Emery said in his post match interview that it was Villa’s worst performance under him in the first half. Wolves have quality and showed they will click at some point, Villa’s squad strength in depth is digging them out when needed.
Disgusting second half, GON has to go. He can't manage a game, how did we lose like that after that first half. Gary loser comments have given the team a loser mentality and we cant shake it off

Felt we'd actually defended fairly well until the first goal conceded, but once that went in, you knew where it was going, and that's one of the most worrying things - heads drop and we just crumble in adversity, no mental strength, we've forgotten how to win. Worrying injury to mosquera, but gives a chance to Santi. We have to somehow find that first win soon, but looking down the barrel of Liverpool then city at molineux, atmosphere could get really nasty. I'm still backing GON, but he's definitely under pressure now
Fosun, you reap what you sow, season after season selling our best players but fair play you did say if we wanted to support a club that wanted success and European football then Wolves wasn’t the club to support, feel sorry for Gary O Neil and the loyal fans who have followed this club

Think I’m at the point where I’m ready for us to head back to the championship now and then press the reset button on this Fosun era. They can have a think whether they want to spend the money to make us competitive again or if not move on and let new owners come in. Ticket prices, players and owners all need rebalancing at this point we have lost the soul of the club gradually since Covid. Look at where Villa are who were relegated and bounced back up in 2020 and now playing champions league football in 2024. I’d take relegation for Champions League football in 2028

We're going down. We can't play a back 4, and it's obvious GON isn't gonna change. We were fantastic 1st half, and who would have thought, Sat back and did nothing in the 2nd half.
So, with a back 4 in the 1st half we were good, how then can you say we can't play with a back 4????? We need to string 2 halves of good stuff together.

If Mosquera is out for a long time we are down. He is the only one who is premier league level in that defence. Been a nice journey but the end is coming. Shipping goals for fun. Really don't and didn't expect us to get much out these first few games but we cannot concede 3 or more every game that's terrible. And as for the fitness, Bellegard was out on his feet after 39mins. What's that all about??!!!!
Made us look silly first half and deserved the lead at HT. Second half a combination of good changes by Emery and Wolves deciding to sit and take the pressure allowed us back in. I will never understand why some managers/teams will make the choice to try and sit on a single goal lead for near half the match. I know Wolves like to play on the counter but there was a difference between the way Wolves were trying to counter 1st half vs 2nd
How draining is it supporting wolves? I never feel like we can go on and win a game at the minute. We’ve played okay in spells so far this season but can’t hold onto a lead. Useless

Have we even got the personnel to play a back 5 with Toti out and Mosquera stretchered off? Doherty at centre half is it, or will O'Neil try and switch someone like Andre or Lemina back in there as a sort of hybrid centre half? I'd love to know what's happened behind the scenes, seem to recall there being talk from within the club that there'd be money to spend this summer and then there apparently wasn't really, even after all those player sales? I know Gary O'Neil will get the blame for the lack of form, but something seems to be generally wrong at the football club and I wonder if it's something from higher up or further behind the scenes that's seeping through. Hopefully I'm wrong, and hopefully GON can get it sorted pronto!

I think GON doesn’t have the players to play his back four. Yes our current squad are talented but you can have11 most talented but if you cannot bind as a team then you’ll win nothing. Why not start TommyDoyle?? It’s Road Map time for the Championship Routes. Then another bunch of new players because I doubt if half the current squad will want Championship football.
Why did we buy another cdm and winger in window when we needed a cb and lb ?
Is this just gonna be the cycle now? We have a horrible season, then bring in somebody who’s willing to play the hand he’s dealt and he does pretty well, then he decides in the summer that he can play like City too, and the board doesn’t back him enough, but he pushes on anyway and then we concede 5 goals a game until he gets sacked in October, just for the whole thing to start all over again? It’s like Gary’s maliciously making the wrong call every match now. Seeing this team score only makes me nervous nowadays.

Gary O’Neil cannot manage games after 45 mins… a conversation needs to be had surely.
The players we have shouldn’t be getting hammered like this every week.
I have questions over GON, fitness levels, but also the quality of our defence. RAN is one of the worst LBs I've ever seen at Wolves defensively, although going forward, he's one of the best dribblers I've ever seen at Wolves, so I understand why he's in there. Semedo has his moments but not really consistently good enough. Mosquera has been on loan for god knows how long for good reason. Dawson is the only player in that defence that I would class as a Premier League standard player, but even then, he's getting older now and can't really last a full 90 at the same level. Further to that, we've sent Hugo Bueno out on loan, who's probably our best defensive LB, and sold Kilman, who this season would probably have been our best defensive option. We've sold players to balance our FFP issues but since Neves, I thought this was settled? So what happened to the Neto and Kilman money? Fosun get a lot of stick but even then, I still feel like they get off lightly. I often think our best bet would be to get relegated and rebuild again. Fosun had a 10 year plan to get us to the UCL. We've gotten worse and worse every season since Nuno's last season.
The old saying 'game of 2 halves' is proper here, I thought Wolves played really well 1st half

Spot on regarding the similarities to the season we began under Bruno Lage (calls for manager's head). Seriously, there is something wrong with how the club is being lead from top to bottom, and you see it with the lack of direction from the dug-out and from the senior players on the pitch.
Changing a lack of belief and motivation can usually only take place if there is a change of manager. But any new manager has to be quite different from O'Neil, and not a Moyes type who would not be suited to the make-up of the current Wolves squad.
As all us “doom moongers” have been saying for nearly two and a half years you can only continue to not invest for so long before it bites you on the arse, of course all the happy clappers shouted us down telling us to be grateful. How grateful are you now happy clappers? Bottom of the league

The problem at wolves is the Chinese owners lack of investment selling your best players and buying cheap players

Villa fan here. First half I thought you guys were really good. From the outside looking in, I honestly think you should stick with your manager and you will be mid to lower upper table. The players you have lost and the general investment or lack off was always going to create an uphill battle for whoever took over. UTV
I've heard the constant excuses about the difficult fixtures wolves have had.! So what ..! your in the Premiership right.? Thats the teams you have to play against the problem is we keep selling players and bring in mediocre ones desperately need strikers who can score hes isolated up front on his own chasing shadows. And what was going on at the end of the first half almost 7 minutes just passing around to each other when we had villa on the ropes.. and a possible second goal..?
I'm at the point where I'm not sure I even care if O'Neil is sacked or not, we bring a new manager in he keeps us up and we go through the same rubbish in 12-18 months time.

I agree Wolves dominated first half, but the problem was you tried to defend the lead and became very negative. Villa had 10 men on with McGinn injured and Wolves still insisted on holding the ball and not pressing g the advantage. That’s the issue.
Because Dave, we sit back and defend instead of going forward to find more goals, and how many games does this manager need to realise we can’t play a back 4, we have to go back to our plan and that is with a back 3. Sorry but too me manager has to go.

Can’t blame ONeil for all of it as he couldn’t get the players he wanted. However his game management has been shocking…Chelsea went in 2-2 half time 1-0 Newcastle and 1-0 today. Can’t keep blaming the fixtures for this for that much longer.

I think a decision needs to be made on who the best combination is in CM. The best performers this season have, in my opinion, been Andre and Bellegarde, who I think is more an 8 than an attacker, yet you can't see them ever benching Joao and/or Mario.
Villa fan here, you played well first half, all over us, but our squad depth came through, with the quality we can bring off the bench. You will be fine once you get that first win, villa are a team that never gives up under emery against another team you cld of got something. Good luck for rest of the season.
It’s disappointing and disheartening to say but maybe relegation might be the best thing, maybe Fosun will finally 🤬 off ! Trying to consistently rebuild each summer after constantly selling every asset we have and replacing them with randoms with fancy names to compete in the toughest league in the world is bonkers!

Bottom line Dave…the boys aren’t fit enough clearly. Hobbs and Fosun put Gary in a bad bad spot. Didn’t get a few center backs they are quality in the summer. It’s a recipe for disaster now that Yerson is likely gone and we can’t get Matip. So sad as we have played so well in the first half and brought the play to teams. Wish Fosun sold to a company that wanted to be at the top

Can honestly say villa could of gone 3-0 down in the 1st half and i still think we would of beaten you as you fall apart due to no depth in your team we knew moment the subs came on we would take complete control it’s been a pattern this season.
