www.thespruce.com/vole-control-getting-rid-of-voles-2131148 Keep me posted!

    Hi! I have a very top heavy tree too. Branches aren’t strong enough to keep the panicles from flopping. I plan to prune in early spring like you suggest (I watched that video). Question…can I atleast cut off the panicles now? It’s November in Michigan. Thx!

    • @GardenSanity
      @GardenSanity  10 месяцев назад

      Hi Cheryl - yes you can! In fact, I cover your specific question in my recent video on what to prune and what not to prune in Fall - I have a section on these panicle hydrangea trees: ruclips.net/video/DZUeRozb3kc/видео.htmlsi=b0jG24pKGK0XbMHq You can use the Chapter links in the description box (for that video) to go directly to that section! 👍 Hope this helps! 😀

    Is the Limelight hydrangea tree the same as the Vanilla strawberry tree as far as care is concerned?
    My Hydrangea tree looks terrible after two heavy rains and it’s September and I don’t know if I should trim it or not! I live in Iowa.

    • @GardenSanity
      @GardenSanity  Год назад +1

      Yes it is JoRene -- good question! All of these panicle hydrangea trees can be treated the same in terms of care. So tell me what looks terrible to you right now. Is it the leaves? The flowers? Drooping stems? Let me know and I'll see if I can help you! 🙂

      Received my second vanilla strawberry panicle hydrangea tree yesterday via Fed Ex and I’m worried that it may have been damaged in transit. 1st tree died or appears dead and now I have this weeping and broken branch tree and need your advice on if it’s salvageable and any recommendations. Can I plant in a large pot?

    I have a limelight that has many thin branches full of flowers that are curving downward. Should those be cut off?

    • @GardenSanity
      @GardenSanity  Год назад

      Hi Deb, apologies for not responding sooner. Yes, I would cut those off. (And maybe enjoy those flowers indoors!) 💚 I also get those too every year. Some I will leave, but others I will remove. You don't want those stems developing further because they will just continue to become thicker stems pointing downwards. I hope this helps!

      Is it ok to tie the branches up with a rope?
