      You want a Toyota? Sell Ferrari. You want a Ferrari? Sell Toyota. Ferrari dealer GMs are still just car dealership GMs. They make good money, but not Ferrari money unless they're the owner.

    • @Dario_Valentini
      @Dario_Valentini 6 months ago +8

      @austinhaight2446 He probably meant that if you're already rich it would be cheaper to get a slot by buying your way into a personal position instead of buying all the cars like a regular customer. Probably wouldn't work since i think it's Ferrari themselves and not the dealerships that allocate the special cars.

    • @Jeepnowave
      @Jeepnowave 6 months ago +4

      My take on it is as a general manager at Ferrari, I would have all the inside information that no Ferrari client has yet and I can demo whichever Ferrari new/used I please, I don’t need to buy it. Information is more powerful than the allocation itself.

    • @JuanOne11
      @JuanOne11 6 months ago +59

      You should watch Mark McCann trying to buy a brand new GT3RS in the UK. Also, Porsche dealers charge a markup unlike Ferrari dealers. Leno only has issues with Ferrari but not with Ford who made an application system to allocate the V6 Ford GT and that also was about owning multiple other Ford cars.

    • @senseiturtle

      @m4ssi86true, but considering art as investment instead of passion is just sad imo, I get than you need to buy and sell often to be able to afford new models, but it really detracts from the beauty of owning something special if you immediately think about selling before even buying.

    This is spot on with what the dealer I deal with has told me. I can’t afford to play that game and not sure if I would even if I could, despite loving the brand since I was a young kid growing up in Europe. I’ve been fortunate to own 2 Ferrari’s, F12 Berlinetta I bought used and the F8 Tributo I spec’d myself. I was told there are 4 levels, customer, important customer, VIP and then Top customer. Having owned 2 simultaneously I was simply a customer 😂.
    I buy what I like, provided I can afford it, and that’s the extent of my involvement. Everything explained in this video is that I’ve been told by my Ferrari dealer as well.

    Just buy the car you want at market. If it’s market it will hold or go up. You get the car you want and not all the F cars you don’t desire. Way cheaper. I own a 458 Spider original owner but also had a 430 Spider and 328 GTS. If I want another one I’m not playing the $20M game. Just buy what I want.

    • @JuanOne11
      @JuanOne11 6 months ago +3

      If you want one or two cars then that makes, but buying a collection of Ferrari's flagship supercar and hypercar and the icona cars will not be cheaper compared to meeting requirements and getting allocations directly from Ferrari.

      @Erigion 6 months ago +2

      Yea. Just look at the La Ferrari he mentioned at the beginning. Paid 1.75 for it and it's now worth 5 million. If you get access to the limited editions then the value of your collection will go up. But you need a bunch of money to do any of this

      Come on, bruv... You need to spend waaaaay more money to become a Top client of Ferrari than Rolex, and it's not even remotely close.
      You can also by pass A LOT of the Rolex bs by being a high profile figure (being a celebrity or having a large business. Basically having clout.).
      Also, if you show up with a flagship timepiece of the other Top Watch brands in the World, like PP, AP, VC, A.L&S, LP Journe, RM etc, you can get the most desirable Rolex's right away. NONE of that works with Ferrari. None.

    Today I spent the day relaxing at home with my wife and seven year old. Yesterday I took about three hours to mow my grass. This past week I did three hikes on three different trails. A few years ago I moved from NY to TN bc I was constantly surrounded by these types of guys and in this type of environment and it honestly made me shake my head. I used to bartend on Long Island and I’ve ended up in plenty of very expensive homes and cars etc. The amount of money the wealthy have is insane and the amount of wealthy people is another thing that many people can’t even comprehend. There are SOOO many rich people walking around the Hamptons. I’m so happy where I’m at. I could not afford a Ferrari but if I worked more I certainly could. I own my house and I won some used cars and a new VW that I got seven years ago. Oh I also own a Grom. What is the point in spending so much for something you get to enjoy half as often as I do and I’m just some dad who lives in East Tennessee? If I had that money I would never even consider buying a car. It’s so dumb.

    So you essentially have to first be a billionaire or close to it, then also have the passion and desire to dedicate that much time and money into this hobby. A very small group indeed, top 600 are true enthusiasts who enjoy every moment and car they have like you. At that point you deserve your allocations at MSRP all day. Do you know if David Lee is involved in the challenge racing side? He never talks about that if he is.
