I'm just gonna say Josh O not being on the final makes me really sad 😞.
I'm glad Kristof is going to the finals. I wish he was going to GBB.
One thing I've been noticing about Josh O lately is that recently, all of his tracks seem to be perfectly ready to go extremely quickly! He's so fast at his layering and he can always go with the first verse or first drop after less than a minute, 15-20 seconds or so faster than average
I kind of feel weird having some extra time before the rounds. Of course I loved the rounds so much!

Yup and that's the problem with having a 2nd device they can easily create a lot of sound with just one note vs the one who had only rc 505, just like you said i think sbx should have a diff category for the loop station, the one who had 2nd dev and only rc 505, so that the judging will be fair right?

i dont actually get people whinning about second device, and thats translating to the judging of those battles, if its that much pain in the ass then just prohibit the usage of second device and everyone will be equal in their abilities, but noone said anything about swissbeatbox allowing second device in the competition, i dont get how it is a looper's problem in any way , its either swissbeatbox problem or personaly yours
You really can't easily create "one note" ( I assume you are referring to chords and or melodies) with second devices. Take it from someone who has used both rc-505 alone and helix with 505, its not easy at all. maybe performing it is a bit easier ( but with the introduction of the harmonizer effect on the rc-505 with conjunction with midi controller and or onboard assignable switches, makes this point a little irrelevant). But the preparation that goes into each individual sound, and the amount of time that it takes experimenting with different effects and effect combinations is not even slightly "easy". I do agree though on the point that 2 categories should be put in place, because at this point in time, its almost impossible to judge these competitions without bias. For example Inkie almost always votes for the competitor with better mix and structure, and saro almost always votes for the contestant with more technicality on the 505.

Obviously a 2nd eevice adds options, but to handle those, set them right and manage throughout the performance...it takes massive time, effort and knowledge. Pros and cons.. so many loopers have 2nd devices nowdays but not all of them sounds good, cause they need to learn to tame the beast. I could go on, but my point is: it is NOT easier with 2nd device, both ways has its pros and cons, and for kbb it was a decision for everybody to use 1 or 2 (since everybody has mki 😉)'

Loop station needs to split. Guys like Robin and Josh O are evolving the core of vocal loop station, while guys like KBA and Kristof are evolving dynamic production. Both are awesome, but the skills involved should each be showcased on their own, amongst their own kind. I think the "which is better" argument needs to end, because both genres are equally fantastic and result in great music.
and that's just how the judges are voting, if you hear their comments, not putting this into their judgement, but the whole thing.

I think it should be at least 5 judges. Although I respect all the decisions is too predictable who is gonna pass considering the musical taste of the judges. Seems like in the finals Saro is gonna vote Robin and Inkie is gonna vote Kristof again. We will see

One thing josh did better than everyone else with "red alert" was tell a story.. I can see easily imagine what he wanted you to see.. so fucking good! #1

Towards your thoughts at the end: I feel like it gets tougher everyday to draw a line between looping and just a fancy way of making (good) music, up to the point where I feel like it really is about time to introduce different loopstation categories (because in the end I feel like that is the discoussion at hand while we heard two completely different rounds), I really hope that SBX also notices this growing gap and will present a reasonable solution for all (/most) loopers.
And I understand the "advantage" of having a lot of musical/technical knowledge (which I lack almost entirely), but on the other hand I don´t have to/can´t watch out for such fine details, I just enjoy some sick rounds and then decide whose routines I love more purely on musical quality/taste.

Lately after watching a battle a couple of times I search for your video of said battle, like someone looking for their friends approval, and your reaction to kritof's second round was just what I was looking for lol. Kristof's 5 track sounded ... off, but it got much better later on.
As a viewer this battle was so fun. Loved josh o's second round and kristof's response haha. Doing these kind of "battle moves" are so impressive offline, but online opens up all sorts of possibilities to mess with the opponent and bring the fun to the battle.
can we take a moment to appreciate how good brez's english is even though he is french and french people hate english
French people don't hate english what they hate is english speakers visiting their country assuming everyone has to speak english to them without even asking first. Tbh i don't like english speakers too when they act like that in my country, so i totally agree with them ^^.

No one outside france speaks french (with the exception of a few african countries which were french colonies), how am I supposed to ask someone for directions if I don't speak french and they'll get offended if I talk to them in english?
@@TheVladacar No you didn't understand me, what i meant it's french people don't like when english speakers assume everyone there 'has to' / must speak english, i mean some of them don't ask first, like they can learn a simple phrase like "bonjour est-ce qu'il y a quelqu'un qui parle anglais? or vouz parlez anglais?" before traveling , it's not that difficult to be a polite person if they are visiting France, people there speak french, assuming they must speak english to them without asking first it's super rude.

@@TheVladacar No, as i said before, the problem it's the way some english people assume everyone has to speak english (like an obligation) even if the country is a non- english country, that's why it's rude, if you approach to someone speaking english like not even 'bonjour', that's rude, you are not in your home, that country is opening their doors to them not the other way around, also it's kinda hypocrite of some of them because when you visit USA they (no all people of course) literally say to you: if you are coming why don't you learn english first?, some
of them won't even reply to you if you don't speak english to them, that's not exclusive for France, but they said they are rude because in France some people show their disagreement with that attitude.
Also, in countries like Japan some english speakers act the same way, and sometimes don't even respect some basic rules, they are guest but sometimes they feel like they own every country they are visiting and think people have to adapt to them when it's the other way around.
I mean if you are visiting France, a place which people speak french it's common sense to learn basic phrases to survive, showing a little respect for the country you are visiting that's all.
I know in France you can find disrespectful people, jerks etc, but that could happen in every single country.
Josh O's 2nd round was very creative. I don't watch a lot of loopstation videos, but that was creative.
Sometimes i feel like Kristof is overusing his second device on this battle, especially against JoshO who is using only one device and using it very effectively

I just agree with Brez on the point about the machin : it's not that impressiv when you use a device as a midi controller + as a audio controller because basically you can't hear any human sounds on the mix, everthing is ultra mixed by the machin and it kinda loose the essence of looping to me, just my opinion though
@@iDreamFly3rZz ok but think of it this way: Kristof from a human sound manages to create a lot of full digital sounds, mixed perfectly. It seems easy to us because we see the kristof ready and prepared for the battle, but think about all the work it takes to create a single sound when he is creating a new beat.

pay attention to kristof, he actually uses the rc505 mk2 very effectively. arguably as good effectively and complex as josh o.

Josh O’s mastery of the RC505 is honestly up there with Robin and Saro for me…

Couldn’t agree more. Josh O’s style for me is too good and original to do something different, or change. It’s him that made me want to learn and get a loop-station. Only difference of opinions is that I love their 2nd round better than the first. As bad I love Josh O’s 2nd round, Kristof’s 2nd round is one of the best I’ve heard from the entire event. Josh O’s overall performance though (from his wildcard, all the way through is my favorite). Til this day, I listen to his music on repeat, daily 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨. Thank you for analyzing this battle BreZ. Esh❤️

I said that there was no way Inkie was going to give the win to Josh O, and that between the others, it’d be a toss up… I guessed that at least one would give the win to Kristóf, meaning he’d be the winner. Both Saro and Rythmind just 1.5 point difference is crazy; it was a real coin flip victory!

Lalala brez, you should work in finance given how dope your predictions are.
I have two questions:
1. For Looping/beatboxing: as a judge, would consider if the competitor ends his/her round too early ( let’s say more than 30 seconds left for loopers/ more than 20 seconds for beatboxers) a disadvantage? or it doesn’t matter since their time is THEIR time, they just mustn’t continue beyond it.
2. For Looping: Also as a judge, would you consider if the competitor is using only one device as an advantage over the one who uses two devices?
A conclusion question: why wouldn’t you consider what i said (if they are not considered) as a final solution? these consideration would make a difference imo When the competitors are just almost equal in technicality, musicality, originality, mixing…etc.
If I was judging, I would put my personal thoughts aside, I focus on what I hear. ;)

i hope no, he is so talented in one device and that's something unique, many loopers rely so much on second devices because they don't have the talent to use one device at its full potential, which it's not bad a thing, but we shouldn't encourage privileged people, who are talented enough to show off what's looping, to drop one device use. Wanting one device loop to disappear it's to much 😥.

brez I can totally empathize with you now that I've listened to a couple of loopstation music because looping didn't sound that amazing when we have a second device. I mean it is not to say it is no good to listen to but it just lose that kind of wow effect when loopers can create a drop with a paddle.

I think there needs to be separate categories for loop asap. GBB might exacerbate the problem even more. I'm actually surprised it hasn't happened already, but this event is especially proving to me that its crazy to try and compare a single device looper to someone with more than one. I'm super hyped to see where 2 device loopers can go, but I think it strays further from classic beatbox looping, and should have its own category because of it.

I'm not a fan of Krishtof, but I admit, musically both rounds were better than Josh's. Both funk and dnb were played in the best traditions, and in terms of the spectrum of sounding Kristof is head and shoulders above. Josh was good, but Kristof was better. 2-0.

Kristofs best parts are always dubstep sounds although he put some house or drumNbass drums under it but its still in his comfort zone

They both have pattern that goes absolutely diff ways. Kristof sure knows how to make use of his second device, but Josh O makes best of one itself. Hard decision surely !!

@@BreZBeatbox Yes, but the possibility is still there, and to do more, need to learn / control more, and thats normal imo. :) And still i think with 2 rc you could do soo much (like Matej for example), but mki+mkii could be a deadly combo (at least to clean up the mix and some extra), and all competitors had access to that..

I totally agree man. :). I guess it's a matter of tastes also. I know it's not possible to do what Dice did for his wildcard on a MK2, and that's the sort of thing I would love to be able to do on a single loop.
Nice approach champ but i want to see you doing a Robin, MB14 ,Tum tracks and then you can say it's not easier to use a second device rather than perfect harmonies. No hate or anything but you can't say if you are not a good in both. Yes it's hard to learn second devices (as every machine) but learn how to use a machine and perfect you own vocals it's a big difference, i understand your point of view but man relax a bit you are exaggerating, you need to face the truth even if you don't like it.
That doesn't make your music less impressive or good but facts are facts.
Human skills are going to be more impressive than machine skills for eternity , yes it's impressive how you use this machine ofc because that take skill and hard work but human skills could take a life time or in worst cases never get it because are deep talent, imo you can't compare them as equals and say it's not easier for second device users.
Josh O's round was too happy for my taste, but it was a well rounded solid one. Kristof is a little cringy doing the answers outside of the rounds and had some minor mistakes. Idk about this decision..
tbh i don't really dig kristof's style (even though i know his sound design is really good), he sounds, imo, a bit too focused on doing every genre
