  • Here are my tests of two well-known drawer slides. Both systems are high quality drawers. This video highlights only differences between these two products which are invisible when you read technical and commercial documents.
    Hettich's drawer slides tested
    --------------------------------------------
    ArciTech drawer set, 94 mm / 500 mm, white - Ref. 9149302
Actro drawer runner set with Silent System, 500 mm, 40 kg, 19 mm - Ref. 9150462
Push to open Silent opening system for ArciTech - Ref. 9154548
The flagship drawer system of Hettich is AvanTech with Actro 5D but the push-to-open system seems to be exactly the same as Arcitech's one (no synchronization axis like Blum). The AvanTech version is hard to find (no reseller until now). So I compare with Arcitech. The latter has almost the same price as Blum Legrabox.
    Blum's drawer slides tested
    -----------------------------------------
    LEGRABOX drawer set, 91mm (M) / 500mm, grey - Ref. 770.5002x
    Drawer runner set for Tip-on Blumotion, 500mm, 40Kg - Ref. 750.5001M
    Tip on Blumotion Set L3, LN=350-750 mm, 5-40 kg - Ref. T60L7540
    Synchronization axis - Ref. T60.1125W
I hope this test will help other demanding handyman, like me ;)!

The push to open silent system on the Hettich drawer ArciTech doesn't exist anymore for about 4 years now. The system is replaced with new generation, also available with a synchronisation bar

Thanks! I would love an update with the new stuff. Also maybe look at Sugatsune. (Many people like the Sugatsune soft close hinges as well as the Blum, and I wonder about the slides.)

Push to open option and how well it functions on any great drawer varies depending on which PTO trigger set you select for that specific drawer. In this video it's clear the right trigger set for Legrabox was chosen (stronger trigger) and not for ArciTech. They both can be great or not so great depending on this component. Pushing in the edges of the drawer front also is possible by using a stablizer bar. Can't see if the stablizer was used. Not a fair video. Push to open is very tricky but given the right components , it can work correctly.

Not really a fair comparison when you have failed to show the adjustment available on the hettich product which changes the distance of which the drawer will open (hettich clear winner) and the force needed to close the drawer (again hettich would win if the drawer is fitted correctly)

306notout I tried to adjust drawers as much as I can, with load or not. Both products are high quality drawers... but Blum has at least two advantages which are:
      - when you push the drawer to the maximum, Blum does not open again immediately. It is more intuitive in my opinion. When I invited people at home, I saw clearly the difference. When people discover these two products for the first time, they try to close drawers pushing them until they reach their maximum position. Doing this has two different effects on Blum and Hettich drawers. Hettich drawer does not stay closed, the mechanism opens the drawer again immediately. Blum drawer stays closed, and the mechanism will open the drawer only on the next push.
      - when the drawer is large, the synchronisation mechanism of Blum between the left and the right sliders improves the "sensitive zone" to open the drawer. Even with careful adjustments, Hettich drawer does not open when you push it on the edges on this large drawer (90cm)

Not really fair comparison. Push to open silent by Hettich is designed to work with drawer weight up to 60 kg - not with empty box. You can adjust the opening force according to drawer weight AND you can adjust the sensitivity to match the user´s favorite "push" force AND you can adjust the gap behind frontpanel between 2-4 mm. One important point: no backpanel mounted on ArciTech???

Ladislav Hein The video highlights only differences you cannot see in technical or commercial documents. With empty or full box, the conclusion is the same for the user experience in my opinion (wider push-to-open sensitive zone with Blum thanks to the synchronization axis on large drawers, better behavior with Blum for naïve users who push the drawer to its maximum to close it).
Yes, Hettich has more adjustment (spring force, ...). We can also adjust the gap behind frontpanel with Blum. They where both at 2.5mm. But this kind of information can be found in commercial documents.
Yes, I did not mount the backpanel of both products Hettich and Blum for the test (no impact).
Just for the record, after testing them for a while, I think the electronic version is better. These two pure mechanical products still need a lot of force to reload the push-to-open spring when closing them.

Что за проплаченное сравнение, blum стоит с синхронизатортом и поэтому открывается с любой точки, у hettich не поставили синхранизатор да и на направляющие actro не похожи.

if the drawer if full of item then hettish would be about the same as blum, but from what you have there the answer is clear that blum win out.

    • @DavidGrelaud
      @DavidGrelaud  7 лет назад +1

Yes, both drawers work very well. When the drawer is full of items, Hettich's brakes are a little bit smoother than Blum's ones when closing (not visible in the video), but the push-to-open system of Blum is still better (same conclusion as if the drawer is empty)

Thank you I am just about to make decision on which one to use for the kitchen project. Now I have a better idea. Hettich's are around 110USD per set, which is quite expensive here in Hong Kong.
I brought an experimental set, yet to install them.Wonder how much did you get them for?
We are about to build them into a full aluminum panel, using 7000 series aluminum on the front, bottom and side panel, the only way we can achieve around 1mm gap between the front panels. With wood it's not possible as it expands and contracts.
