Asperger is an outdated term for people on the autism spectrum. It's not really used anymore but a lot of countries still diagnose Asperger, the actress who plays Sara has it and she based her portrayal in her own experience as an autistic person💖
Yeah, the main reason it's not used anymore is because of its origin. Hans Asperger was a N4zi. And he created a separate diagnosis do differentiate between autistics who could work for them and ones to kill.
@@JynxRyl Some more info as to why it isnt used anymore incase you are interested!...it's because it's named after a nazi...who did a LOT of eugenics stuff. And he made functioning labels of "high" and "low" functioning autistic people. Killing the low functioning ones and letting the high ones live... So to distance from that very very dark somewhat incorrect(in terms of functioning labels) history they essentially changed the name and made it into autism spectrum disorder. Instead of Aspergers.
I still think this is weird. My husband works in this field with kids and talks about this and my brother has autism too. But I still think there is alot of difference within the autism spectrum and ways to 'help/treat'
@@sophiablackthorn It's horrible that the name comes from such a horrible person! I know It's not a straight line and it is a spectrum I agree that it's just not black or white but I do think there is a different between: Asperger's or classic autism and how you can help someone. My brother has PDD NOS already this was Not Otherwise Specified. I hope you understand a little wat I mean, English is not my native language. :)
Imagine all the pressure on your shoulders this young. Being ripped out of your surrounding to live under a family bully controlling you all the time. And then you realize you might be gay/bi/pan. This anxiety attack makes so much sense and Edvin portraits it so well. His acting is so intense. So impressive
I think it's amazing how Edvin (the actor who plays Wilhelm) portrays his feelings in this series, for example his anxiety. You can also see him actively doubting and thinking in different situations. I think he's a really great actor (Omar as well (actor who plays Simon))
Yeah, as someone who has severe anxiety his self soothing gestures like rubbing his chest and biting his nails has stayed consistent throughout season which was wonderful to see! Very realistic.
Wille knows he wants Simon. But he also knows he is not allowed to have a relation ship with a working-class male as royal. That is the "I am not", he is fighting his desire. You got it right. Their worked a lot on family issue, and health issue on the show.
the actor for simon (omar) is actually venezuelan-swedish so his first language i believe it's spanish. And he's trilingual, he lso speaks english. A true talented king
And all the main actors speak fluent English and do their own voice acting in the English dubs. Also have to put a plug in- Omar’s first solo album dropped today!!
I love that you two saw right away that the speech from August was a way of payment. He thinks status is so important that this feels like payment for him. And also the panic attack and the reason behind this because of the pressure.
I love how cute their first kiss is! It's so common to see first kisses being portrayed as some sensual, super cinematic thing when in reality that's not how it happens haha
It was so awkward and realistic. Even the camera angles for the first peck were kind of awkward. I think it was intentional so that you felt as tense and weird as they did, as we all did, at our first kiss.
Loving your well thought out commentary! SOME BASIC INFO FOR ADHD... the prescribed medications for ADHD are actually a stimulant, but for ADHD brains it kinda does the opposite which helps focus the overactive brain to function in everyday life, as well as increasing dopamine levels, etc. BUT when a neurotypical person takes an ADHD drug (ritalin/adderall), it's like taking speed/meth - keeps you awake for long periods so you can study non-stop, for example. It's an addictive substance and can have long lasting effects as it can mess with a neurotypical's brain chemistry, especially a young developing brain. These are not "performance-enhancing drugs". They're illegal when not prescribed because they are controlled substances. As with any prescribed medication, it needs to be regulated for each persons brain/body chemistry. Which is why August's friend may have been surprised that August went through the pills so fast, the friend probably uses a lower dose which is effective for him specifically. Meanwhile August was taking a pill every time he needed to do an all-nighter to study for an exam or wanted more energy for sports reasons (I'm assuming). As far as I remember, all the questions that the school psychologist asked August were more for stress & anxiety, not for ADHD (getting diagnosed is usually a very long process unfortunately). I don't believe August thinks he has ADHD, he just "needs" the high and the fake confidence he gets from the drugs. So yes, August is a drug addict at this point. (*I am not a medical professional! Just my thoughts and basic knowledge as an ADHDer myself)
Yeah, true. I mean, you can do sports normally as an ADHD person on adderal, but as a neurotypical person it can really mess with your heart rate. You already have the regular amount of dopamine and should not take those meds.
About August taking pills and doing hard exercise - to me it’s evident that he takes the pills to keep up his performance in all sides of life. His exercise is absolutely connected to some kind bodily fitness perfectionism. It’s all about keeping up the façade.
I’m so happy that you’re watching this show. It’s the best show on Netflix, IMO. When you’re done with this one, your should watch Skam. Season 3 can be watched in its own but I recommend starting with season 1 so you can see Isak’s whole journey.
I appreciate when reactors try to give all the characters (including August) the benefit of the doubt and to empathize with their back stories but in the case of wanting the ADHD assessment - that was pure manipulation on August's part. The counselor seems to be at the school and readily available to the students, the other teachers and administration also seem to be pretty caring. Of course they're all young and August is dealing with the loss of his father and who knows if he has gotten any real support for that. I hope they get into these back stories in Season 2.
It is a real one that is available on Netflix which is why they could show footage of the movie in the show because it's on the platform young royals is also on...it's not a very good movie from what I've heard. Lol.

Yes, Simon speaks Spanish with his mom at home, sometimes Swedish. He speaks Swedish with his sister Sara.
