If on TDC the rotor should be pointing at number 1 on the distributor not the number 1 cylinder! I used to always think it was supposed to point at number 1 cylinder but its on the cap number 1. Also first timing mark is for timing down below, second mark is for timing up top like you are. Awesome video
Super helpful. Clear explanation, no idiotic music, easy to hear you speaking, and your arrows/text edits made things easier to understand. I’m going to buy my tdc whistle now. Thank you sir!
For anyone who doesn’t want to order a TDC whistle just thread the spark plug in the absolute minimum for it to still stay in place and it will hiss on the compression stroke and stop at TDC. Hope this helps, Great video by the way thanks so much!
For me I had intake, power steering pump, fan ,fan shrouds off so all I did was one hand turn the engine over then other hand over the spark plug hole. Best way before you take anything apart take off distributer cap and line up the marks on the balancer and that should point at 6. There’s a couple of videos if you just look you can find em
Just use rachet and 1in socket turn the alternator take number 1 plug out and screw it in about 1/2 turn ..then turn motor over till u hear a hiss noise that's compression side move to first groove on harmonic balancer line up with v mark on the timing cover ..easy as can be with just 1 person
Thank you so much for your kind words! I truly appreciate your feedback, and I'm thrilled to hear that you find my presentation style clear, clean, and concise. My goal is to provide valuable and easily understandable information to help viewers make informed decisions. Thanks again for your support, and happy watching! 😊📺👍
I have this truck. Mine is a 5 spd. manual trans. Recently; 185,000 ODO ; a squeak coming from my crank that marks each revolution of the crank. Might I guess it is the harmonic balancer? 1st thought it was the water pump. Changing that and the belt , tensioner, idler pulleys did nothing to the “squeak” that is getting worse. Even at idle in neutral.
I believe the other mark lines up with something underneath, this really is difficult to do with one person I have been trying to use a length of s/s wire and holding it/feeling it move is hard while turning the wrench with the other hand - I am gonna look for one of these whistles so I can drop in a new distributor
Just put socket on alternator and turn it and take number 1 plug out and screw back in half or a turn when u get to compression side and TDC the plug will make hiss noise .then just find groove 1 and line up with mark on timing cover .
You're awesome! Thank you! I've got a lot of videos making that truck look like you see it now. Here's the playlist ruclips.net/p/PLZPFVgOzDxzUNotTlw4KYrOgZebABH3Gg - I also wrote a 3K + word article on my website called, *GMT400 Upgrades and Performance Parts* . It's the biggest and best resource online for all the things we can do to fix up the GMT400. www.buildpriceoption.com/gmt400-upgrades/ - Thank you for watching!
Wow, call me a dummy but i DID NOT realize you were black lol. Not that it actually makes a difference, but i clearly did have an inaccurate image in my mind 😅 Again im so grateful for the playlist!
Others are saying #6 on the rotor. About 9 o’clock. Line up the nipple with the line and after dropping in the final rest should be 9oclock sitting on #6
Always a nice clear presentation Frank. Thanks
Thank you and thanks for watching!!

Great Video buddy. Never had to do tdc. I did know that pointing at the# 1 cylinder was incorrect but you surely figured that out. Excellent video

Did the k seal work for intake manifold?
I would like to know more about 4.3 v6.
Can you get that at Harbor freight? I’m looking for one
I love your videos! Where did you get your tdc tool?❤❤❤❤🤝
Thank you! I bought it on Amazon ❤

Where did you find that steering link at. I need one of them too along with that whistle
Amazon for both. I have a video of the steering shaft install
Will you find an internal counter-balance shaft under your TBI intake?
Yes I am pretty sure the 4.3 had that by 1994
Great video
Thank you so much! I'm glad you found the video helpful. 😊
Hey
where can i get that whistle?
Do you have his number?
I actually got the whistle from Amazon. Don't have the part number. Hope this helps
Thank you very helpful!!
Oooooh, you've got the v6, I've hot the 5.7l v8 version. Hmmm.
The engine layout is exactly the same. Anything I talk about and do to my truck, its basically the same for you
Dude! 👍
This guys talks so white
Or I just talk however the fuck I talk. That's a stupid racist statement.
@@BuildYourOwn I'm a white guy and I was just thinking exactly what you said!
