This is a model for what all repair videos should be. A quick list of tools required, and a demonstration of the technique. You didn't waste a second of my time.

This is such an effective use of video.
Thank you for taking the time to produce so many helpful video guides for your customers.
I especially appreciate the list of tools needed and that you don't take anyone's knowledge or experience for granted - you really show step by step what to do and include tips that others might consider obvious: "Put the side sash on first before the top and the bottom" and "Use this kind of finish nail" or "Set the nail like this so it can be filled."

Very informative video overall. I've been doing service on Andersen windows for over 13 years, and just a couple thoughts...
    1. The particular window shown in the video is a 1999-present vintage. The one on the 1995-98 vintage is generally similar, but the upper & lower locks can be replaced individually as part of the tandem lock system. 1966-95 vintage locks are exposed & can be replaced without taking off any trim at all.
    2. A tip for reduced damage to your stops: after scoring a line to release the paint/varnish, open the window & insert your pry bar or putty knife(I personally prefer a painter's 8-in-1 tool for most of that work) from the exterior side & gently work it loose. No visible damage that way!
    Cheers

Good tip, because the way that they show it is guaranteed to visibly damage the wood. You can even see it in the video.

thank you for this video...Our company installed a casement, with the wrong swing. After watching this video, and one other, I realize that I can leave the existing frame, (to replace the entire window would be a train wreck! ),and just swap out the hardware, sash and stops...turning a two day job , into a two hour job...…… Thanks again..FRED.

lock lever made of terrible quality Al alloy, crumbly, very weak, meant to brake. cheap pins, badges made with this material! And it has to withstand everyday loads.
Shame on you, anderson!! will try to avoid your products.

Al Y - We are sorry to hear you are unhappy with your Andersen product. Could you provide us with some more information about the model and year of your product by calling us at 888-888-7020? Before you call, if you could use this worksheet to identify your casement window, that would be very helpful. We are always striving to improve our products and components and welcome feedback from our valued Andersen customers.

Agreed. the sash lock mechanism simply broke off -- it seems to be made of cheap metal. I was afraid that I would regret going with Andersen for all my window replacements...

It does seem to me that the metal used in the handle mechanism was super cheap. I wouldn't have expected it to break with just normal use.
