- I spent 15 minutes installing this bumper and then about 3 hours installing a Bak X4s cover on a Ford Maverick. I thought this would have been the harder thing to install due to its size but it was laughably easy. You can accomplish the entire install with a box cutter, 3 sockets and driver. This was ordered from Realtruck on a Tuesday afternoon and arrived Friday early morning. This was part GGF21HBL1C
what a nice socket case.
Thanks for posting this. I've got a 23 PB and was thinking of pulling the trigger on the same Ranch Hand. Have you noticed any MPG changes? I imagine there might be some increased wind resistance at highway speeds but don't know how much.
yes and no. 2mpg less but we also have a hole in the catalytic converter and the local ford dealership is dragging their feet on getting a replacement so it is possible the mileage shift is due to that. We live in an area with some dark roads and large deers so the mileage loss (if it is the ranch hand) is worth the risk.
How much weight does it add over front axel? Do you have the snow plow prep option on your truck?
no snow where I live. my guess is that it weighs about 120lbs. its extremely light for what it is.
how much extra length would you say it a add to the front of the truck , this is as regards fitting into tight spots in city parking lots or three point turn
8inches maybe. If you are in an area where everything is tight like NYC, it could be an issue
Do you have front collision assist and 360 cameras? I’m thinking of getting this but I’m worried it will interfere will all the sensors/cameras
we do. you can see it a little bit on the front camera and also the Birds Eye camera but not enough that it is a problem. there seems to be no problems with the front collision sensor.
Thank you for this! It would be so helpful if there's any way you can upload a video of the 360 camera birds eye and the front view how it appears with this installed. @@300howto

Did you consider getting the one with the attached front bumper? Also, does it in any way mess with the pre collision assist ("auto brake") and parking sensors?
Do you mean the Summit model where it replaces the front bumper with a metal one? I did consider it but two reasons I didn't, the first is that there is nothing wrong with my bumper currently. If I made had a dent or something that was prompting me to replace the bumper, I would have considered it. But considering that I paid for that bumper in the price of the vehicle, it seems foolish to just pull it off and toss it out and replace it with another bumper that I would be paying extra for. The second reason which was really the deciding factor was that the installation just seemed more complicated than I felt was worth it. I actually like the stock front bumper and feel that if I was to use the summit front end, I would need to match it with midnight rear bumper.
Also, given all the sensors and what not in the vehicle, the more you "replace" the more chances something gets messed.
Good point, friends of mine are telling me that the issue with installing just the grille guard without the bumper is that if you have a collision at any non-slow speed with the grill guard without the bumper it will do a significant damage to your car,, because it's just attached by brackets, whereas with the one with the whole steel bumper it's not the case. I don't know if this is true. @@300howto
@@---tx9xx that is hard to determine. A lot of variables go into play. Are you hitting a deer at 80 or a head on collision at 60? It comes down to physics and mass. Two trucks head on that are each going 35 is going to cause much more damage than hitting a deer at 90. I think that if it was a "you are lucky to be alive" accident, neither will matter as you will more than likely be in need of a new vehicle.
Well, I was thinking of getting it let's say for the occasional unexpected needing to push a disabled vehicle off the road or debris. However, the situation I was thinking of would be an unexpected of course, God forbid, "regular" car accident, where i would end up doing more damage than otherwise. Did anyone give you any warnings about getting just the guard vs the guard w bumper? What awas your reasonoing in getting the grille guard, what are you hoping to acheive from it? Also, did you consdider other brands beside ranch hand and if so why did you go w rannch hand? Also looking at setina, fab four. Thank you!!@@300howto
Hey man did you have any problems with the front sensor parking assist after you installed your brush guard?
I just had one installed and my front parking assist sensors are acting up and not working
Any advice
The only time I've noticed it anything is when I go through the carwash and there is some water dripping off the guard and in front of the sensor. Actually now that I think of it, if it's raining bad and I'm pulling into a parking spot, it will go off. That seems to be the only time.
I might purchase the same bumper that came off a 2016 f150, do they all fit for 2021 ?
according to the ranch hand website, it fits 2015-2023. If you have the front camera and adaptive cruise control you will want to make sure the one you have has the cutout in the front like what you see in the video. I would imagine you could also use some sort of metal cutter to make the cutout if you needed but if you have the camera and adaptive cruise and you dont have that area cut out, I would imagine your truck will freak out thinking you are about to hit something.
also, they make full bumpers like seen in this video: ruclips.net/video/u_-4nUp89EE/видео.html
I just have the grille guard.
Your mounting brackets will be different. I have the ranch hand from back in 2016 with the riveted plate in the middle, not the cowboy hat stuff, and when I was going to install the mounting bracket the way it is designed it will hit the lower valence/bumper pad. It seems like it is not long enough to stick out from under the bumper to mount correctly to the grill guard. I’m currently trying to find someone who sells the mounting kit to still use the grill guard. Also agree with the above statement about cutting out an area for the forward camera.
So, just wanna make sure, you don't need remove the bumper in order to install the grill guard?
You do not. You will need to get under the front of your bumper though with a ratchet. Not hard unless your truck is lowered. If that is the case, you may need to jack the front up.
@@300howto Sounds good! Does the grill guard has any affect to your front camera or radar sensors (on bumper)?
@@changdi2042 camera yes. you can see it a bit. Not enough to ruin the experience but enough that you know it is there. so far no radar issues.
Does this block you from seeing the drl at all
not at all. those are still seen and the headlights are still ridiculously bright causing people to flash me constantly.
Does that logo plate come off if you want to remove it?
I will need to check but I think its welded on
hey well i much appreciate you checking man@@300howto
It’s welded
Is your truck leveled?
no. stock minus the ranch hand
Does it work as a push bar too?
yes and no. if you are going to approach something slow and then push it at low speeds, possibly so. but if you are going to pit stop someone, you might cause damage.
Thanks for the reply. Any recommendations for a best push bar for this vehicle? @@300howto
No bracket holding in the middle of the guard. I feel like it would bend into the truck on impact
Hopefully I will never find out.
Do you have adaptive cruise control? If so, any issues? How does the camera view look, how obstructed?
@@ChrisWilliams8301 it does have adaptive cruise and it works perfectly still. you can see it on the 360 Birds Eye camera but it is not horrible. anything that is cut off by the camera is in theory protected by the ranch hand so if I was to hit something I couldn't see, the truck would be ok.
@@300howto thanks man! Looks sweet!!
