Reformatting is a cool concept in Transformers where Cybertronians can change up their appearances after scanning a vehicle as their new alt-mode and it shows when they transform back to robot form. Optimus Prime with his new look in Age of Extinction was certainly shredded there.
In the Bayverse Transformers comics, Optimus was leader of the Science Force (Autobots who focus on science and development for the advancement of society) while Megatron led the Defense Force (Decepticons that are the military power protecting Cybertron and its people from threats) before the fallout and war.
Since Optimus is the last descendent of the Prime Dynasty in the Bayverse, it can be concluded that the Knight Optimus was his original form prior becoming a Prime in Cybertron. This evidence is supported by the fourth film, where Lockdown claims that Optimus and the Dinobots are the type of Cybertronian Knights, he is after. If this true, then 2007 was Optimus Prime Mode after becoming Leader of Autobots following Sentinel's absent during great war of Cybertron. Of all the forms of Optimus that appear in the Bayverse films, his appearance in the third film is the coolest and most dashing in my opinion. In the third movie, Optimus Prime has jacked up chest as his armor protection, as well as featuring his flight tech and rear trailer as his weapons storages.

All evidence goes towards the fact that Knight Prime was his true and previous form. I do agree that his upgrades in Dotm were very cool.
All I’m going to say is that, Jetfire Optimus has to much parts, which serverly takes away his Energon
